I think it would also be good if they completely wipe the Spark'd gallery when each contest ends. If they adjusted it so that the entries didn't show up in the normal gallery or favorites and downloads didn't count on both so two separate uploads had to be done, people might not bother and it could clear some of the spam clutter.

I don’t think the plan to, because in the upper left hand corner there is a filter tab labeled theme. So think they plan to keep them all up and have them searchable by that criteria so this could be a gigantic dumpster fire after all is said and done if they don’t start monitoring submissions and editing that part of the gallery.

Oh good golly. Then what's the point?

In truth, I was looking forward to having this new feature in the Gallery, but I really thought it would be different. I was actually hoping it was more of a section where people could start their own challenges and players could browse them and join one or more if they wanted to, just for fun. I didn't know it was going to be this giant vortex of chaos connected to a TV reality game show. What happens if the show fails? What happens to the Spark'd Gallery then? It just becomes useless?

I'm going to be blatantly honest. I feel that this direction has really cheapened the game. Now, if they had included a player friendly challenge section that could sustain itself outside of the show, like what I had hoped for, then it wouldn't be a big deal. But all of this development relying on this show and the monetary giveaway just feels so superficial and far from the actual spirit of The Sims franchise. It's merely sensationalism.

I've been watching Neil Gaiman's American Gods lately and this feels like the sinister work of Mr. World and Media, lol.

I don’t mind the tv show I have watch both episodes so far, and there’s only one more left. I suppose they too were unsure about it thus the initial investment only being in three episodes to start. It’s okay, but I won’t pine for it if it doesn’t return. When you submit an item for the contest you use the plumbob submission button instead of the regular cloud one and it auto hastags your entry with the contest tags. If you try to use the official hashtags in your description neither button will allow you to upload until you remove it. You get a message saying something to the effect of “you don’t have permission to use the official hash tag ____. Please remove and resubmit.” So I think if the show doesn’t get picked up for another run they would just remove that section from the gallery and the hashtags from the submissions making them regular gallery uploads.

I think there are two episodes left @Pamtastic72 -- the finale will probably be over two weeks and something extra special.

I was hoping that the Sparkd challenges would give newer creators a chance to be discovered and for players to find new builds/Sims for their gameplay. But it's been a total mess. They really should have someone go through and remove all the content that doesn't follow the rules especially the custom thumbnails. It would make those who are following the rules a lot easier to spot.

This is why I don’t like challenges on the Gallery, Spark’d or else. People spamming, using custom thumbnails etc ruin the thing for everyone.
And I’m sorry but if people who don’t even respect the rule win, it’s really unfair, disgusting, disrespectful and infuriating. (I’m thinking of a lot of other words but hum, they’re not allowed here.....)

I don't know why custom thumbnails don't automatically get hidden as CC. I feel like they should. Then they at least would be filtered out.

I submitted a build a few weeks back, looked at the Spark'd gallery, was super frustrated, stopped thinking about it, decided to submit another build today and ugh knew I shouldn't have taken another look at the gallery. It's just so so so so so so so so frustrating seeing all the spam. I can't tell if people are seriously this clueless (don't know they're pressing the Spark'd button, don't know what the rules are, don't know what beach/jungle/spooky/rustic/desert/casino means, are submitting UNORIGINAL work) or know and are just EVIL trolls/opportunists and literally ruining the game.

I think they should change how voting works. It shouldn't be the same as the normal gallery. I think it should be like reddit, where we can downvote, because you would think a creative community shouldn't need something like that, but staff aren't moderating or reacting to users' complaints/reporting so let us moderate it ourselves, I guess. I hate that the unrelated submissions at the top stay at the top and continue getting attention and people (WHO ARE THESE GUYS???) keep voting for them and there's nothing anyone can do about it. The only way is to just stop looking at the page. I can't even try to vote for others in peace.

I'd like to log on Monday morning and find that all the spam, meaning posts that break the ground rules, are deleted and we can start the voting with a fresh slate. B) No more custom screenshots, no single Sims, no pregnant teens, etc.

Yup, I submitted a beach wedding venue a week ago and can’t find it on the submissions page at all, I have to track it through my library due to all the spam. It’s really frustrating meanwhile a pregnant teen sim that isn’t even part of the challenge rules sits happily on the first page of the submissions mocking us all with her simpy smile peering at us through her custom thumbnail. :|

The Sparkd section is literally just another regular Gallery. I would have thought they'd have come up with a better vetting system.

We need Actual People working as moderators on the Gallery kind of similar to moderators in the Forums.

