Signature character limit issue?

It's been a while since I've posted on the forums, so forgive me if this is a well known issue already. I'm trying to change my signature, and I was keeping it exactly the same as before but changing the image, which is exactly the same size as the previous one. But for some reason it's telling me I'm 143 characters over the limit? I pasted my signature code into word and it's only 155 characters total. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

You see my signature? In it I have a link to my 100 baby challenge. I am trying to change the part which says I am on baby 38/100 to say that I am on baby 40/100. Since my current signature isn’t too long, you would think that making that change would not make my signature suddenly too long. But no! When I try to save it tells me that my signature is 617 characters too long!

So then I use a character counter to see how many characters my signature supposedly is. Apparently my signature is 627 characters long but the forum says it is 617 characters longer than the limit if 300 characters. Hmmm that’s not right.

Also: Ok 627 characters is longer than 300 characters (albeit not 617 characters longer than 300 characters, as the forum seems to think). But a lot of those characters are in formatting and links which are embedded in shorter text (so that the full html isn’t visible in the signature). It used to be that only characters visible in the signature counted. Apparently that isn’t the case any more.

Please fix these issues.

In order to change the number of babies from 38/100 to 42/100 in the link to my 100 baby challenge in my signature I was forced to delete the three other links I had in my signature. Not cool EA, not cool.

Maybe that way it'll get fixed or at the very least acknowledged.

Sounds like a plan! Maybe that way it'll get fixed or at the very least acknowledged.

I hope they'll fix this soon, I can't change my signature at all because apparently I'm 600 characters over and all I did was add a period lmao

Last I knew there was a reduction in the size of the signature could not exceed 3 lines - I believe they can only be two lines now. That was quite a while ago they did that - so don't know if that is the problem but I recall it being reduced a year or two ago.

@EA_Mai if what @Writin_Reg says is true could you have them change it *back* to what it was before so people can have more then one link in their siggy?

The rules around the length of signatures haven't changed since 2017, if I remember right.

Also using the opportunity to say we haven't forgotten about this issue and it's still something we are trying to fix.

Oh okay - I wasn't sure when, but I did think I saw where the signatures was reduced. Guess that wasn't the case. Sorry for the misinformation.

2020 and the problem remains the same for me, @rosemow I know you sent me this link but I couldn't find the solution in any of the comments. @EA_Mai please help, has this been fixed yet?

I wish I had other news, but we don't have a fix for this issue yet. It's still very much on our minds, I know this is important for you as it's not letting you add as much content as before to your signatures. As soon as I have any news to share, I'll let you know here.

@EA_Mai I was really hoping this issue would be fixed with all the new (much needed) forum changes. Thank you for that, BTW. I have tried shortening my signature and nothing works. It's not a matter of not being able to share as many characters as before, I can't share any! It's just stuck. I get the message 'signature is 148 characters too long'. I counted what I was trying to post. It was only 50 characters.

This should be fixed now and the forums should count the amount of characters in your signature properly - want to give it a try?
