That Strange Red, White and Question Mark Thing, Please Help

After the hotfix patch suddenly some of my Sims were sporting this 'skin'. In the past it has been related to cc clothing, in particular. But, I have been able to take my Sims into cas.fulleditmode and try on the 18th century cc clothing I have, plus the four or five hairstyles I have. Their skin is normal. What I have found, curiously enough, is that most of the trouble is coming from the Island Living clothes/shoes.

What do you think could be causing this? I thought that if their skin went back to normal in CAS, especially when wearing the cc, that would mean it's not the cause. This being a more preferable way of 'testing' that cc. However, just when I was able to fix the one family by changing out the offensive clothing, the mom gets a phone call from her neighbor, Judith Ward. Judith's got the 'disease' now.

Could a mod possibly be doing this? Most of the mods I have in my game have been given the okay by their creators to use. Private Practice, I just had to leave out the career package. SOL was said to be mostly working and Road to Fame was given the nod. RoBurky's Meaningful Stories was good to go. I'm stumped.

That leaves the cc. I'm really lamenting having to pull things out just to find the culprit. I may go ahead and 'box' items together into separate folders and yank the folders one at a time to try to locate the demon. Does anyone know of a better way, by chance?

Please, if you can, help me. This is making me crazy. I didn't get but a hour's play yesterday. True enough, these were existing game saves, but they didn't crash upon entering them after the original patch. As I said, this trouble came after I downloaded the hotfix. Oh, boy. I'm really glad I didn't buy the EP about now.

~ Yes, usually it is a mesh missing, in CC, but with some EA outfits like the scout outfit to name one, it is a graphic error, I have seen in the passed this transferred to objects as well, the Island living Towels, which do not show up for people with lower end PC's & have they graphics set to low or medium so their game will run smoothly!( upon setting their graphics higher the towels showed up!)
~ I know these do not sound related, but they all are fixed by setting the Graphics to High in settings!
~ I could be totally wrong, but it sounds like a graphics problem, what have you got your game set at (low,medium or high) & what type of graphics card do you have?

Okay, I just checked. I've got everything set at high or very high already. Plus, this is a gaming rig. I've got an NVIDIA GTX 650 card installed.

~ How old is your Gaming rig?as I had a NVidia GTX 750 three PC's ago, I now have my own built PC, & my card is NVidia GTX 2080 , I was having graphic issues with my NVidia 1070, (my last PC) but that was mainly due to my CPU being not strong enough to run the Video card properly!!( the CPU & Mother board were over 7 years old & needed upgrading! The Video card was only 4 years old)
~ I have every game for the Sims 4, so it is only natural for things to get laggy, though in the Sims 4 they just tend to not show, I was helping Simmers on a FB Sims page with PC & Gaming problems, (#SAA) so going by what they experienced (though I have not experienced lag in the Sims 4, just graphics getting blurry, & my eyes don't need that!) the lag happened to me in the Sims 3 ( I had to upgrade three times to handle the load of all the EX & SP & store content, in fact my NV GTX 750 was what I came into the Sims 4 with)
~ So maybe look at what you need to run what you have installed & if in doubt get in contact with EA Help/EA Answers as they will tell you straight out what is needed for what games you have installed, I am so sorry I could not help you with this but going to the people whom know the game as they built it will be faster! (& also if the CC or Mesh is HQ, it needs a high end PC with a High end Graphics card to make them show properly,( also a heads up they are very high in Polies & with just a few of those HQ meshes/CC in your PC will impact your game performance! So avoid them if at all possible till you upgrade your PC! Not saying yours are, but just in case they are they do impact game play if your PC can not handle them!)

I am having this SAME issue. I downloaded eco living (I have NO MODS) and I got to play it for a couple days, then all of a sudden some of the floor squares were question marks, which isn't even the worst problem. The main problem is that my sims were no where to be found and all of the doors were deleted. I deleted all of my saved games and was going to start fresh, but now CAS doesn't work AT ALL! What the heck is going on here. I have a Mac. I believe it was after the latest patch that everything went awry!

My problem has since been solved. I pulled the mods folder, entirely,repaired the game, then when the problem persisted, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, twice. Then, I pulled out all of the 18th century clothing cc and hair and only added back my mods as they were updated. I was able to start with MCCC, as that was already updated. The long and the short of it is, it's not my PC, Vid card or anything else. I've even been able to slowly add back the cc and the game is just fine, now. Many thanks for all of the advice and help. @Kayla T, I hope you get your game sorted out. Try the uninstall and reinstall. Best of luck.
