Personal Opinions on Seasons

«1
So stead of reading the wiki which is unbiased in general. Tell me what are the good and bad of Seasons (besides death by heatstroke and freezing?)
Occultism in Sims is family-friendly and should not be watered down to cater to realism players

Currently my only/biggest complaint is there is no snow depth. I was really looking forward to that. There are a few minor things I don't like, but overall it's an amazing pack that really adds a lot to gameplay with seasons/weather/calendar.
Oh, I hate that thunderstorms make everyone tense, even pets and toddlers who you can't buy the storm chaser trait which makes them love storms and no longer get tense. Also that trait supposedly makes it more likely to get hit by lightning(which can be cool but) so it's almost lose/lose.
I find getting plants like orchids/dragon fruit/bird of paradise are harder when grafting plants, but I think that more the gardening update than Seasons.

Finding the gardening a lot trickier. My main has a near-perfect complete garden and was raking it in. Installed Seasons and suddenly productivity dropped through the floor, as well as the actual seasonal growth periods making stuff just go dormant. I suppose it is more realistic, but like... that garden includes grow fruit and alien plants, I wasn't going for realism in the first place!

    The Good:
    - the weather: it adds variety to gameplay and makes the worlds more realistic and interesting
    - the calendar: so much easier to keep track of things. the ability to schedule a party (when you plan it through the calendar) for a specific time is so much better than having it start immediately if you do it from the phone
    - the holidays: creating your own, participating in the already set up ones
    - the build/buy: so many fun and pretty things to use in builds
    - the CAS: finally a reason for the hot and cold weather outfits and the weather-specific items are awesome!
    - Patchy: sure, you can hire a gardener without Seasons but the scarecrow is so much more fun :D

    The Bad:
    - gardening gets a bit harder as the harvestables aren't as reliable as without it (without Seasons you get 10 per plant every day, with Seasons the number varies). this isn't immediately bad if you're looking for more challenging play but the change is a big jarring. greenhouses are a must, imo.
    - thunderstorms putting everyone (pets including) into a tense mood
    - the thermostat only having 3 settings (it would be nice to have mild heat and mild cooling as a mid-step
    - random holidays: the one thing that is fun but I also wish we had a way to schedule them ourselves (or could turn them off)
    - umbrellas: they're awesome but also glitchy

    The Ugly:
... yeah no, I got nothing.

One of my favorite packs for sure. I love the way it changes the entire feel of the game. The weather animations are absolutely incredible. I love the gradual changes from each season and it’s even more gradual the longer your seasons are. I love that all the worlds have different weather depending on location. The desert worlds never get much snow or rain and worlds like windenburg become a beautiful winter wonderland.

I love the calendar and don’t think I could live without it. It’s an easy way to keep track of things, make events ahead of time and see the upcoming weather in the world you are in. The holiday system is without a doubt the best we have ever gotten. The ones built in are fun and it’s also enjoyable to create your own holidays for your sims. Winterfest is still one of my favorites to celebrate in game.

Only cons to me are you can sort of customize season length but only in 7, 14, and 28 days. You can’t turn off any season, but there are cheat workarounds I believe if you want to skip or stay in a season. Gardening is harder and pretty much requires a greenhouse for every household with a garden if you want to keep everything growing. But I like the extra challenge with that overall just can at times be frustrating when I forget to move plants before the first day of a new season so they go dormant and have to grow again in the greenhouse.

Overall though seasons is a fantastic pack. It comes with fun new family activities, a great CAS and one of my favorite BB collections we have in game. I highly recommend it.

Seasons is my favourite EP with Get Together. I love seeing the world change and doing the different activities that come with each season. Recently my sims just had their first mud fight. The calendar is pretty neat and I've used it to organize a summer camp for my teens with different goals for each day. It's not a perfect pack though. The surprise holidays, although easy to ignore, can be a little annoying. Also I confess that I have turned off blizzards and thunderstorms. It's unfortunate because I actually like them, but they're way too frequent and also significantly increase the number of rainy days. I want my sims to be able to enjoy nice weather.

Currently, I have each season set to run for two Sim weeks. I'm unhappy because it rains nearly all of the time! I have just decided to start a brand new game save. I may just set each season to four weeks, since three isn't an option, just to see if that ends some of the rain. It's very hard to have a Sim perform in an outdoor stage when it's raining. Never mind tending crops, or living off-the-grid and having the clothes still dripping wet on the clothes line — for days!

Other than that I like having Seasons in my game. It sure beats the heck out of non-stop sunshine. I just wished it behaved more like Seasons from Sims3, where you were kept guessing as to how much snow you might get in the Winter (more like real life).

It's easily the best pack so far. I can't think of too many negatives except that I wish we had more control over the traditions and deciding which sim likes what. Its stupid that toddlers ignore the vast majority of the traditions simply because they are toddlers (which is a stupid idea on its own). We should be able to choose who likes what and not just have it based on traits and age.

    My favorite pack!

I love the weather, the holidays, the gardening updates. Pretty much all of it.

The only thing I’m missing is snow depth. But that’s no biggie.

I love the changing scenery, and the inclusion of cold/hot weather fashion. My grips will be how sims will sometimes wear the hot/cold weather outfits even for indoor parties without changing into party/formal wear, and how my pets can't go potty during thunderstorms/blizzards. The dogs will keep running in and out of the door because they will go out, realized they are scared, and come back in immediately. I solved that by travelling to another town with a different weather, and they will all start pooping immediately once the game loads.

