The Sims 3 map + home architecture *real world finds*

«13
This really amazed me and made me glad when i found that this real world location so closely resembled my current lot! I can't even remember which came first !? anyways just thought anyone who had pictures of something they saw in SimNation that closely resembled a real world location had a place to post pictures. Only rule is: both the focus must be on the architecture of the RESIDENTIAL lot aw well as the surrounding landscape such as trees, mountains, and other buildings. The picture MUST include both however, at least to the best of your ability. As i realize that this may be highly subjective, bonus simpoints to all who try :D

House in LA....Love that song!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6dtXL_P2b8
That is AWESOME!...I've never heard that beautiful song until now..I literally just saw the original capture of the area in that one little photograph in my OP. Thanks for sharing the link to the music video it makes the house come alive and gives a better perspective on the surrounding views!

PS* i only had a 20X25 lot to work with in my project so im happy i didn't see the rest of the house before now as it would have been next to impossible to include that into my re-creation :D

I don't have any to share, but just wanted to say your builds are very lovely, I currently have a world you built a long time ago installed into my game!

I think actually building a house in TS3 that exists irl, such as a family home or maybe on found on a house plans site, are so much easier to build.
I'd post pics of my HGTV Dream Hone Build but I'd have to find the place as my sims moved out of it.

Not sure if this counts as I created the lots after seeing the images....but oh well, I wanted to share ; )
Really need to learn how to make those slanted roofs! ; )
Amazing work there! I realized shortly after starting the thread, that the chances of an identical house in an identical setting were slim as i have ever only encountered something close to that in my game once!....regardless great work and thanks for sharing!

With this amazing piece of architectural history, it adds a certain atmosphere that is very rare in most architecture. The setting in this case is pretty much the similar sky, but its still cool to see it in-game. - The Hollyhock House -

I was considering doing this up in Sims 3 when my computer gets fixed. This is Surrey Public Library in Whalley.

I do wish I had a much steadier tripod that my Manfrotto 190XB when I took this shot.

I figure I’ll probably lose what marbles I have left trying to get the curved windows. Can anyone suggest some cc for those type of windows?

Hey there Nikkei_Simmer!, unsteady tripod or not that is a wonderful snapshot of the Library! i've always found that libraries in-game are some of the most unique buildings offered in the Sims 3 so i say go for it!
As for the window CC .... there is so much CC out there sometimes i'll spend hours even days looking for a specific type of door or window sadly there is no one stop shop when it comes to CC in this game haha but good luck and keep us updated!

Also a shout out to everyone who enjoys posting pictures as i know i do especially architectural ones! it's so interesting to see architecture from around the world and how people incorporate it into their game!

Awesome lighthouse!, very close to the real one! there is nothing better than a light house in-game that you build yourself i find the ones that come with the game way too generic 😆 ....who says lighthouses have to be so tall? the one in this photo is only twice the size of the person standing next to it!?

Amazing! I've always been drawn to the character of those brick houses! i'm always happy seeing them in your game as authentic as they are and its nice seeing the interiors so closely built to the original specs too! congratulations =)

Yes, I wanted a lighthouse that my sims could actually live in rather than just a deco object.
One is limited to what the game allows when building. I don't think there is a way to make the lighthouse gradually smaller as you go up. I started out with diagonal walls, which didn't look right so...I thought..well, square will have to do...and it looked much better. I know it should be a bit taller but I had trouble with that also...as I said..we are limited to what we can do.

I found this, which is what I'm going for in the interior - WIP so not sure when I'll get to it ; )

It isn't technically a real world architecture, but my latest WIP is a recreation of a Fairfield Dollhouse. Some of the windows are just stand in's and I'm still playing with the roof, but the dollhouses are so cute!
