Eco Lifestyle -- Did you know?

Someone said we need a "did you know" thread for all the discoveries we make, so here goes:

There are about 5 different swatches of the paper bag.
Your Sim can recycle things from household inventory as well as personal inventory. Good-by Sim Idol Rug and computer hard drive!

Yey! I love these kind of threads.

Did you know if your sim showers in the rain in an industrial neighbourhood, your sim loses hygiene?
(I saw this in a playthrough but not tested it myself).

Did you know most (maybe all?) Island Living wall papers are eco friendly?

LOVE that showering detail! I wonder what other hidden cross-pack gems there are to find? :)

DID YOU KNOW that you can fail at the fabricator and it sprays you with dye and your sim gets a rainbow skin for a while?

Did you know if you have the recycling lot trait you can take your trash to the dump?

Did you know that kids can gain influence points? They can’t vote yet.

I was wondering about kids. But at least when they become teens, they'll have plenty of influence to vote with.

Any chance they could recycle those Discover university diplomas so I can take them off my household inventory ?

If you have Seasons installed your sim can gather snow as a water surplus. My sim is living off the grid and could only take quick tepid showers, but as soon as she gathered some snow she was able to take a complete shower.

Did you know that the gather water function and water surplus is base game, it came with the patch? I tested it without eco lifestyle installed and my sim could collect water at the fishing spot and take complete shower and normal bath while being off the grid. :)

The energy surplus for off the grid lots seems to be eco lifestyle only, though.

Very nice that they expanded a bit more on off the grid without needing the pack. :)

Apparently your sim can test food from dumpster diving to see if said food is fresh. (Might tie into the freegan trait).
Of course 'kinda' fresh doesn't mean much to a sim as it still tasted bad.

If you have a squeemish sim and they go dumpster diving they will throw up afterwards (even though he had auto dived)

If other sims use the recycling machine on your lot you get the bits and pieces :)

Items all have different bits and pieces values when put in the recycling machine - a pile of trash will give lots more than a piece of fruit, for example

Hi guys I purchased the eco living expansion pack, have joined the civil designer career and currently under the title Urban Surveyor - when I work from home it gives me 2 tasks - check the community board and Submit a Municipal Concept, when hovering over this task with the mouse, it says I can submit this concept to innovative solutions Corp by clicking on the mail box, but the only options when I click my mail box are Vote on neighbourhood action plans, Get Mail and Show Bill info... Please help, I have googled for hours and yet can find absolutely NOTHING about submitting a concept... I have the option when socialising with other sims to 'Present Concept' but it doesn't let me select it and says "concepts must be owned and can only be presented once".... What on earth does all of this mean???!!

It means your sim must first come up with a concept to submit. Try on a computer, probably under careers. If it's not that, maybe the electronic drafting tablet. Not sure as my sim is in the other branch of the career.

In-game households turn up to your community spaces, and not random townies. Anyone else notice the same? You can see a few famous sims (like Bella who is behind the pillar, and Dina etc.) in the pic below. The community lot got REALLY busy and sims were queuing up to use the machines. The whole place sprung to life.

You should have been given a tablet, in your inventory, when you got promoted; so you can do this new job task. :)

Also, someone may have already mentioned this, but: did you know you can harvest wax from soy bean plants in vertical planters and make candles with it?