I'm having a good time with it. I was actually happy enough with "constant sunshine" but I also switched over when I got Seasons. Because I rotate, I move between the worlds. I have the seasons set to the max setting of length, so I draw them out and have space between the holidays.

I have honestly not explored the entirety of this pack including how the weather operates in all worlds throughout the year. I do like how each world is very different from the others. It's not one size fits all, though I could do with less "accidental" snow in the deserts, that should really be rare if it isn't someone like a colder desert (yes, I know that those exist).

I think that the seasons add atmosphere and some challenge. Trekking into the jungle now involves dealing with a fair amount of rain. I mean, it is rainforest after all, right?

Having changing seasons added a sense of time when I played StrangerVille. Now, I have "normal" households there.

When it comes to people complaining about the pre-loaded holidays, I don't quite get it because you can delete them and make your own. I'm not wild about the gnomes so I can take them out. They were hilarious and kind of creepy if you are into supernatural stuff.

You will either find it annoying because weather will become a regular factor in your games or you will find it adds to each situation.

I like the CAS/BB a lot, it blends well with that stuff from other packs. I don't mind the extra outfits, though yes, it's weird when they sometimes don't take coats off inside even when the heat is going. Minor point for me.
    Champ and Girlie are dogs.

Goods: You can disable weather entirely if you don't want it (except for cloudy days and windy days, but the former protects vampires from death by sunlight.), when vampires carry an umbrella they are protected from the sun, the CAS is very nice, the BB is very nice, the calendar and holidays is also entirely optional, roller skating is a great group activity.

Bads: No new world, cloudy and windy days are unavoidable.

In short, the Good easily outnumbers the Bad if you ask me.

It's one of my favorite packs, especially if your Sim lives in a world that experiences all four seasons. I like using some of the decor pieces year around like the plants that hang from the wall, or the greeting cards on a table or other surface. The CAS items are nice, too.

But if your Sim lives in Sulani or Oasis Springs, your mileage may vary.

This is one of the packs I've considered uninstalling at times. Toddlers, pets and even all my adult Sims are tense during every incredibly common T-storm and I hate that. I turned off all storms, blizzards and rain (I've never liked rain) but the StrangerVille pack is messing with my solution. Even though my family moved to Willow Creek I'm getting all of them again.
I resurrected the Mother plant and befriended her, and set the weirdness to its lowest level so I can keep getting gifts from her. It's not logical for the weirdness of SV to affect other world's/towns and it's getting annoying.
I love all the BB stuff and seeing snow is nice enough but holy cow the leaves! My Sims will be raking leaves every time I'm not controlling them and it never seems to end. 🤪

I have love and hate relationship with Seasons.

I love gardening on Sims and Seasons ruined grafting. I don't mind seasonal plants, I actually like that feature, but I hate that I can't graft rare plants anymore. They're so rare that my Sim will die of old age before he gets any of them.

Seasons also made my favorite world Brindleton Bay a place where Sims are uncomfortable all the time because there are thunderstorms almost every day. I have to buy everyone "storm chaser" trait if I want to have a pleasant game play and I would rather use those reward points to something else.

What I love about Seasons is the calendar and that we can create our own holidays and plan future events. I love CAS and build & buy items. Also the worlds with proper 4 seasons look very beautiful with autumn leaves and snow.

I wish that I could set a season to 21 days but I love having seasons. However I will let my family move before winter comes back to Brindleton Bay.

It's a great pack overall, but there are a some issues. It interacts really badly with the San Myshuno festivals as rain breaks electronics, also Sims can stand around outside the gym in blizzards or sit on the edge of the pool in snow and freeze to death. I've roofed the public pools and use mods to stop them doing that.

On the other hand the weather is great and the seasonal holidays are pretty good too. It also comes with a lot of really useful CAS and Build/Buy stuff.

honestly overall i would say its one of the better expansion packs. however i do think a few things are missing like snow days but whats interesting is there is a surprising amount of depth in a whole bunch of other things and very interesting customization and even some random events which kind of balance things out to a a degree. its a pack that makes me hopeful for the future in a way.

    The good:
Immersion in general - it's wonderful to see the ice on the windows and be cozy inside with the fireplace going. It's wonderful to see the leaves changing colors and weather having some effect on our sims. This is the great good that keeps it in my game.
Showering in the rain was really one of the only ways to get my off grids clean, it was a fun addition (mostly).
    Swing sets ... finally.
The calendar.. don't always use it or pay attention in every save but I like the preloaded holidays and know with a little effort on my part I can make them over... with less effort I can erase the bulk of them.
    Patchy rules!
Love the more traditional holidays with Father Winter and Flower Bunny especially, and getting the family involved in festivities when I'm playing them.
Opps forgot skating and gift giving.. Gift giving was a want/need of mine for a long time.

    The bad:
Too many cloudy days... it's gotten to me and makes me enjoy some worlds less.
The settings to turn off the weather not always working (but mostly working).... but still too many cloudy days..
The weather station thing is too big and rarely fits in my sims homes ... but can break if out in the weather. Hmm might need to start putting this in a utility closet.. just thought of that... maybe that's my answer.
I've had a hard time adjusting to gardening. The science garden was whacked because of the changes made. I don't like how rare some harvestables are on grafted plants.. the percentage is too low, you shouldn't have to wait a sim lifetime to have it propagate. I can't have a year round outdoor garden unless I splice everything onto sage bushes. I've had to get really creative to have larger gardens.
The tension that comes from storms... I get it but storms are so frequent if you don't have them turned off that it is often too much.
