Slice of Life and It's Illnesses

I recently installed this mod and so far have only removed one file that vexed me. I am enjoying just about everything else about it. Even the illnesses. While I was playing my large household kept becoming ill. My Global Superstar entered the acting career and just about everytime he went down to the movie studios for a shooting gig, most of the Sims there, if not all, were exhibiting symptoms of one manner or another. While my celebrity was being exposed, his next younger brother was also in med school and shortly became an Intern. So, on two fronts, my family was suddenly at risk. Anything from Llama fever to Bloaty Head to Sweaty Shivers and finally to the young married couple, new parents of twins, Triple Threat. Suffice it to say, it was crazy-insane.

I discovered that the Slice of Life mod had been recently upgraded and dutifully removed the old version and installed the new one. The upgrade toned down the rate of illness. This was the update information.

Well, I discovered another mod I wished to experiment with, so I created a brand new game save putting my base family, the Cantrells, into the save. Erik is again working on his music. But, since the eldest four kids in the family are all teens and in high school, I'm worried about Erik's health. This is twice, now, that he's come home with a burning stomach. This could simply be another of the illnesses from the Slice of Life mod, but what it says to me is that Erik has an ulcer. :open_mouth:

I will continue to monitor him to see what becomes of him. I can always use MCCC to remove the buffs, if need be. But, so far, I'm enjoying the Showtime mod I just installed. It's another path to a singing career. Still have Road to Fame installed. The two apparently are compatible. :)

Has anyone else used SOL and come across the burning stomach buff?

Yes, I realized when Erik's mother also was complaining of the same thing that it likely isn't an ulcer. To the best of my knowledge ulcers aren't contagious. I attributed it to SOL simply because that mod is new in my game. I've had GTW since it was released and never have I seen this illness. But, I'm no longer worried about it. Thanks for responding. :)

I am enjoying SOL also. And the various illnesses definitely add a new layer of realism to the game. As long as my Sims wash their hands often, and get the rest they need, they don't fall ill very much. It's a good lesson given the situation we have going on in Real Life with the COVID 19 virus. But it's nice to have the chance to slow down and use this time to play the game without feeling guilty. :D

Ah, so that's the secret! I have a guilty pleasure of cheating up their needs, but maybe that doesn't count? :open_mouth:

The hand washing seems to have the most impact on their wellness. I cheat needs, too, but we can't cheat the hand washing. That one is pretty important. I have made it a habit to have my Sims drink a glass of orange juice with their breakfast also. And. so far, those two things have been keeping my Sims healthier in that they don't become ill very often.

Kinda reflects the sign of our Times, does it not?

It's also possible that they were dehydrated as well. That was what annoyed me the most about SoL, and I eventually removed the sickness package all together.

In my brand new game save, Erik, who is on the lean side, also is subject to low blood-pressure (Private Practice mod). So, sometimes he has bouts of dizziness from an unknown source. ;) Low blood-pressure can and does cause slight dizziness from time to time. But, I have made it a point to send him to drink water especially now that the hot days of summer has hit my game. This after a very cold spring. I thought there were four seasons, not two. :open_mouth: To your point, I may remove the sickness package if it gets too crazy. I just got the updated version that was supposed to have toned down the frequency of the illness. We'll see how that goes.

Hi @GalacticGal, do you know if Slice of Life and Simrealist's Private Practice mod conflict at all? I have SoL, and would like to add in Private Practice.

I'm not aware of any conflicts. My Sim was able to get into 'Med School' out of uni and made his way to Chief Intern.
