My Guess this year will be:
    1. Farming with Horses
    2. Castaway with Genies in a bottle
    3. Granny Stuff
    4. Werewolves
    5. Generations

What I Really want this year is:
    1. Medieval into the past
    2. Pixie Fairy Sims
    3. Genies like in "I Dream of Jeannie"
    4. Mythology Creatures
    5. Frankenstein, The Mummy & Werewolf
    6. Superheroes & Supervillains
    7. Another Alien Planet that's larger with many different type of Aliens
    8. Time Machines like the Delorean & Tardis

It's definitely not going to be open worlds or a color wheel. Especially open worlds. They have said multiple times that it's not possible. The game would have to be built for it at the base. The engine is not designed for open world. The closest we will ever get are larger neighborhood areas.

As for a color wheel, cats and dogs was specifically built with it from conception and it only affects pet coats. The base game was not made for it and it can't be put in at this point.

I do, however, think there's still hope for some kind of personality system, even if it overlays the current one. They could feasibly do a trait tree like Vampires have, but for "normal" traits, like preferences. I'm hoping we get something akin to that because we definitely need some kind of personality and behavioral mechanics to make Sims unique.

The trait tree is an idea. One of the issues with a real personality overhaul is that with all the packs now in existence, it would be an enormous undertaking. The moodlets are the biggest issue, I think - even where Sims do have logical personality features (such as loner Sims getting 'tense' in crowds or when forced to interact with stangers), the moodlets kill the mood (so to speak).
I just want things to match. :'(

I'd LOVE a Superheroes pack! I'm a huge fan of the X-men and I love the mutant power concept, how it manifests around puberty and needs to learn to be controlled. It would be awesome to select the power for each Sim at a young age. I think Heroes/Villains could bring back crime in the game and stir things up a bit. I'd love to see purse snatchers, the return of the burglar, pickpockets, bullying thugs...and be able to thwart them...or turn them into minions if you chose to be a Villain. I mean, we have a Villainy major in University, what else would it be for? Lol. But I'd have a blast sending my minions off to do crime and then having to fight a Hero and having a Nemesis and all that. It could even bring back police and firemen who can call on your Hero Sim for help. Maybe they could shine a light into the sky that is your chosen Hero symbol. And a new world could be a metropolis but with some broken parts of the city where the Heroes and Villains fight.

Sims 2 touched lightly on Superheroes at the top of the police and criminal careers. Your Sim would change into their Super costume and fly into the sky to go to work, lol. I loved it. I had a married couple where the wife was a Hero and the husband was a Villain. They had a great marriage. :D

I want super heroes as well
more for sim kids and more drama please

I completely agree with you. The emotion system itself kind of mucks everything up, which is why we need a system that somehow overrides those behaviors to direct actions and reactions and at least have the appearance (maybe some new animations?) of individuality. But not having even a complete emotional spectrum (Fear, Anxiety, Dread, Worry) just creates barriers to believability. Nor a default neutral state as well.

Well what I'm personally hoping for is:

    -Lifestyle of the wealthy expansion.
I want to see all kinds of wealthy extravagance, give my sims plenty of crazy expensive stuff to spend their millions of money on. Classical furniture and paintings, a new fencing skill with rapiers, a tennis court, more pool items, a helicopter pad, cars, etc.
As for new gameplay, it could add new wealth mechanics such as a millionaire club and can also allow sims to start dirt poor as hobo's without cellphones or anything and work their way up, so also providing new cheap items for that lifestyle.
A new life state could also be added: Genie. A genie would tie in well with these wealth mechanics, like allowing a poor sim to change places with a rich sim or anyone of their choice, wishing for great wealth, etc.

There are several lamps however, and several genies. You can ask all of them the exact same wishes, but it can turn out differently for each of them.

There's a powerful genie who gives greater rewards and greater risks. Wishing for riches might give you millions, but could also flood your sim with enough bills to lose all their money and have most of their stuff taken away to pay for it.
Death is also possible with many negative outcomes with him, as well as growing old, getting sick a long time and other more extreme effects that ruin a sim's life.

Also a crazy genie which gives crazy effects, when wishes succeed it won't be quite what you asked for but his personal interpretation of it and fails can be crazy too. Like you wish for another sim to love your sim, and now that other sim does not just love your sim but is obsessed with them, never leaving them alone. Wish to be rich and he might scramble your traits, claiming to have given you a rich personality.

Another genie could be like this strict old woman who is very judgemental about anything frivolous. Ask for money and you get a piggy bank to save money, or she takes your money claiming you should learn to value it more. The fails of her spells could be less harsh though, more like life lessons or such but won't cause death. One result could however be your sim being made a baby again to redo their life to see if they'll do it better this time.

Could also be a regular genie.

A freed genie or character creation made genie could be of any of these types, they don't grant wishes but all share some powers and each has some unique powers too.

I love the wealthy expansion idea @rhalius! One thing I always struggle with is how to unload major coin. Sims can get super rich in about a minute and I can never figure out what to do with it all. My IRL dream, but not so fun for gameplay 🤣

I wouldn't be surprised if we got a Big Brother Tv Show Gamepack. They've had this listed in surveys before so it wouldn't surprise me.

Unlikely, the times of Big Brother are over and the TV studio theme is fleshed out in Get Famous.

