Slow loading...

I finally reached the time every new simmer dreads so deeply... when NONE of your saves will load. I didn't try a new save yet to see if it's just the old ones yet, but anyway, I uninstalled the most recent downloaded CC from the launcher and it didn't help. I'd uninstall all of it if I have to, but I don't want to lose my saves!

I'll be having to switch computers next month sometime though so if reinstalling seems to be the answer I'll just wait and start from scratch. I've tried other stuff people said on forums about creating a new folder, etc, but the steps aren't in depth enough to for me to know what I'm supposed to do. If anyone can help I'd be truely grateful.

Tagging @igazor since I know he knows a lot... but anyone else who can help feel free to add your suggestions.

Also - Can someone send me the link to Custard and Dashboard or whatever their called so I can use them when I reinstall CC on new computer? Thanks!

The first step (after taking a deep breath) is to clear (delete) the five cache files on the top level of your TS3 user game folder in Documents if you aren't already routinely doing this. And if on Patch 1.69/Origin, make sure that all of the EPs these ongoing games need to have in play are actually loading -- listed and checked off on the Launcher. Then yes, try to start a new game and see what happens.

If still no good, then pull out or rename your entire user game folder. The game will spawn a new one with no content on the next startup. Then see if you can get a purely vanilla, no content of any kind added game started on that one. Your store and custom content, installed worlds, saved, sims and games, etc. will all be safe back in the pulled out game folder. If it turns out that it was the game folder itself that was flawed and the new no-content game folder works, then slowly add your content back in, testing along the way, until you have enough of it so that your saved games can be copied over and continued.

Custard and Dashboard are available from MTS, they aren't difficult to find by searching either within the site or using a search engine. But here you go:

@igazor I tried the new sims folder and even as game with no cc store Content etc still is a little slow... might just be cuz it's first time loading it. I'll see how 2nd load with just nraas and store Content works.

@rubyskywalker - Are you going to buy a new computer? If so, make sure it's one that's suitable to play TS3/TS4 on.

If you get pre-purchase advice from the wrong people very sad things can happen, like in this tragic story for example. :disappointed:

I'm not normally a very sentimental or "bleeding heart" kind of person, but this one got stuck in my memory. I really hope she's been able to get a better and more suitable computer since then.

@rubyskywalker - If the computer has the right specs it should work fine to play Sims 3 & 4 on. :)
