Has anyone ever had sims they didn't purposely kill in the Sims 4 die?

Is it on-purpose if I routinely keep sims locked in a basement and sometimes they die of old age?

@Ravenna Is this the kind of place you lock them up? :p

It's a nice looking comfy house on the surface.

But underground lies a cold-war era interrogation and imprisonment facility that officially doesn't exist...

I wish there were more surprises in this iteration in general. Sims barely ever die, or get abducted by aliens etc.

I miss my sims getting alien abducted it was so funny.
As for the deaths, unless I foolishly get my sims to fight the Motherplant or play the Black Widow Achievement Challenge (LOL) my sims usually don't die.

I had a club set up for the offspring of my Get Famous actress and Don Lothario with the workout trait. Had no idea the elders had issues with working out til Don literally worked himself to death visiting his daughter's home. Had weeping kids and grand kids all over the place...was awful.

The other week I had one sim (my simself’s son) die from a poison dart in the jungle from going through the initial entrance to the jungle. He finally managed to get his wife (his childhood sweetheart) to go for a holiday other than granite falls as she was reluctant to go and he gets poisoned and died from the poison. They had just moved home to retire in as both daughters had moved away. I was so upset by his death but it’s given his wife a new direction story wise and she’s got a puppy to help her move forward.

Yes. It took ages, but I finally had Emotional deaths. My Global Superstar (Rock Star with a Pristine Reputation) threw his first Charity Event down at a local bar. He invited all the rich Sims he knew, which included his parents and his brother-in-law and sister to attend. Vulcans, even half-Vulcans such as Spock don't normally imbibe juice. But Spock was having himself a merry ol' time and then Erik made the mistake of telling him a joke. (Hey, it was on the list of things he had to fulfill). Evidently, it was more than the Vulcan/Human hybrid to withstand, his emotions on overload. Next thing I knew :

    Not long after, his wife:

I attempted to carry on with that game save, but Erik was now in charge of his two orphaned toddler twin nephews.

The tots wouldn't eat. I was very afraid the Social Workers would sweep them away!

I ended up rolling back a save or so to avoid the same fate. But, for some odd reason the game itself seemed to target Erik.

Rolling back a few game save didn't stop this. I don't have a final picture of Erik's passing, as I suddenly recalled I had made a back-up of the save prior to patching. I changed out the saves folder and also did something I never expected to do. I used MCCC to block emotional deaths. I'm hoping this weird targeting of certain Sims will be fixed, as I am of the opinion that it's a glitch.

I've never had an accidental death on my sims in TS4. Once an unplayed sim froze, so that's the closest I get. Often when there's a fire I do absolutely nothing and see how they manage. Usually they get away from it but even if they don't the death is hardly a surprise. I wish I got some more accidental deaths.

Be careful what you wish for. See my post above.

My sims get abducted all the time! I visited a household to check something last night and my spell caster was instantly taken into the sky. They don't own a satellite or have anyone in the scientist career. Probably his high logic skill? Either way, if I go a couple days without an abduction I'm surprised.
