Probably when I tired of other games that I play to take a break from The Sims 4. Hmm... I haven't played Everybody's Golf in months.

    Simple answer: Bug Fixes

I had stopped playing for a long while until the new stair update. I had been wanting to recreate the home from "Practical Magic" for a really long time now but it just didn't seem to fit till this update. So I got it built and I don't have the ROM pack yet but went ahead and shared it. As far as actually playing I'll play for a little while till I get aggravated with my buggy sims then quit. To get me to play the game for a longer period of time I think it would take getting these bugs fixed for that to happen. I was just glad that despite the column bug in build mode I was able to complete this build.

Probably if I heard there had been a big patch that fixed all the game’s issues.

    Simulation lag fix
Better Q&A to prevent ridiculous bugs in release versions
    Whims system replacement
    Personality redesign
    Interests/memories
    TS2-styled apartments/dorms
    Farming EP

I stopped playing for about 2 years. I check on the forums every now and again. I do like all the updates till now, but its still not better than TS2 imho
The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5

What makes me come back to the Sims after I stop playing? Now, first why did I stop playing? depends on each person and what caused them to stop, boredom?, New job, new baby, new Man, missing or broken computer, whatever.
Mostly if we have to wait a long time between packs, I get upset and stop playing. which is not the case this year. :D

So #1 reason, a New Game Pack. That's only if I come here (forum) or keeping up with Sims News. If I am not keeping up and I think about the Sims game I may check out the Game Changers on YouTube If I watch them for a few days I may go and play my Sims games a little, but if they are showing off a new pack that I like and even show me the build and buy things, That may spark me to buy the Pack, and of course then I am back. #2 Reason is the Game Changers, watching their play by plays, I stop playing for years. Then I saw someone doing a play by play on YouTube I watched him for I think a month, then I decided to go and buy Sims 4. Good thing I looked for my Sims 2 and 3 and found out I already had Sims 4 as well, wow. I did not know that Game Changers was a thing, I just thought wow its so many people on youtube really loving the Sims 4 game. My favorite is Sim Supply James Turner, I can watch him do Rags to Riches forever and not get bored, I am not alone he has over 1.3 M sub... I think boyfriends and husbands watch him just to see why their wife or girlfriend keep watching him, I do not know, but he is addictive, with his Rags to Riches. Also and excellent builder I learn a lot.
we'll give you a full refund. Just make sure you make your request within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase, or within seven days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first.

I was super excited about the the island EP, played 20 minutes, and haven't touched it since. I'm a very goal-oriented player and there was absolutely nothing for me in that pack - no whims and a pathetic aspiration. I haven't bought RoM for the same reason.

So, for me, what would make me come back...

    - new/fixed whims
    - a farm EP
    - more teenager gameplay

    You?

Funny, I'm the same way. I need goals to work towards and complete and I find that difficult to find in TS4.

I haven't quit yet, but I've been strongly thinking about it. The game isn't fun anymore. I've been playing a legacy game trying to find the fun again. I'm on generation 4 and it's lost it's pizazz. Does anybody have any ideas?

