I have. Black ice on the highway, started fishtailing, foolishly braked, went into a 360 spin, half the car was briefly airborne but settled again, then rear-ended into a snowbank on the side. Everything happened in slow motion and I still remember how surreal it was to be slowly rotating while wrestling with the wheel, watching oncoming highway traffic appearing to hold still as I saw the shocked faces of other drives facing me through the windshield.
It definitely brought on an altered state of consciousness. Luckily the snowbank absorbed so much of the impact that the airbags didn't even deploy, no one was hurt, and all I got was a case of the shakes later...and I hope, better sense than to ever brake with front brakes when the rear end loses control.
The other accident I was in, also involved ice, but it was the other driver's fault, as his truck lost control on ice coming off a bridge while I was at a stop sign about to turn. I had about a second to register that he was on a trajectory to T-bone me, that I could not reverse in time, so had to get forward, and managed to pull forward maybe a foot before the impact, which was good because the truck then hit my car on the rear tire, whipped me around 90 degrees...into oncoming traffic off the highway bridge, and part of my brain was cursing while I realized I had a few seconds to get off the road before a head-on collision and probably pileup.
Luckily there was a place to do that, and I had the awesome luck to pull into the driveway of a first responder, who was home and made the call for help. My car was totaled but the insurance reimbursed fully.
If anyone ever asks me whether I think I'm lucky, I kind of have to say yes. I've gotten into a lot of scrapes, but somehow also managed to get out of them alive and basically whole.
