The new guru and producer responded to a tweet today or yesterday when someone asked him about updating the babies. He asked what they'd like to see improved. It gives me hope that he's actually interested and he'll actually consider updating them at some point. Fingers crossed.

Yes these are great ideas. I really miss being able to bathe babes n he sink, that used to be so cute. I like the rocking chair idea. I also wish parents could hold the baby while doing things, like watching tv, talking on the phone, reading, etc. And yes, more child-baby interactions would be sweet.

I agree with all of this, I want more fleshed out babies too. I think the bassinet thing is stupid and ridiculous. There should at least be real cribs.

What I also really, really, REALLY want is younger toddlers, like in TS3. I don't like how independent they are in TS4. I want cribs back, and I want them to not be able to walk upright right as they age up, but so that you have to teach them.

There are a lot of things that could be improved regarding babies and toddlers.

@horselover1 I was just thinking about this earlier today. I love the toddlers, but I think they're too independent as well. That's one of the reasons why I want a baby overhaul, so we can have a lifestage more dependent on the older life stages.

@horselover1 Reminds me of Freeplay's babies where they're crawling and just hanging on furniture etc

Freeplay's babies are so amazing. Look at all of this.

I'd kill to have this in TS4. :/ If ever the gurus ask again what to do to improve babies, someone should link them this video.

Not only that they also added more for parents to be as well with the pregnancy update like ultrasounds, baby dummies, etc

Freeplay got a lot of family stuff especially for babies, toddlers, and children

I love it! I would also like to see more sibling specific interactions between all ages, like maybe "talk about childhood" or an older sibling could fuss your hair and things like that. Family is completely missing in ts4. I miss the sleepovers and story telling, and all the child specific cool furnitures like sandboxes and bunker beds.
One thing that bothers me above all is that time and effort into learning is completely wasted when the kid grows up. No skill in athletic or dancing even if I've moved to music three hours a day, not even a hidden skill.

I agree.

I would love to see more things for babies too and interactions between siblings
Playtesting - not just tabletop games and card games any more. Really that should have been playtested in Beta and not

This all sounds like a dream, I would LOVE all of it. I also wish they'd make things easier for when you have twins instead of everything having to be one by one.

Oh my god, I've never played the sims freeplay but jesus, this looks amazing! Why oh why can't we have this in The sims 4!? This is everything I want!!! (minus less independent toddlers). It honestly makes me so frustrated that this is what we get in a fricking mobile game yet in the main Sims 4 game we have objects tied to a bassinet. I've never even seen a bassinet in real life. Before Sims 4 I didn't even know they existed.

I feel like a kid looking into a candy shop through a window but I can't have any of it...

Technically, babies are not sims, they are objects. They are an extension of the crib object, tied together and cannot be separated during game play.

However, that being said, I do hope babies will become sims and untethered from cribs. I miss my sim mommies and daddies placing them in the dishwasher or leaving them on the ground outside. Fun times!

They pretty much have everything I want to see in Sims 4 the babies even hold onto the coach to prop themselves up while learning to walk Freeplay team did an amazing realistic job. An update like this would be amazing and would complete the missing gaps of life experiances besides Preteens to fill in the space of playing with toys one day and messing around the next.

• Customizable babies (Create a sim)?
• Babies that can develop a crawling skill
• Multiple skin tone options
• More bassinet designs
• Free them from the cribs

I’m not huge on the babies aspect, but it feels like their missing a huge piece in the whole ‘baby’ aspect of the game.

Some of the pictures' URLs died and I had to make them again. Made a few updates too.

I still want this to happen very much, but I'm starting to lose hope to be honest.. :( I first made this post back in 2016. Still nothing so far...

@bythedreadwolf Since they're finally nearly done with a lot of the things other players have been more vocal about (tropical island, magic, and soon university), I'm hoping we can see improvements to babies early next year. Let's not forget that the new director seemed more open to a request to improve babies. Plus there was that march madness poll they did a while ago where legacies made it to the top 8 I think. I've also been seeing way more game changers talking about wanting better babies lately, so the team very much knows that it is something that a lot of players want. I'm really hoping we can get them in early 2020.

