I am just vastly disappointed. I was so excited for this gamepack due to all the hints from the knifty knitting trailer. Now it's just another plum Strangerville like alien pack (or worse: Star Wars) and I already hate it even though I don't know what comes with it yet. It honestly can't be interesting for me in any way if it's space themed.
I don't want farming with strange creatures (someone posted that in that star wars world there is farming), I want real farming. I don't want my Sims to travel to some strange planet and I don't want aliens roaming my towns.
I hate it, I really hate it and I have never been more disappointed (except for when Strangerville was released). I am so not going to buy this. This will be the first pack I definitely won't buy.
You don't think they would bring something like Strangerville a story-based pack again? Oh god please no no no no no!
This would even make this worse, lol
if it is, gonna tell you right now..HUGE backlash....and it will just put the nail on the coffin for me that they DO not know what this fanbase wants and refuse to listen.
Speak for yourself.I actually like stragerville, and some other people did.
The MAJORITY didn't like it, I know SOME did.
They didn't? I got the impression it was well received. Oh well I really like Strangerville myself.
@MaggieMarley I can't talk numbers either but I remember a bigger amount of criticism surrounding Strangerville than any other game packs at the time.
Weird I missed that lol. I guess I was busy with uni at the time so I only really saw the hype when the pack was announced. Probably all the criticism came later on when I wasn't paying attention
It was very mixed reaction, I'd say about 50% hype 50% critical. Apparently it sold quite well anyways but there was a lot on both sides with that one haha!
It definitely would be interesting to have a new town completely new and unlike any real life cities. Something entirely fictional. I still wish we could live in the magic realm for exemple. Whether it's Star Wars or not, it would create new ways to play, new stories to tell and it's exciting.
Of course as a game pack I don't expect a huge city, or even a life changing gameplay, but I hope it will bring completely new things in the already existing sims universe.
One One Hand if this is about Aliens, Then it would be a DLC for DLC like MFPS. On the other hand if this is a space themed world, but instead of improving aliens we get another occult, then Aliens would be left mediocore in The Sims 4.
Still hoping it is not a Space Theme pack. Romance Pack or anything that would add depth to current gameplay such as parenthood is the pack that I am looking for.
See my earlier comment. They could introduce improved aliens in this pack (and improve them for the folks who own GTW) similar to what they did for vampires in Late Night/Supernatural back in Sims 3 era. They wouldn't make them base game so those who didn't buy GTW because of aliens wouldn't get stuck with them, but there could be some modifications that would apply to both the GTW owners and those who buy this new pack to get aliens without the hassle of active careers or retail stuff.
There's also precedent for introducing a new occult species similar to something we already have. We had the Simbots in Ambitions, then we got Plumbots in Into the Future which rendered the Simbots pretty much obsolete. We could get a new alien race that makes the current aliens look pretty shoddy.

Can one be away from the forum for two days without all of this happening? 😅🤣
At first i looked at the icon and immediatly thought 'winter vacation'. But im kind of biased by all the discussion around the hypothetical winter themed pack... then i started reading all of this thread and the resemblance with Batuu is undeniable imo.
Im thrilled! I've been asking for sci fi content all the time!
I think that to get to Batuu we'll need to build a rocket. Batuu will be a world from where our sims will be able to access the unkown regions. Those will be 'hidden' by portals like the realm of magic. Batuu may also depict markets with all the material we'll need for deeper space exploration.
There are so many different unkown regions but devs can only focus in a few of them... there are ice planets, ocean planets with rocky islands, deserts... let's see which ones the devs have chosen... i'm really curious about the weather effects.
There are also so many themes that can be explored... i think that there'll be a jedi temple, lightsabers, the force, pleaseeee don't forget the dark side of the force... this are things that, if this comes to be true, are most likelly to be part of the pack.
But then the planets have much more to it... mining and farm elements, even resorts and casinos...
It's impossible that a game pack will have everything, but i believe at least one of this more 'mundane' features will be explored and will be 'usable' in all worlds. Having some feature that can be used by everyone is a way to make people that is not so much into this very niche theme feel that they have to buy it (for example, the military career in strangerville).

Someone said that simguru Duke said it was not a theme pack. I looked on Twitter and did not find confirmation. I still think it has something to do with snow and mountains. I did not read all 22 pages.

This...everyone I KNEW and the sim ytbers I watched were not much fans and had tons of criticism.

I think it was more the story aspect than the theme. Once you do the story once, there's really not much to do other than enjoy free stuff in the town. I finished the story, then used that save as a jumping off point for my template saves so I don't have to do it again. A SW/Space themed pack would likely not have that sort of story aspect; you might be able to join one of the factions, or maybe just go off on your own as unaffiliated, but you wouldn't have a specific start/middle/end like in the Strangerville pack.

I'm hoping for a Morocco-inspired market quarter, like the section of Batuu you can visit in Galaxy's Edge!

@stilljustme2 I still didn't really love that they did this with vampires 'cause if you wanted everything vampires had to offer you suddenly had to buy 2 packs instead of just one. I don't know if I would really care if they did that again but I'm certain a lot of people would criticise it and that would be understandable
You may not know it but on SIXAM, there are 2 planets that are moon! So if we look at the icon, the central circle these sixam and the other 2 .. well this sound these moon. In addition, the background of the image is dark as on Sixam. These surment an Alien Pack !!
It would be silly to make a pack that has a particular theme like Star wars. It is too focused a subject. and he could lose players. Anyway Sixam has 2 moon. so why her not talking about her.
Future cube hint : "the most popular destination to elope is not yet known"... as in "not yet discovered"... because it's an unknown planet ? And "elope" doesn't necessarily mean "marriage", it could also just mean "escape/run away". I think they used that word on purpose to confuse us. In my french game, there is no mention of marriage, they just used the term "running away". I'm still not sure about the Star Wars theme because it's odd (even though I admit the icon may look like Batuu, and there are hints towards SW), but it might be a different outer space world. Maybe Sixam, or another one created for the pack. Can't wait to know, even if I'm not really interested in that kind of GP.
Anyway, to be honest I still hope that it will be winter or another theme than Star Wars.
I'd rather it be a winter world than Star Wars and I usually get really bored with realism play.
since when is SW realism xD!!
I’m pretty sure they mean it as in, “I generally don’t care for realism play and I am hoping for a winter world (which offers realism). That’s how much I don’t want a Star Wars theme.”
