things i want in this game as a sims 4 player playing the sims 3 for the first time

«1
so i don't have nostalgia goggles on, i've only played the sims 4 and new to the franchise from this iteration only. coming into the sims 3 fresh and there's like a lot of things i want in the sims 4 thats in the sims 3 just off the top of my head from playing:

sims having messy beds and having to make their beds
sims moving around in their sleep, not just one pose animation
romantic selfie kiss
sim looking out of the window
sim tripping on stairs
sims comparing signs and seeing if they're compatible
being able to adjust ages through sliders, like its all customizable instead of having short normal and long. you can make teens like 3 days and adults 150 or whatever
being able to adjust what supernatural creatures spawn in game

its really small stuff but like, its something i've noticed that's just missing from sims 4

any other things you feel is just missing from sims 4? i mean small things, not whole engine issues like open world and color wheels, like stuff that can actually be added into the game without a huge budget to rework you know what i mean?

I do totally miss my Sims couples cuddling/spooning in their sleep.

I totally do NOT miss messy beds. That they make the bed when they get up is actually a huge relief to me for no real reason, but it is.

I am 50/50 on Zodiac signs, because they never did a whole lot with them, and also because Astrology is a deep dive and I asked myself things like "but what is his Moon Sign? What is his Ascendant?" I need like three signs per Sim to even begin to extrapolate a personality from it. :)

I do totally miss favorite color, musical style, and food. I don't know that color actually did anything, but you could improve happiness with other favorites.

I don't miss Create A Style as much as I thought I would, but I do miss it some. I didn't think I could play without it. I can.

All in all, though, I really have adapted fine to TS4 and am enjoying it a great deal. And I say this as someone who had a lot invested in TS3 and stuck with it for years.

haha i think its cause im coming from sims 4 that messy beds would be something i'd LOVE to have cause its just so different. i'd love to have neat sims always make their bed and slob sims to never make their bed would be kinda cool

I also miss messy beds and kids jumping on beds (sims 2). I also like that sims moved in their sleep (something I had forgotten until I played recently).

For me this is actually a big thing, not a small thing! I wouldn't have bought TS3 Supernatural had I not known I would be able to turn each supernatural species off if I wanted to. Fantasy is my favourite genre, but I don't want all my stories to be fantasy.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that one, too. Not being able to manage populations is in fact making me unwilling to buy packs that otherwise interest me. Get to Work? Maybe Get to Work on letting me turn Aliens off if you want me to buy that. ;)

i only meant small in terms of scope in programming compared to open world things. i know a lot of people's first go-tos in comparison threads is immediately goes straight to open world haha.

i totally think that being able to control what spawns in game is something that should be implemented, and could be implemented. especially with that upcoming realm of magic pack i really hope they figure it out by then.

I miss this as well. Not sure if it would be possible to implement this late into the game :\.

    Adjust the length of eyelashes

adjust the make up. Heavy or light

    Having a Graveyard lot type.

A pool Party Event. A Funeral Event. Sleepover Event.

Yeah, there are a lot of things I miss from previous Sims games too and I am hoping will be added and improved on in TS4. I really miss my sim couples cuddling in bed and I hope this will be included with a Romance GP that expands on the romance/wedding system. I also hope personalities will be developed further with likes/dislikes, favourites, memories etc. and traits like neurotic, proper, cultured etc. I miss the messy beds too as this was one of many ways traits felt more distinct and impacted on behaviour, in this case for neat/perfectionist sims. I also really miss werewolves and fairies, NPC burglars, police and firefighters, free babies and prams/buggies, slow dancing, landlines, resort/hotel venues, horses, hobbies like sewing/knitting, and probably a lot more stuff that I'm forgetting. I have quite a long wish list.

the landlines and the newspaper is like one of the few things i could definitely live without in sims 4 since they're rather outdated

but it would be nice to have them back though, and remove cellphones from elders and make them go about things the old-fashioned way, just so i dont have elders constantly on their phones. i know real life elders are on their cell phones but like, in game it would be nice to have more a distinction that they're in a different life state.

