Legacy trouble.

I have tried and tried and tried to make at least a 5-gen legacy, but I get bored so quickly. Romance is flat, children and toddlers can't do much, I don't have many packs so it's just a bit flat. Any mods or tips to make legacy playing more fun?

-List of packs I own-

Cats & Dogs
Island Living
Discover University
Vintage Glamour
Parenthood
Bowling Night Stuff

Thanks in advance! xx

TS4 is definitely the pack where I had to have an idea going into each generation (hence why my one stab at a multi-generational challenge ended as soon as I forgot what I wanted to do with Gen 3 lol) A lot of what makes my sims special exists in my head. My favorite one was my comedian, who I eventually thought of as extremely self-deprecating as a part of her brand even if it's not really something you can fully have in The Sims. She also had a love life that never really went anywhere thanks to a lack of good whims and had one child only out of necessity. It was an interesting playthrough I guess!

Are you doing a challenge or just a legacy?

@CaptainElsa Just a plain old legacy.

You should try some challenges! You don't have to deep-dive into an intense challenge, either. If you like your current legacy you can try parts of a greater challenge (like a generation from the https://lilsimsie.tumblr.com/post/157671494755/not-so-berry-legacy-challenge as an example) or a mini-challenge to make things interesting. Here's another mini-challenge list HERE.

I really like doing challenges to push me into completing legacies. Cause I love the payout of a robust family tree. But getting there can be sooo boring. After so many generations it's the same-old same old. Challenges lead to new discoveries of where sims can go.

@capturethemagic it sounds like my story with sims 4 :disappointed: i don't have an advice to help you with boredom but i will let you know that at some point i thought that buying more content would help with it, but it didn't.
The only thing i can tell you is to try mods. They won't help with the the tame personalities but they can make the game a bit better.

Nice idea! Any mods in particular are good for better gameplay?

I try to do challenges. They make the game more fun for me and I have a goal set in mind for myself so I do my best to complete it. It makes it more enjoyable for me. If you don't have any mods just check some out. I use the 'more personailty please' mod it definetly makes them act more like their traits and such. There's some more I use but not all the time due to updates and I tend to take long breaks from playing. :)

@capturethemagic The mod i remember now that i find essential is meaningfull stories. It works the moodlets so that they make for more real emotions. I do use more mods but i can't remember which (im playing sims 3 nowadays). I haven't found any mod that solved it for me though.

I have the same problem. I can rarely get past gen 2 before starting a new game.

Thanks so much for your tips guys!

I have successfully entered Gen 3 of my legacy, with thoughts on what to do on each generation.

    Again, thanks a lot! :)

You could do a royal family. Using the Royalty mod. It allows the Monarch to raise taxes, give titles, make people royal or disown them its help me make it to six generations. If your monarch has bad celebrity rep they are labeled a tyrant...it's been interesting...here's the link https://llazyneiph.tumblr.com/royalty-mod

Regarding mods to enhance your gameplay, Kawaii Stacie has some great mods.

    https://www.kawaiistaciemods.com.

    1. Slice of life
"This mod focuses on adding more realism to the game! This mod adds physical changes to sims based on mood, new buffs, and a cellphone menu which is very similar to the social media mod! This mod applies to every sim even the NPC sims."

This description is very short compared to what the mod offers, so I suggest reading the whole mod description.

    https://www.kawaiistaciemods.com/post/slice-of-life-mod.

    2. Education system bundle
"This mod adds preschool for toddlers it also allows teens and children to build skills while at school and while doing their homework. They will also have more interactions while they are away."

    https://www.kawaiistaciemods.com/post/better-schools-mod.

    3. The Life Decider
Gives sims random skills, jobs and an extra trait among others, can be used con sims you are playing or on NPC so that they feel more complete.

    https://www.kawaiistaciemods.com/post/the-life-decider.

And also, a great mod that is really useful for tons of things, and will get NPCs to get married/divorced/have children is MCC. But this one requires a bit more time to adapt, is more like a quick cheat for customization.

    https://deaderpoolmc.tumblr.com/post/*.

Also, random events roulette has helped me with continuing legacies when I was bored; the options can be whatever you like and even some people have already created some.

A quick example can be like:
-oh, tragedy, sudden death has stricken your family!
-you are feeling a bit down, go to the gym with a friend and get energized,
-go on vacation with your bae, you have earned some time for yourselves,
-add a new sim to the family,
-a family argument! now someone in your family must have a negative relationship with another one
    ...

    Hope this helps :)

Yeah, I watched lilsimsie do her wheel spin decides my sims life kind of thing. If you scaled it down, it could be good for legacies.

I also begin to feel bored. For my own Sims, I have 6 different households from the same founder. I play rotationally. It feels so repetitive at some point, but I do have a very interesting mix of Sims (because I randomise everything about them - traits, careers, aspirations, etc). As of now, I began to play with the pre-made Sims alternately with my own Sims. So far, I'm kinda enjoying it. The Pancakes have a daughter & perhaps few more? Feng family adopted a son & they have their own daughter. Zest found the love with his life with Sierra (the detective from GTW), Landgraab is being their usual & Malcolm might be following his mother footstep (I'm planning to get Malcom to get married to Cassandra Goth :D ). Mortimer & Bella are planning to have another baby. And for the future, I'm planning to get Bella to be a vampire, then let Mortimer die due to the old age. And Bella is going to resurrect him then turn him to a vampire too, so, they can be together, forever. And Alex, I'm planning to get him to marry Dina Caliente. ;)

Hence, apart from doing mini challenges, perhaps, you might want to play with the pre-mades too? It's kinda fun "messing" with their life.

Premades can be so fun! Thanks a lot, and that profile picture is such a mood. :)
