... so pack your Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ... get your towel ready ... put your Babel Fish in your ear and remember ...

DON'T PANIC!!!!! :o:D

I have decided to start a new thread as the last post for the old one was Oct 2016 ... goodness me ... that long ago :o ??? ....
Here's the link https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/842834/betelgeuse-a-sim-colony-in-the-sea-of-obscurity-new-pictures#latest
if anyone fancies a look.

The great super computer Deep Thought tried for seven and a half million years to solve the question of 'Life, the Universe and Everything' so I presume a few years waiting for Betelgeuse to be uploaded to the Exchange may not have made any difference to anyone.

Betelgeuse uses most EPs and SPs but definitely requires Lunar Lakes for the fantasy vegetation and the rabbit holes, Into the Future for tube elevators, furnishings etc, Lucky Palms and the casino for plants, windows and gambling items, Late night for subways, Supernatural for the Llamas and having the Futureshock store stuff would also be an advantage.
Everything else that you don't have will be replaced by generic EA stuff and should not make any difference to the game play.
If you see a fish on the wall, a cowplant sculpture... or even a toilet somewhere where it doesn't make sense you know that I have originally placed a very pretty or useful object there that you obviously should have put on your wish list eons ago ;):p

If you decide to download and try out this world could you please let me know if there are any major problems you may have encountered ... I've tried really hard to eliminate most routing errors but I'm fairly certain there will be things that I have missed.

Hope you'll enjoy looking at the following pictures ... at least they are all without the photobucket logo until Imgur decides to go the same route ;)

And now without further ado here is finally what you have all been patiently waiting for .... the link to download.

I wish you fun and Happy Simming ... even if you end up obliterating Betelgeuse by calling in a Vogon favour and turning this world into another hyperspace bypass :#;)

Wow, that looks amazing! The level of detail is out of this world (no pun intended)! <3 And is it my imagination, or do you have a lot shaped like the Enterprise, hehe? :p

@LMC6255 thank you so much for posting all these fabulous screenshots of your gorgeous sim Theresa exploring Betelgeuse. I've sent you a PM but just wanted to say here as well that without all your encouragement this world would have probably never made it to the Exchange :D x

@Hidehi I love what you've done and your references to Star Trek and the Borg. I'm going to have to download for a closer look.

    Hi @suzses :D
thank you so much for popping by!!! .... Even though most things on Betelgeuse are supposed to be related to Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I have mentioned a few other SciFi movies or TV series too ;)
Have fun if you decide to have a closer look ... take care and stay safe! :) x

I did know it's predominantly Hitchhiker's, but I enjoyed those little added things, and I will have fun looking for more when I download it. :) I'm thinking it likely has some Futureshock, and I saw some Atomic Age, so I think I'm going to be lacking some things that I may pick up. Wish the worlds showed store stuff on the exchange like other downloads do. It would make it easier to figure out.

Hi @suzses :D , it is definitely a nuisance that the Exchange doesn't show store stuff for an uploaded world ... it doesn't even register EPs or SPs which makes it so much more difficult to decide if it is worth to download a world or not.

I'm afraid Betelgeuse uses a fair amount of items from the Futureshock set and I think a table and chair from Atomic Age ... and I wouldn't have a clue what the game replaces those with ... all I know is if you don't own the basketball court for instance it will be substituted with a pretty flower vase and the toilet appears when a hot tub is missing ;) ... it's sometimes quite funny actually but it doesn't help with the intended aesthetics of the build :#

    Hi @Hidehi

I am no longer on the forums very much due to ill health but after allowing myself a few minutes to do so I came across your beautiful world. I always adored Lunar lakes style but it never felt big enough your world looks so much more exciting and i will finally be able to cross a lunar lakes style world with ITF which how I prefer to play those two worlds. Thank you again for your wonderful creativity and ongoing support to the 3 community it is much appreciated. :)<3

    Edit:

I have downloaded your world and I love it <3 I am gobsmacked at all the beautiful builds and how many community lots my sims have to choose from on a smaller map than i am normally used to playing in. I am sure my sims will love living there while going back and forth into ITF. Thank you for all your hard work and any build creators that may have helped you :)

Hello @SPARKY1922 , how lovely to read you ... missed seeing you around the forums!!! :)

Thank you sooo much for your kind comments. It makes me very happy that you and your sims are enjoying their stay on Betelgeuse :D

So sorry that you are still having to cope with ongoing health issues but I very much hope that The Sims provide you with enough distraction to make RL a little easier. Take care and stay safe :) x

I love the nod to Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. "42".

    Hi @Nikkei_Simmer :D

thank you very much for leaving your comment!! ... There are actually quite a lot of references to the Hitchhiker's Guide on Betelgeuse e.g. 'Don't Panic' fire station, 'Vogon Poetry Festival' , 'Milliways', a road called 'Disaster Area' and another one 'Hyperspace Bypass' etc ... must admit "42" is rather noticeable though ;)

I'd like to take the opportunity to partly quote @AlphaFFrog 's comment on My Page as this is just full of awesome wisdom and 'Deep Thought' should have really come up with that answer: "Not to Dent the wisdom of the Hitch-hikers Guide but the answer to the life, the universe and everything isn't 42 but the Sims ;) " ... how true is that!?! :p

    This world looks phenomenal.
Will have to download all the store content and try it out. (Fingers crossed my uber-tempermental game stays working)

@Hidehi it's such a beautiful world and it plays great (the kids added another 8 gigs of ram to my pc and so far my game is behaving)

My sim was spoiled for choice when it came to picking a new home but he settled on Ferengi and he loves it. He had to remove one of the parking spots to make space for his sculpting station cos a sim has to make a living and his broomstick doesn't take up much space. But I must admit he hasn't done any work at all since arriving in Betelgeuse. First thing he did was check out the consignment store and he was thrilled to discover the supernatural checkout. After that he won 10,000 simoleons at the casino and met some nice people at the vogon poetry festival. Normally when he moves in somewhere he upgrades all the plumbing, sculpts a few topiarys or paints something for the walls and moves on but he's going to take some time off and explore the rest of this world. I think he spotted a park with money trees, maybe it's time he learned the gardening skill^^

Thank you for creating and sharing such an amazing world.

I think I know this but just to check, I have no mods or cc. Do you use them in this world?

Hi @JACKIEJOY , thank you for your interest in Betelgeuse. :)

I can confirm that this world has been created without mods and 3rd party cc. It just has a fair amount of store content.
Have a great day and happy simming!

I basically own the store so that is no problem. I just want to say thank you for your effort and art. It is a beautiful world and I feel guilty because it is about to suffer an apocalypse. I promise that The Order Of Redheaded Step Children will rebuild it. (Yes I have red hair and a step parent.)
