I was reading job openings at EA's website and saw this on one of the descriptions "The Sims 4 has an extremely unique player base attracting a large young female-skewing audience." It got me thinking about how many of us don't fit into their intended target audience. I'm 30 (been playing the sims since I was 12) and a lot of my friends still play the sims too.
Anything between 10-45 can be considered young, if you word play a bit? Even 60+ in age can be considered 60+ years young. So that particular bit of wording around "a large young female-skewing audience" is age and gender-skewing by itself.
To some people age is just a number, and to me i don't consider it relevant what category is used to define a set of consumers. I also don't see why it is relevant to post my age either with that stated.
I'm a 24 year old guy... and I've been playing The Sims for over 14 years! I was a few years late, but I still started with the very first game! I got 'The Sims Deluxe Edition' as an early Christmas present in 5th grade! And that was the beginning of a LONG obsession that still goes on today! lol
I just turned 50 this past November. I have been playing since the first Sims and enjoyed seeing the game evolve since then.
Playtesting - not just tabletop games and card games any more. Really that should have been playtested in Beta and not
I agree with those who say the younger players aren't on the forums. I will be 53 soon. My 25 year old kid isn't even registered here. Its all Reddit and Twitter for her.I have been playing since the tail end of 1. So has she because I let her.
@Colton147147 I think I may have you beat by a number of decades, there. I will be offically becoming a Seasoned Citizen in just a few weeks. Yeah, the BIG 65.
I think the game is for people who are young at heart and some of us never quite grew up, but that is ok I dont' care I just don't tell anyone that I play Sims only my family.
The thing about the sims is a LOT of players began playing when the first game was released in 2000. I myself was only 8 but I've known many who were adults when they picked it up. I'm 27, going on 28 this year and still playing. I'm also not a girl lol.
The dev team is honestly marketing to the wrong people imo. Teenage girls don't have the funds to keep buying all these packs. It's the adults with a bit of disposable income who have nostalgia for the game who are willing to spend the big bucks.
