What hints do we currently have for future packs?

«1
Here's what I know:

Definitive hints
  • Code found in-game related to horses

May be hints? May not be hints?
  • Winter Vacation/ another vacation GP popping up in most EA surveys regarding future packs starting from last year
  • Happy haunts ranking second in Community votes
  • Celebrities advertising the game recently
  • Simgurus saying that now the most wanted themes are out of the way (=Seasons, Island living, Witches, Cats&Dogs, Parenthood, DiscoverUniversity, etc) 2020 will be *full of less expected and unexpected twists*
  • 2-year space between Vampires and ROM
  • No recent Maxis monthly nor teases (after Tiny Living)
  • 20 Anniversary update only giving us a bath tub that completely destroys Perfect Patio's reason to be bought

The games for Farming with Horses, Happy Haunts with Gypsies, Werewolves & Winter Resorts probably won't be released until the CV is cured.

Wow. I hope we don't have to wait that long. While I'm not saying gaming should be a priority for most people, it's not like Maxis/EA is shutting down. People need distractions too.

I'm hoping the first pack is one on resorts. We need hotels along with more pool objects to place in Sulani. I'm also hoping the Fall will bring us a Winter Vacation Destination with new snow activities.

I'm curious how a hotel system would be implemented, would it work similar to an apartment where guests can call or see the concierge in person about complaints, towels, etc?

So you are paying for pets and vacations at least twice?

I saw that one coming years ago!

The obvious one is a Farming related pack since Seasons.

I wonder if the chickens in Sulani were a hint to farming.

To be honest? I would be really, really angry should they decide to release a farming pack with horses. Not because I am against adding them to the game (I am not really interested in them, but I still know that it's a long-term wish of many simmers), it's because it's just the worst to split animals into 3(!) different packs, while in past games, you only had to buy one to have all of them and more (there were freaking penguins in TS2 god 🐸🐸🐸🐸).

Again, I am not against adding horses into the game, I just really despise the way they're splitting up content this time around.

Same thing with hotels. Even though I'd really like to have them in my game, I don't know if I would pay for a feature that should have been included in Island Living (or even OR). It's like paying 40$ for a game that you know will only be complete after paying another 20, maybe even 30$ additionally.

Hopefully like Restuarents with Dine Out meaning we could place them in any world.

if its farming with horses then we'd possibly be getting pigs, chickens, sheep, and cows which added with other farming stuff like tractors, solar panels, nectar making, wells, and maybe even ATVs i'd totally be fine with it split and spend another $40 on pets.

Arcades, casinos, time travel, amusement parks, hotels and resorts, occults like werewolves and maybe an update to the personality system (likes and dislikes, attraction system etc).

Whatever EA does it will just be a rehash of Sims 3,2, that is all it has been since they created Sims 4 very little originality in the Sims 4.

Yes but it will add new elements like in Seasons were sims can decorate a tree and have holidays with the calendar.

I honestly think time travel/future travel and even so amusement parks are very predictable at this point given they seem to be retracing their typical evolution of expansion packs. When I think unexpected, I think something new that we may have not already seen in previous versions of the Sims. I'd still love to see increased travel, hotels, and other elements of previous games, but it wouldn't be "unexpected".

SimGuruDuke has ruled out Amusement Parks as our next pack for the short term anyway.

Let's be real, the only reason they managed to do pets AND horses in TS3, was because the pet animations (like most TS3 animations) were re-used from TS2. It's not fair to compare it to TS4, because In TS4, they're building them from scratch. That's more work (arguably it's work they didn't have to do, but it's work they did, so here we are).

They're also not deliberately holding horses back from Cats & Dogs. C&D was nearly 3 years ago. The choice to make horses was made much later in development, on its own, separate budget.

No way are we getting ALL that.

    Tractors? Maybe.
A farm animal? Maybe. An interactive chicken coop, like the Store object from TS3, is possible.
Cows will likely be able to be made in Create-a-Pet, just like how we could make foxes and raccoons. It'll be a fun little extra, not a full-fledged animal in its own right.

Pigs we'll never get, because the only reason we farm pigs is to kill them, and that's not gonna be in a Sims game. Chickens we can at least get eggs from, and cows milk.

    Nectar-making? Sure.
Some kind of farmable crop seems pretty likely in a farming pack, and nectar would be something we could use a whole range of harvestables for.

But let's think Game Pack, not Expansion. There'll be one or two fleshed-out activities (horses and nectar is my guess) and some standalone objects like chicken coops and tractors. I wouldn't expect more than that.

How do you know that they're building the animations from scratch? Do you work for EA? Incidentally, there are a lot of animations copied from TS3 to TS4 like the martial arts animations for example. I wouldn't be surprised if they copied the animations for the horses from TS3 to save money.

The 4 *****PET****** animations (we're talking about pets, not martial arts) are completely different. Ergo, from scratch.

How do you know that? You were talking about how TS3 copied animations from TS2. I was just mentioning that TS4 copied animations from TS3 too. So TS4 is guilty of it as well.

You make it sound like EAxis does so much work, but if they did, the packs would be more filled out with gameplay and they would make sure they weren't adding new bugs to the ever growing pile. Plus animating horses isn't THAT much work.

When TS3 came out with horses in their Pets EP, someone came out with a ridable horse mod for TS2 (because there are no horses in the original TS2). So if ONE modder can do that, it's not as big a job as you make it sound - it doesn't even need to have its own separate budget.

that's why i said possibly getting? i'm just listing stuff that could be in the pack, not required to be? and i'm not thinking game pack because people want a farming expansion, and all that could fit in an expansion.
