Check out Cindy's Pleasantsims.com she has the best maxis match cc for Sims 2. (Credits to her for uploading all of it). She also on her youtube PleasantSims has a guide to making your Sims houses more realistic and neighbourhoods.
On MTS, I use a lot of Plasticbox houses, they are really nice.
Rented Space's tumblr has a lot of cool maxis match stuff.
Veranka has converted a ton of TS3 sets to the Sims 2.
A website I used back in the 'TS2' days was stylishsims.com but that is all aplha, which i'm not keen on but if you like alpha they've got some good stuff.
Also, for building houses (my town which I play every now and then in the TS2, is an American themed town called 'Lumdehe Valley' set in New England. I use the bespoke build set for an area of my town's houses called Four Corners, which are new build suburbans, and using this set makes them look great
By the way can somebody explain me how to properly install CC? Whenever I try to do it it never appears in my game and I don't understand why.
You have to install CEP. Couldn't find the old link to download and install CEP but nothing will show up if it's not installed other than Maxis recolors of clothes etc.
Here are step by step instructions of where to put the right files. They assume you have installed CEP, too.

I would however go ahead and get it even if you don't have any Maxis object recolors. It's not that large of a file and will keep you from forgetting to grab it when you download a Maxis object recolor in the future.
And in case you do not want huge Downloads folder, just don't want your sims to use maxis hair/clothing/genetics, then this is the best place, simply replace the defaults. https://sims2defaults.dreamwidth.org/
My love, my love, my fearless love, I will not say goodbye..
Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..

That's funny I always thought I needed CEP to see any of my custom content (objects) because I had 13GBs and none of it (objects) would show up without it, including objects extracted from other games like Fall Out, or ARC etc.

The download page only mentions recolors of EA objects and that's all I had ever heard needing it.
But who knows if anything changed that - wouldn't surprise me if a later patch "broke" the game into requiring CEP for non-EA objects and it didn't get caught. So many of us veteran Simmers had that pretty quickly because recolors are necessary in this game if you want any kind of large variety. And new EP's and SP's didn't break CEP, just required their objects to be added.

Trying not to derail, but I assume (and could be very wrong) most things are cloned from Maxis objects and why we need CEP? I used to know all this stuff but no longer remember in my old age. Seriously. And I could be wrong. But most new objects but with different bhavs are cloned from that bowl of fruit and or that little plant with blue vase and or chest of drawers in particular. I just know I have to also have Russia or Germany version of CEP file in my game (which many times comes in their dowloads) when I download and install any of the great, great objects from Cradle of Darkness, but I could be wrong.

Thank u all for ur suggestions! I still need to figure out how to properly install CC and I don't know why it's giving me a hard time despite now having CEP.

Correction on CEP.
CEP is only needed for recolors of Maxis objects.

You can do searches to find certain type of hair.

I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me, though.
