Erik Cantrell and His Family Have Been Uploaded

I am totally in the dark as to just where to make this announcement. I didn't see a Gallery category anywhere. But, please forgive me for posting it here, if this is not even close to where it should be.

I have finally made the decision to share my hapless celebrity Sim, Erik Cantrell. Some of you are quite familiar with his 'checkered life'. I have blogged about him, come here to share the latest mishaps and have restarted him more times than I can recall. Just yesterday things were going great, when the worst of the worst happened. Erik Cantrell was struck down. "He's dead, Jim."

True enough, I am experimenting with a new mod that brings random tragedies to the game. I just didn't expect this at all. LOL Mind you, I'm still enjoying the mod and am not done experimenting with it. There is a way, thankfully, to shut it off per game save. Phew! I may end up with two game saves for Erik. One with the mod on, the other with it set to off.

But, as usual, I digress. For those of you interested in playing this Sim of mine, you can find his whole family in the Gallery under modded. I used MCCC to give them all skills, as it's impossible for me to think that a family with four teens and a child would not have a single skill upon landing into the game! Whether or not you need MCCC in your game to see their skills, I don't know.

If you do choose to download and play them, I would hope if you experience anything odd, such as a possible 'curse' on Erik, you would let me know. Misery loves company, after all, and I hope it's not just me, nor Erik, quite frankly. He's a very likable guy.

I have to ask, what's not to like?

The family is under J. Cantrell SKL

Again, you'll have to set the page for modded to see them.

Thanks and have fun!

@GalacticGal: Did you have as much trouble with Erik in his previous Sims 3 incarnation as you've had in his current (Sims 4) life?

Awesome. Been following Erik's exploits pretty closely. Gonna have to find him a place in my game.

Not the same kind of trouble. Mostly, he had a vexing love-life. For instance, the gal he fell in love with and married gave him a little son right away. He was a 'honeymoon' baby in all sense of the phrase. Torrie, apparently wasn't too happy about motherhood or of Erik's concert schedule. He often stopped at the local bar or lounge after the gig to dance a bit, have a drink or two and in general wind down. Twice, and this was totally autonomous, Torrie set the newborn out on the front lawn of their estate at night — in the rain. The first time she did this I had Erik come right home from his gig to rescue his son. As expected the two had a major row over what she had done. I left it at that. I'm not a fan of divorce either in the game or RL, as most things can be worked out if both partners earnestly try. I set it aside.

Then Torrie did it again. She didn't have the Insane Trait, nor was it a routing issue, and it was , again, completely autonomous. There is no excuse for her abhorrent behavior. The baby cried piteously, too. It was heart-wrenching. Once again, I brought Erik right home from his gig. He quickly rescued his son and then dealt with Torrie. What I didn't realize until after they began to fight, was how badly damaged their relationship was from that first go-around. The 'Break up' interaction was suddenly in his menu. I sat back in my desk chair and pondered it, briefly. It was only a game, but I play my Values even so. I couldn't let her continue to torment or harm that sweet little burrito-wrapped bundle of pixels any further. I clicked on Break Up. Then I immediately went into Edit Town and placed Torrie in an apartment so she wouldn't be able to take the baby with her.

Before all of this, Erik had gotten engaged to another Sim. He invited her over for Gift-Giving Day to meet his family. Well, she apparently was only too happy to 'get to know' Erik's new brother-in-law and openly flirted with him — in front of the entire family. Face/palm. Poor Erik witnessed this and it was like somebody had punched him in the gut. Since I had made this gal in CAS specifically for him, I sent her to the Bin. She's still there, too.

But, no, he only died twice in Sims3. Shortly after I complained about the lack of random deaths. He managed to get electrocuted fixing his spa. Before that, he died from a fire set off by his in-bedroom fireplace. (He lived in an ancient castle.) I now make certain to have a Sim fireguard all fireplaces in any dwelling. My eldest granddaughter was watching and talked me out of restarting the family. Then my game crashed and it was a moot point.

Poor Erik. Maybe he acquired some kind of hidden jinx trait? ☺

Yes, that's what I'm wondering, too. I had really hoped he would have a better time of it in Sims4, that much is certain. I used him as my Founder way back in 2014, made it to all ten generations, too. But, having to play on 'normal' speed made me want to play him again, without the constraint of Pinstar's Legacy Challenge rules. I created the parents and then had the children all born in-game. Once Erik was a Child, I was able to age him up to see if he looked like himself. I can't recall, now, it's been too long. I was simply going to replace him with the older version of him and age him down to Child. This was all before he gained any skill, of course.

Then, I stumbled upon the first Road to Fame mod, and was trying to figure out just how I could have him earn money by singing, once he gained some fame. During that iteration of the mod, there were three choices: Simstagram, modeling and acting, if memory serves. Got word GF was coming out so I uninstalled RTF thinking I no longer needed it. Then another player mentioned in a thread that there was a brand new RTF that allowed for a professional singing career. I was all set, and so was Erik. Then, things went south for my all-time favorite Sim. LOL

I hope you researched postpartum depression afterwards. Poor woman was clearly suffering and needed help. D:

No, but I did find it a bit odd that she kept calling and asking Erik out for a date. :open_mouth: Just so you'll know, he got a Nanny (again a Sim I created in CAS) as a live-in, so he could keep getting a paycheck. They ended up in a very sweet relationship. She treated little Nicholas as if he were her own. She got preggars and the two wed and had four children of their own. When Nicky was ready to age up to child, the new wife invited the child's mother to his birthday party. She didn't bother to show up. Nicky was okay, though. He really didn't remember her. Any one can become a Mother, but it takes a very special person to become a Mommy. ;)

In real life she'd probably be dead from suicide.
Lack of understanding of mental health really bothers me, so I'm going to bow out here. I did DL your Eric though. I'm editing his family and playing things out how I like to think karma would've treated him ;)

Maxis-match? I admit I made him early on after release, but I'm almost certain I fussed with his nose, cheeks, chin and eyes. LOL

Oh, it refers to his hair mostly and overall appearance as well - not any strange custom content ;)

Ah, thank you for that. I don't tend to use cc that much. I do have Khitsule's Pointy Ears for my Vulcan, but I gave up on the 18th century clothing as it wasn't being updated.