I still play the sims 4, and have the original game I started with. I have tried lagacy’s, but they are just not my cup of tea. I loved the sims 2 because there was more interaction. In sims 4, I play rotationally and one day my boss sim, who is mean and evil ( or at least is supposed to be... lol) has an affair with one of the wife’s friends ( the wife has the jealous trait). While she was out picking plants and Cooked some hot dogs in the neighborhood, I invited her friend over and the boss sim and friend had woohoo. After the best friend leaves I have the wife ask him what he thinks of her friend and he tells her...”I’m in love with her”. There is no reaction whatsoever from the wife, and she is a jealous sim. Why even have that question if it is going to cause no reaction?..... it breaks the reality. Toddlers don’t fight, you can’t have sims throwing dirty diapers on the floor and fly’s buzzing around the house. No fire fighters come to the rescue in fires. Police don’t come for a burglary, 8 sims can’t get together and play volleyball, kids can’t play tag or cops and robbers or hide and seek. Couples can’t really dance together, and there is no slow dancing, no shower woohoo, no playing footsie in restaurants, no fur rug interactions, no picnic basket with interactions, no stuff for weddings, no honeymoon, you are not able to have apartments in other worlds, no hotels with check in and special activities to do. Gosh, give me hotels so I can send my sims from other towns to vacation on Sulani, rather than just pretending they are renting a house for a weekend. I want to make casino’s, zoo,s, amusement parks, and malls. We can’t even put food stalls down without having to pay to open them. I want to put them next to a library, in a park, make a food truck ally..... without having to pay to open them, Like the hot dog trucks in sims 1 or 2. There are no likes and dislikes yet, horoscopes, or real memories. No multi tasking lots where you can combine things from different lots. Why can’t we put a cafe on the same lot next to a library? Why can’t children buy from cafe’s? Why can’t we have a color wheel with patterns?. There as so many things I still want from casino’s to hotels, farm animals ( that wander around in a fenced area and you can get milk, eggs, use the animal as food) we need more hobbies, cars, transportation buses) etc., real babies, real grocery and retail stores. I love the multi tasking in sims 4, I just wish they had more actions and reactions. I still play the sims 4, but, not as enthusiastically as I did the sims 2. There is so much they could do to improve it. Interactions, interactions, interactions, and differences among sims.... I enjoyed the sims 4 more when they came out with stuff packs each month they didn’t have GP’s or EP’s, I don’t use custom content or mods so it was always a new influx of hairstyles, clothes and furniture. I’m older and not real computer literate, so I wish the sims could put something in place like MCC command center where the player could change things within the game, not from an outside source. I enjoyed ‘get to work’ enormously for the 3 active career’s in it. I was hoping there would be a lot more as detailed as those 3. I still hold out hope. I would love to see CAST back with the color wheel and patterns where we could semi create our own clothes and furniture again, give us world packs.... that we could designate as vacation worlds or, or residential. or just give us hotels where we could place in any world to go on vacations.

My stupidity. I tend to ignore the fact that every new pack and patch will bring more doom than gameplay.

-Re haul of the emotions/traits system.
-If the new university pack coming out is any good.
-More focus on gameplay/more in depth gameplay.
    -Story progression.
-Better genetics(things like freckles, moles, and unnatural hair colors able to be inherited)
-Whims/wants based on personality rather than the newest pack release.
-Some kind of attraction system based on likes and dislikes.
-More everything for other life stages that aren't YA(clothes, hair, traits, skills, life time wishes, etc.)
    -Timely bug fixes.
-Better attention to detail.(its the little things that matter)

I know its a lot but these are the only things I would come back to this game for. It sorely lacking in all of these categories.
Have a super fantastic awesome splendid amazing day! -TheQxxn

Even though the Sims have become rinse and repeat I'll still play. Granted a new games out and the Sims take a back seat but I never stop.

Realm of Magic has made me come back. I didn't bother with Island Living, StrangerVille or Moschino. I haven't gotten the RoM pack yet, but seeing the new stuff has given me inspiration to play. Any new content is usually good for motivation to play some more. I'll probably get bored again and then come back for University or whatever the next interesting pack is.
I'd like to see more occult/supernatural/sci-fi type things. Futuristic and robots would be nice.
With University and topic of education I'd like to see a pre-school option and private/boarding school options. Parents needing to pay for pre-school/private/boarding would add something interesting I think.

Right now I'm waiting on overhauled babies. I'd also like overhauled personalities as well.

Basically this. I haven't played in quite a few months, haven't even bought the last packs. Island Living is not really my thing (no hotels, no vacations) and the magic pack doesn't interest me one bit.

Toddlers made me come back to the game, so a baby overhaul would too. Better and more distinct personalities, attraction system, etc. would definitely make me excited as well.