The challenge is over and the submissions that are not following the rules are still there.

How am I even going to "pick my favorites" as the game tells me to if they are not following the rules?

The whole thing should have been fun and now I'm just royally annoyed instead. All I can vote on are youtubers at the top of the list and people at the bottom. Scrolling through the mess of submissions breaking the rules gets mighty tiring. Even after 10 minutes I was struggling in the middle trying to see some "regular" people to vote them (if I liked their build) and... it's impossible. There is no way this gallery vote is fair in any way, shape or form if I can't get to all of the votes. This needs/needed to be moderated. I thought after the submissions closed they might go through and take them all down but clearly the team doesn't care to make this fair either.

I'm done with this nonsense. I've tried a couple times, but at some point you have to call it a day. What could have been fun is now a pointless headache. Thanks to all the people who ruined it by not following the rules and an even bigger thank you to the people who "liked" them and gave them fuel. It was also really nice to see some considered "top" creators around the forums and gallery hitting the like button and giving nice comments to the submissions that were breaking the rules. Guess if your popular, rules don't apply to you. You got noticed so that's all that matters at the end of the day right? I was actually really shocked to see some of the people I did supporting the submissions that will be disqualified. I'm following a few less people on the gallery now.

Oh and to be clear, I know those top submissions won't win, but I know I've missed out on some people who might have done something amazing that none of us can see through the trash.

The rules say we're supposed to vote with hearts. Right now it's impossible to see who's got most hearts as the most popular filter only lists the most downloads. So, even if you wish to vote, your vote is in vain.

I just looked. Sim families, Sims with pets -- one person put up one of the base Sims with 2 pets. I agree that somebody needs to weed through the submissions. And I can't even imagine what the build submissions look like.

They’re a mess, and some users have submitted their same build 2, 3 or more times and others have downloaded and tweaked another user’s build and then submitted it as their own work. This was a garbage way of doing this and it’s really unfair to everyone who played by the rules.

I've said this before but I'll reiterate. I think the main gallery needs to be completely separate from the Spark'd gallery. This is one of the main issues and this is why some of the random uploads are getting so many "votes". People can see them on the regular gallery and if they like them, they download or "heart" them, which effects their standing on the Spark'd gallery. It sometimes has nothing to do with the Spark'd competition. If they changed it so that an upload in the Spark'd gallery had disclaimers and questions to click through first, then when it went live it didn't appear on the normal gallery, it might discourage people from uploading it twice and having to go through a process every time they want to put something up. Especially if those entries are wiped between contest themes. Then all of those "likes" and downloads get erased anyway.

They also seriously need some moderation too. Maybe the reason they can't moderate too well is because the two gallery segments are tied too close together. The way it's going now...the Spark'd section is going to end up being a useless extra tab because it doesn't work the way it should.

The voting has ended with all this mess going around during all the voting period. There's no way this is going to be fair.

I don't participate building or whatever but i did try to vote for the buildings i liked as i use the gallery a lot and i thought of it as giving something back to the people that builds the amazing buildings that i use in my game.

Well... that was impossible. Even trying hard, scrolling down throught hundreds of entries, i've seen only like a dozen of the upper valid entries.
    After hours of searching...

i think it's abominable if they don't assume that this was a mistake and invalidate this voting. It's what they should do and people will most likelly understand and support that decision.

Only when a fair and better way is thought out and properly prepared should this voting be restarted.

This is why I post little to nothing in the gallery, and the challenges do not interest me.

I mean, why vote for an interesting and unique sim when there's always the same non-descript barbie that takes up 90% of the gallery?

Posted this on another thread, but think maybe it should go here:

Don't know if this is the right place to post, but I did have a question on how the top 100 lots are going to be selected. Right now the Spark'd lot part of the gallery is filled with lots reuploaded from another creator and lots which do not fit the challenge criteria (i.e. just regular homes and not per se wedding venues under the five categories). So it's difficult to wade through all of that AND vote for lots which actually qualify. \

I did upload a lot following the challenge criteria so I am wondering, if you are just going to take the top 100 lots no matter if they meet the criteria, just delete those which do not comply and then judge only the remaining lots OR if the lots will be weeded through and ONLY the top 100 qualifying lots will be judged. Would you know what the procedure will be? Because if it's the first way, I have no chance at the top 100 because of all the unqualified lots.

    Thanks!

I don't understand how people are able to submit multiple entries. You should only be able to submit ONE.

@TheRealTacomama, the rules didn't prohibit multiple entries. It did prohibit CC, custom poses, other people's work, etc. but not multiple entries.