I'd like a rollercoaster GP like in Roaring Heights, only better.

Often-requested would be cars, farming, werewolves, #freethebabies, attraction system, private schools, theme parks, hobbies, more supernatural type careers (ghost hunter, psychic), hotels/improved vacation system/more vacation worlds, and more content for non-YA sims. Hopefully we’ll get some of that in the upcoming year. I’m guessing we’ll eventually see another storytelling pack. That might be a good place to put some supernatural type stuff like the grim reaper career.

That gives me hope a Royal pack might be coming.

I hope so!!! OMG I have wanted Royal families in the sims since forever. Imagine if we can choose a King/Queen, inheritance, royal announcements, etc royal families are needed as there were some in the history of the game.

If we can get Farming, Amusement Parks, Werewolves and something with hotel systems I will be extremely happy.

A cruise ship, something with casinos, a wintery vacation world and a medieval world would also be great.
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.

I would definitely use this. It would work well for a stuff pack or game pack.

What I would want personally would be a generations type pack, a hobbies pack, teen stuff pack, romantic pack, baby update (patch), and something new like we had with Strangerville but without the story just something different.

I'd like to see a few packs based on vacation destinations. After Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure I'm hoping we see more destination packs to take our Sims out of their regular daily routine. Maybe an "always winter" destination with skiing lessons and snow boarding etc, renting grand chalets or more simple cabins with a central lodge where Sims can mingle. Or a cruise ship (entertainment shows, a big pool, kids activities, etc) with optional off-shore adventures / misadventures. I also miss the vacation home option from Sims2.

I'd take a royalty pack. I have royals and aristocrats already in my game but I lightly play with them. This would go well with that Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous idea. I'd be interested in that. It seems like a great way to dispose of inheritances. This could also include new forms of investment in which you could make or lose money unpredictably.

I play sims in all different socioeconomic brackets but I could see differentiating different households further. I'd probably be interested in this CAS/BB.

I'm low key fine with anything! I don't really care for farming or medieval themes but they always surprise me haha I could end up liking those themes.
  • FKM100FKM100 Posts: 886 Member
I think I would enjoy seeing something entirely new and different, although I don't agree that all the major past themes have now been done. Horses are still a glaring omission, although I am not hankering for them myself since my experience with them in Sims 3 turned out to be rather disappointing. Still, a lot of players have been asking for them, along with a farming pack. Resorts/hotels are another glaring omission. And don't forget the firefighter and ghostbuster playable careers from Sims 3. Are those never coming back again?

In my opinion they ran out of ideas within the first week or so of TS4 release. We are now into the fourth month of the sixth year. If the expected content has all been done, then I would like to ask where are automobiles? Where are the zillion new aspirations and traits compared to the ones in TS3 by this time? Where is the chemistry system? The slow dancing, let alone the facing each other and tuning out the crowd? The werewolves and other lifestates? Actual apartment, duplex, condo, tenements building tools for players? The ability to build our own custom worlds or at least edit all of Maxis worlds? change the backdrops, the sky, the terrain? Move a tree...
Where's the graveyard? Where's the bus stop, the taxi, the Uber drivers? I could go on. The fourth month of the sixth year and we are still asking, while we get those so called surprises, like My First Pet Stuff, Island Living, Strangerville, and that horrid clothes pack, (right up there with KP Sweet Stuff), sorry, no, they have not gotten the major requests out of the way, if they had any of their EPs or GPs would have included the things I mentioned, and there is still a bucket load of things not in TS4 people would expect in a life simulator in it's fourth month in it's sixth year.

ETA: Had to correct everything getting bolded. But maybe I missed something. Can Sims sit on a beach and watch the ocean in IL? Or cuddle on beach and watch waves together (TS2) in IL? Can singers, comedians or others (TS1& TS3) go to studio and work like the actor in TS4's GF ? Or even bands? like in TS3? Is there a prom or graduation for teens in TS4 like in TS3's Generation pack? Any babysitting/ running daycare like in TS3? in Parenthood? Any hotels and or running hotels like in 1,2,3? Any tractors and farming equipment like in TS3? The point I'm making is they say they got the big packs out of the way, ok, but less for more doesn't mean they actually fullfilled those requests in those (expected) packs. It's almost to the point by this time line, we have to ask what have you been doing?

Sorry, no, I expect their new twists and turns will be the same old song and dance. Use the Sim pc, or jog or paint and slap a new name on it as a new career or hobby.

I have to agree... It so sad we don't all of the above yet.😞
I understand that it takes time, but still...

And I really want them to try new things, but please don't forget we really miss some of the things we had in the past!

Just give me a free update with actual stories back. A clean pop bubble that tells you the sims life the family they came from the one time they burnt grandmas house down. That simple thing would add so much more personality. All we get now is here’s the Goths you remember their story right... oh your new, well it’s a family that has kids and likes red and off black.

    Murphy Bed Stuff was unexpected.

Now I begin to dream about Bunk Bed Stuff...

No need to dream about that, as SimGuruGraham already told us that they are impossible in a stuff pack ;)

Before they crank out ANYTHING "new and original" GP-wise, they'd better get werewolves out!! I swear to GOD, if they put out a GP with those overrated, filthy, disease-ridden hunks of rotten meat called zombies, before I finally get werewolves after waiting for half a freaking decade...I will scream...
