I like Star Wars but my recent experience with Star Wars on EA has been throughly horrible, i'm not likely to consider this Star Wars game in my lifetime unfortunately. Not getting into the story as to why, sufficed to say i'm more interested in the other games like Mass Effect, their dlc's, Dragon Age inquisition, plus all dlcs for 2 and Inquisition, et al.
It'll Be interesting to see what Valve and EA can pull off on this deal and if it will have competition between Origin and Steam, with steam being the one most likely users will gravitate towards to avoid having to run a second DRM platform at the same time.
Is there any news on when The Sims 4 will be on Steam? I have the base game on Origin, and I almost took advantage of the current sale, but I'd much rather have the game on Steam. I just hope the wait isn't too long.
Does this mean the partnership is just for the EA Access subscription? Or will you also be able to Buy the EA games to keep, even if later you no longer want to subscribe?
(The wording of the announcement makes me wonder, and I just wanted to be sure of exactly what the deal is.)
"The partnership kicks off with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderβ’ launching on November 15βand available for pre-order today. In the coming months, players on Steam will also be able to play other major titles like The Simsβ’ 4..."
The way it mentions The Sims 4 in the coming months, and Apex Legends as "next year" makes me hope that means TS4 is coming at least by the end of December. Make it happen EA.

As long as it's not going to cost me anything more, fine. I already have Steam for Terraria and Auditorium (which I was a little ticked about, because I bought Auditorium when it first came out, then had to re-buy it on Steam later. If that happens with Sims, fuggedaboudit, I'm finding another hobby.

Steam is Valve's proprietary DRM, just like Origin is for EA and UPlay is for Ubisoft. Valve takes 30% of what you pay, with the rest going to the publisher. And so, while you will be able to rig your Steam account to launch your Origin copy of The Sims 4, that copy will still be connected with your Origin account and would have no functionality on Valve's system. If you want things like the Steam Workshop to function with your game then you're going to have to purchase it via Steam in order for Valve to get their cut.
Really, there's no point. Mod installation is a matter of drag-n-drop, and even if one is somehow unable to figure that out is it worth purchasing the core title and all DLC again just to have the Workshop?

I doubt they're gonna let you transfer ownership to Steam. At this point, they're just going after the Steam-only holdouts that don't buy games on Origin if they can help it.(like me) The Sims 4 still hits 50k concurrent players and that's huge. It'd be in the top 5 most played games on Steam with those numbers. I'll be one of those numbers too, whenever they release it. I just want some news! I've got that Sims itch, but I don't wanna get the dlc packs on Origin knowing that a Steam version is coming.
It's been over 6 months since the announcement of The Sims 4 and other EA games coming to Steam, and there hasn't been a single update since. What's going on? It's free money EA, flip the switch.

TS3 isn't but we will see.

Jedi Fallen Order does not require EA Access.
EA Access launch on Steam is later (Spring).

Steam or Origin ? It doesn't matter if GOG Galaxy 2.0 merge all your libraries.

The Sims 4 General DiscussionI'm hoping they do too, I know they only allowed Steam to Origin with TS3 but maybe this time around they'll consider both.
