Another chapter to read, yay!
Of course I enjoyed it!! Thinking I need to start making tea so I can enjoy a cup with each chapter of my "book".
Am glad to see things are starting to turn around for them. I can relax a bit knowing that Tad is making the effort to not yell first, discuss later. It was also neat to see another gift (MamaD's park) being used.
I got a few more pics and notes of the renovation run in 4 up. And after much hunting have learned that donations to charity in 4 are tied to the charisma skill. Sims can't donate until they are level 3 or higher for charisma and only through the computer. I have a few of the other 4 minor adjustments covered as well.
After the first few day's it really does run fairly much the same either game for the rules. It might need a few additional rules regarding lot traits use to avoid an unfair early advantage for a sim with no skills or money.
@Mmdrgntobldrgn Sounds like you're doing a brilliant job of working out how to transfer the challenge across two quite different-sounding games. And you've played it on 3, so you'll be bale to feel when the challenges seem to match for difficulty/ease. Thanks for posting that: it was really interesting
That was fun to read @Mmdrgntobldrgn
I enjoyed seeing how you worked out rule adjustments between Sims 3 and Sims 4 ... partly because I enjoy reading renovacies and partly because I've been wanting to give one a try in sims 4 but hadn't figured out how to go about it. Maybe I will borrow a few of your suggestions & give them a try.
The Potato House https://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=9352888
A tall narrow outbuilding, once used to store sweet potatoes in the winter. It's seen some wear over the years. Somewhere along the way a farmer attached a simple washroom to the rear. It doesn't boast any modern conveniences, there's an old fridge gathering dust in the loft, it might still be in working order. It comes with a nice parcel of land, but fusarium dry rot has spread to most of the crop that was last planted there. It could make a simple home one day, but for now it's a warm dry place for someone who is down on their luck.
It isn't much, but it's a start.
Frost got to the plants that dry rot didn't reach.
Traits: Family Oriented, Handy, Loser, Good, Green Thumb Skills: 4 Gardening, 4 Handiness
The second son, a spare. Blake spent his life in his brother's shadow. Being groomed to take his place if he should fall, but always been told he was less than, a contingency. He watched things come easily to his brother, extra time with his father, schmoozing friends, the girl next door. Blake knew with no dowry to offer he wasn't a good prospect for the pretty girl at the cannery that he had his eye on. On his 18th birthday he decided to strike out on his own. He took his family's stipend, the last thing he would accept from them and purchased the old potato house and it's allotment from a neighboring farm. He's learned a thing or two about gardening growing up helping around the family farm, and he was always handy and tinkering with things. He would earn his place in the world, and maybe the heart of a girl. He'd love to start a family of his own someday.
Oh I understand. There are so many I'd like to play first too, I still have some from last spring I'd like to do before I even touch the ones from this winter. It's here for later. I was building a farming area and it seemed like a good renovation project.
I've got enough for one more post worth of notes and pictures, and then I'll try to do a point for point summary of how the differences impact the rules.
Woot! You KNOW I had to play with the potato house @Jessabeans!
I finished Hidehi's story of home tin home and the Poles renovation that I had started here: https://cianesims.home.blog/story/home-tin-home/
(Just follow the links at the bottom of the page to go to the next chapter.)
Part 4 with summary of the renovacy rules dry run is finished and posted. Links to helpful guides peppered throughout the notes, in addition to back to this thread.

Your Sims 4 version went pretty well, it was interesting seeing the gameplay differences when you were comparing how the rules would work in 4. A lot has changed since I last loaded up 4, I still feel like it's not for me. That said, I'm happy to open the door for more Sim players to try it out, regardless of the version they play. Thanks for testing it.