University has the potential to bring me back too, depending on what it offers, as well as a farming pack and cars.

Consequences and in depth game play.
Also when they stop treating the game as a safe space and make it a life simulation.
    Never gonna happen

New building features always bring me back, and then of course new packs generally get me playing a lot more. But I'm a married, almost 30 year old with 3 kids, so sometimes it's not the game that keeps me from playing....its just a busy life.

I only come back after a new pack is released.
I usually stop playing a week or two after I have explored a pack.
I am mainly waiting for University, as it is the reason why my sim families are on hold.

I have been pretty much holding back on playing the game to its fullest because I am waiting for University.
If I get bored with the game even when I have university and I am off the chain game play wise, then I will give it a rest and wait until the series is done, buy up the remaining packs, and then mod the plum out of it.

I've held off mods because of how often the game is updated.

Meaningful Traits - not just 2-4 hours of some random moodlet

Likes and Dislikes that affects friendships, relationships etc

Hobbies and Interests so sims don't all act like party crazed young adults

Turn ons/Offs so dating is a complete bore

    More traits and trait slots

Cas relationships like uncle, guardian, fiance, boyfriend etc

Updated Emotions that aren't overridden by cheap furniture moodlets and any other random aura.

Whims that aren't hidden because they are so bad, but ones that are affected by what a sim is currently doing

Memories and consequences - what happens when a sim doesn't repay money they borrowed or cheats on a spouse?

It's been like 3 months since I touched Sims 4, but I booted it up last night for exactly 45 minutes so I could make Brainiac 5 and Superman, I'm hoping this weekend to make as many of my favorite heroes as possible, I probably won't touch much in live mode, just CAS and Build probably, gotta make wayne manner.

But in order for me to come back and actually play the game? I'd like relationship settings to be somewhere between Roomate or Married. Like???? Why are those my only option???? Update emotions so that way a pretty picture of a flower doesn't send my sim into happys-land when Bruce Wayne is supposed to be a gloomy dude. Updated Whims would be really cool. Like I said its been a looooooong time since I played in live mode. So my list is surely longer but this is just some stuff I have off the top of my head.

There are a few packs that I'm eager for, but assuming I was fed up enough to give up on Sims 4, the thing that would bring me back is an overhaul of sim's personalities.
    Incl.
    -One-sided relationships
    -Enemies/ periods of anger
    -Bigger reactions & consequences
    -Attraction system
    -More impactful traits
    -Zodiacs, likes & dislikes
-Moodlets coming secondary to traits & relationships
I find that to be the fundamental problem with Sims 4. If it were fixed, it would improve every pack.

RoM is what got me back. I don't think I will lose interest anytime soon. I'm full of ideas and very happy and inspired with my current family.

But a personality overhaul and bands would surely keep me excited as plum.

for sure it's not going to be a new pack, but an overhaul of sims and their personality ( or lack thereof )
Exactly this as it is the game is just not holding my interest and adding stuff to the game while ignoring the Sims is just not working for me. Packs like Island Living can have all the content explored in less than an hour I need my Sims to be interesting and have personalities to drive stories who truly interact and react with other Sims and the world around them... 5 years later and Sims cant even dance together beyond a set dance routine, its like they decided after base game we let your Sims talk to each other while multitasking the Sims are complete.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"

Not altogether quit 4 yet, but very close. As for the question if I do:

fix the sims to be like those in TS2 (with a few things from 3), which is what all the various requests boil down to
get serious about dealing with the legions of bugs and glitches
deal with the ultra shallow gameplay
make true rotational play possible, right now it isn't, at least not how I understand the concept
    tie screenshots to the households
worlds have more useable lots and less useless backdrop/staging
full set of building & terrain tools, including a proper water tool
enough already on EA dictating how we play a game we shell out our hard-earned cash for, including imposing features and content on everyone even though not everyone wants it - the concept of options
