I actually coaxed Sims3 to load on my laptop to have a try at this shell. But there was some serious lag that had the camera jumping allover the place, especially when I tred to use CAD that I just got tired of it. Two hours to get one room mostly done....:P

    **TS3* Build-n-Share Challenge #225 *A Tiny Hangout **Due April 30th, 2020**

    A Tiny Hangout

You are just tidying up your office when you hear the door close behind you. You turn to find a teen-aged boy slouching into the room. His hair is black, and his eyes are bright blue. He is about medium build, although it is hard to be sure since his clothes are so baggy.
"Hello," you say warmly. "How can I help you today?"
He looks at you blankly. You notice the wires coming out of his ears. He removes his ear buds, and you repeat yourself.
"Yeah, hey," he acknowledges you. "I am just starting college in the fall."
He pauses, so you congratulate him. Then you wonder why he is here, smacking the gum in his mouth and staring at you.
"Yeah. yeah," he finally continues after a very long moment. "My parents have given me a small plot of their estate to live on."
Again he pauses, but this time you merely wait on him.
"Right, so...I need a place to live," he says. "You know, on this land. But I don't know how to build, do I? So I've come to you to build it."
"Well, you have come to the right place, Mr?"
"Oh, right. Yeah. I am Guy Orange," he says, giving you a slight smile that looks suspiciously like a smirk.
"Well, Mr. Orange, let's start with some basics. How big is the lot we have to work with?" you ask politely.
"Yeah. It measures 20 by 15," his eyes never leave you. His staring is beginning to make you jittery.
Suddenly he blurts out, "Half of the lot needs to be a hangout space, maybe around a fire pit. For me and my mates."
"Okay," you say, hiding your shock with some quick note taking. "You will need a bathroom, a place to sleep, a place to eat... What else would you like?"
"Yeah, so... a place to study. And a place to play video games."
"That is very do-able. What is the budget?" you ask briskly.
Still staring and chomping on his gum, he answers, "They gave me $30,000. Yeah. I need this quick. They want me out of the house, like yesterday."
"I can have it for you by the end of the month," you assure him.
"Yeah. Get to it then," he says, putting his ear buds back into his ears and still staring at you. You nod as he gets up and slinks out of your office. As soon as the door closes, you pull out a small mirror and check your teeth for any food caught in them, wondering what he had been staring at.

    The brief:
    *due April 30, 2020
*the budget is $30,000, which does not include the cost of the lot.
    *use a 20x15 lot.
*the house itself should be no bigger than half of the lot, placed at one end of the lot. You can build up and down in the same footprint.
*outside needs a fire pit and landscaping.
*have spaces for a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, a study, and a place to play video games.

    The Sims Challenge:
*create Guy Orange and his family.
*show all their clothing choice and give skills, likes, etc.
*show them looking around Guy's new home.

Don't you mean 10x15 as half of 20x15? 10x7 would be a quarter.
    Love the challenge. Not so loving of the student's attitude. ; }

LOL Yes, he does have an attitude problem!

The reason behind the 10x7 is that you cannot build all the way to the edge of the lot. Yes, it really is only a quarter, now that you mention it. But we are sticking with the 10x7 footprint. Although it sounds tiny, remember you can build up and down within that space.
Here is my ground floor, as a comparison of what the size is compared to the lot:

This challenge looks so fun I love making starter homes because they don't have giant open rooms lol

I know 10x7 isn't that tiny, and I know you can't build all the way to edge of the lot; but you had said half and then said 10x7, so I thought I'd point out the discrepancy. I'll probably play along with this later.

This looks interesting! I like building tiny homes and his character sounds fun, lol! I have questions, though I hope that's ok? Can you build the lot in any world or do you have a set world folks are supposed to build in? Since he is a teen, I can make an older brother/sister/aunt /family member to make it a household?

Any world is fine, and as a teen he'd have to start out as a member of another household without any mods; so that sounds reasonable to me.

Unfortunately being in an essential line of work has made it difficult for me to find time to finish my Spring Designer Showdown entry by the deadline. I don't expect it to count as an entry, but I had a lot of fun with this challenge & would like to share! :) It was also so much fun seeing everyone's builds. It's hard to believe all these builds were the same foundation (may I suggest more shell-based challenges in the future???)

I'm looking forward to this month's challenge, happy building everyone!

Since this was my mistake, and since no one seems to be willing to actual judge Sims 3 anymore, go ahead and use half the lot if you need to.

Please still post the formal entry because it makes the entries easier to find. And just in case someone does start judging them again.

I have a question @iampes23 so we're allowed to use 70 tiles and build up and down and the build does it to be a box ?

No, the build does not have to be a box. And we are scrapping the 10x7 rule since it was originally stated in the scenario that half of the lot could be used for the house. I need to pay more attention to what I am writing. :D I edited the challenge.
