      Yum, though the hubs and I differ on our takes on it: he grew up on the version in which the shortcake is actually something we in the South would have put gravy on: biscuits! So he likes Yankee shortcake, and my idea of it had a spongecake base.

      Luckily I make really good biscuits and if he wants them with strawberries and whipped cream, that's how he gets them. :)

      looks too candied for me, though a hint of sweetness and a lot of spice, also sounds really good.

      My own creation: Grain-Free Vegan Ice Cream Whoopie Pie: the brownie top and bottom are made entirely from peanut butter, banana, and cacao (with sugar etc) and the soft serve filling is actually 100% ripe frozen banana put through the machine.