I'm just giving this a boost since after the resent survey maybe we might finally get a baby update. Does anyone have any more info into wether they've said anything about looking into it or not since recently I'm kinda out of date with news.

So sad that this amazing post was created in 2016 and there is still no baby update :( I'd really love to have everything mentioned here.
• ListentoToppDoggListentoToppDogg Posts: 2,103 Member
@Babycakelings I don't think any guru has mentioned anything about a baby overhaul or anything recently. I was actually a bit saddened that the recent survey didn't mention anything about babies, considering they know how much people want them updated.

I do still hope and pray everyday that they're working on improving them.

There was the patch last month that mentioned something about babies not being objects. It could have been a hint that they hear us and are working on them. It would be nice if they were patched in and then maybe a generations pack this year.

Shoot, I just hope TS5 doesn't forget about infants, kids, and teens like TS4 clearly did. If they do it to me again, I'll have to be done with this game altogether.

I think that baby and toddler life stages should be combined. Babies could start out as a baby in a crib, but slowly they would gain skills that allow them to become like how we currently know toddlers to be. The life stage could be 1.5 weeks and could just be called baby. You could edit in CAS throughout the entire life stage. Skills would be able to reach a higher level since there is more time to work on them. Some ideas of interactions you could do with babies to help them gain skills in the very beginning could be:
• Play clapping and singing games with baby (increase imagination or communication skill)
• Give baby tummy time where they can learn to push up from floor, sit, crawl, then eventually walk (increases movement skill)
• Talk to baby (increase communication)
• Take baby out in stroller and then (when they can walk) out for walks/adventures with parent (increase thinking skill because they are watching the world)
• Play with baby and toys on floor (increase thinking, imagination, or communication)
• Nurse baby on couch or chair (doesn't gain skills, but nicer than standing)
• If multiple babies are in one room, even if they can't walk/crawl yet, they could babble at each other and gain a relationship and communication skills.
• Babies could have mobiles above their beds/cribs to play with (could gain imagination, movement or thinking skill)
In the beginning babies would just cry when they need anything, but with a certain level of communication they could ask for specific things such as a bath or food. With movement skill at a certain level they would be able to push up from the floor, then later they would learn to sit, then later they would learn to crawl and escape from crib, and then walk, then run. Toddler beds would work, too, but there could be a higher chance of them staying in bed all night with a crib.

Once a baby reached, say, level four in any skill, they would start behaving like toddlers currently do at level one on any given skill. The skills could go up to level eight or ten. Potty could stick with three or five levels because they cannot start to learn potty until all their other skills are a little higher. There could be funny mishaps that occur if you try to teach potty too early.

Babies could start eating solid foods in a high chair once they reach movement level three or something like that.

There should be many more interactions available between babies and children or other babies. Children could ask to hold the baby (when it is little) with help from their parents. Babies could play with each other without using toys, like just poke each other and giggle and babble and touch each other's toes and things like that (once they can sit only). Children could sing to babies or play with toys with them.

I want to write more about my idea of taking them on walks, too. As babies in strollers, they could just talk to their caregiver who is taking them out, and they could do the "watch" and "what's that?" interactions with people and interesting object outside as they roll along. They would do those autonomously. Once they can walk on their own, they could hold an older sim's hand to go on a walk/adventure and play with things they find along the way. There could be outdoor interactions such as "play in dirt" or "play in grass" that they could perform while on a walk/adventure.

A lot of people say that it is too sad to have babies taken out of the crib because they just get lost, I disagree. Interactions where babies are taken out of the crib before they can crawl/walk on their own could be mandatory for the sims to finish. When a sim is peeing themselves or having an energy failure, they can't just suddenly get up and do something else because they get distracted. These interactions with babies could work a similar way. If you click cancel on something they are currently doing with a baby sim, they would always just pick up the baby and put them back away into the crib before doing anything else.

Those are my thought, hope this inspires some new ideas!
