Apartments and terraced housing is needed in The Sims

Detached houses are nice and we have always had them in The Sims but not everyone lives in them. A lot of people live in either apartments, semis or terraces.

In The Sims 3 you can build terraced housing using the 'inadvisable room markers' and here I would build a row of six houses but hide all the rooms in all but one. The house you buy is really all of the rooms that have not been hidden. It is more realistic and it works:

While you can do this in TS3 you cannot do it in TS4 and we need to go back to that for TS5.

Take apartments. We have had them since TS2 but I want to see something more daring. I want total high rise buildings which means that every single floor can be occupied by Sims without any performance issues. Imagine how cool it would be to build a 100 floor or even higher building?

In theory apartments and terraced houses are the same as they are multi builds to be divided up. I want to see a Sims game that can handle more population density. Players should have the option to build in such a way.

Imagine how cool it would be to see Sims leave the house at the same time in the morning and see a rush hour as they go to work?

Now that would be awesome!

Agreed, though would like rents to be more realistic. One of the TS2 premades was at the top of the busines career, lived in an apartment, and the rent ate up about 2/3 of his substantial paycheck. Got him out of there very quickly into a house of equivalent space and saved a lot of $.

I agree with both of you.

(your terraced houses look very UK and awesome, King!)

I really like the idea of apartments and terraced houses. I would like to recreate the Hey Arnold apartment block. I think something more sophisticated would be interesting. I think ideally it would be good to control everyone in the block. I like the idea of terraced houses. I like more compact spaces and they often look really pretty too.

I wouldn't mind a row of terraced houses.

I've not travelled much of America at all, but The Sims homes look and feel mostly based on there - condos, small wooden homes, larger mansions and apartment buildings.

TV shows and movies give me the impression that Americans don't have attached houses?

@king_of_simcity7 - I'm afraid that your 100 storey apartment building isn't feasible. If you wanted each floor available and only one Sim lived in each, that would be 99 Sims (Foyer on the ground floor) in one building alone. Now, one 100 floor building would look strange standing amongst 2-5 storey homes so you'd need a few, now you're looking at 200-500 Sims in a few buildings! If your Lot was one apartment, but you wanted to experience apartment life with hustle and noise and rush hour...well, I don't think there's a PC powerful enough owned by a single person!

    Have you tried SimCity?
