Question about tiny living: diagonal walls and tile count .

I don't have the Tiny living pack just yet but want I want to give it a try. In preparation until I get the pack, I would like to build a tiny house with the packs I have so far.
I wonder what does the game do with diagonal walls. For example You can basically create a room that is 5.5 tiles instead of six by cutting off one corner with a diagonal wall. Does the game count them correctly and display the size as something.5?
