A Way for Simmers to Participate in the Fight Against COVID-19

Folding@home is a distributed computing project currently based at WUSM. For those of you who aren't familiar with distributed computing, it is basically about solving a problem by dividing it into many tasks, each of which is solved by one or more computers, which communicate with each other, thus providing the combined computational power of a super computer.

This computational power is needed in many fields of medicine, and Folding@home has been active in the fight against cancer, Alzheimer's and other diseases for quite some time. It now also offers the possibility to participate in COVID-19 related projects.

You can download the software here (Win/Mac/Linux):

Despite it's scientific context the software is very easy to use and configure. I haven't noticed any performance problems, if you do you can configure Folding@home to work only when your computer is idle.

Many gamers have donated some of their computing time during the last days, I guess that includes a lot of simmers. If you are one of them, please share.