I agree with all of this... I love Sims 4 mostly because of the graphics and new stuff but I loved how detailed the Sims 3 was.

Slobs should grumble when you make them do it. :)

Oh yes I can certainly play happily without landlines too, but I still miss them a little. Maybe it's just nostalgia for previous Sims games or my love for period dramas. I guess it is old-fashioned, but most people I know still have landlines. Perhaps it depends where you're from? Anyway, it's only a little thing. I agree elders definitely need more to do and I hope elders, teens and babies all get further development at some point.

Don't give up your landlines! In a game give them up maybe but Maxis is too early to do it.

I have found that they are both useful, One to complain by cable landline to my Mobile company that my mobile isn't working and the mobile to complain to my landline cable company that my landline is down. Otherwise it is out in the street to the nearest telephone box! We can get winds of 50, 75 and even 100 mph in the winter where I live and either goes down on occasion.

-You can hang on for ever on a landline with no extra cost to the free support lines and have the ability to hang on to get your point over with a real person or passed on there and then.

-Internet AI support is horrific and I cannot type 100 wpm when answering some internet support person from a foreign country.

-I always have problems anyway with the mobile screen going dark just before I am asked to put in those odious 1,2,3 options tool

    Just a little rant. o:)<3

yes! normal sims just make their bed no questions ask but you'll get an angry moodlet from a slob sim when they have to make their bed. would LOVE that

nothing more rage inducing than the fitted sheet popping off over and over again. lol

Bonehilda, police actually being on the job actively in the world, night curfew for kids and they were brought home by police if caught, burglars, true vacation places with ability to buy a home there thru working for it, taking babies for stroll with stroller, taking your child everywhere, was kinda nice having rabbit hole dates so would like to have that as extra option for when you just wanna get it done with ( you know movie and dinner were the rabbit holes),

opportunities whether work or skill related, how sims could go to hospital or be treated even if they didn't work there, the whole doctor career was great as things could happen suddenly when out and about, being on call, the parties didn't have goals ( I've tried the unchecking goals and it seemed like it still counted it as a bad party in 4) , having pool parties, I mean why aren't there those yet?,

I loved how if you combined vampires from 3 and 4 they could be the best vamps ever ( I love that they no longer die of thirst and hated the sparkle) but they were more mysterious feeling and stalkerish when you could see them along the road following as you headed to a place you were to meet them at, and they didn't hesitate to bite your SIM if they wanted to, the way they turned you was better, they didn't ask if you wanted it and your SIM didn't know what happened,

I love having the feature to ask to be and if there were humans around they'd say no, trying to be inconspicuous, wish it could be more of a mystery if they were a vamp or not, if you can not know a SIM is a mermaid you should be able to do the same with a vampire, they would truly be secret about it as much as they could

I miss so much from the sims 3!
The interactions with the babies instead of them being just the exact same eachtime and not being able to leave their bed. I miss bathing them, taking them on a stroll in the stroller.
The way the toddlers had cribs. OMG I miss cribs so much, I wish their was a way for the toddlers to age up but still as toddelrs? To promote from a crib to their beds. I miss their imaginary friends doll they had. I wish they would add a toddler swing that you would put at a park?? I also miss them crawling first and learning how to walk.
The way children (and teens) could have the option to control their dreams as they slept. I wish the children could say they had crushes on people and would act funny or awkaward when around them.

I love TS4, but I also played TS3 quite happily for years. There are a few elements and careers I would like to have back in Sims 4.

    Careers:

Firefighters (both as NPCS and as an active career)
    Burglars (See above)
Bands (loved them and all the instruments)
    Private Detective
    Architect
    Acrobat
    Inventor
Sculptor (loved both the skill and active career)

    Food

    Wine and wine-making

    Bouillabaisse
    Falafel
    Shawarma
    Ratatouille
    Cheese plate
    Frogs legs
    Crepes
    Dim sum
    Eggs Machiavellian
    Autumn Salad
    Goopy Carbonara
    Hot and Sour soup
    Firecracker shrimp
    Porcini Risotto
    Potato and Truffle Torte
    Stu surprise
    Try tip steak
    Pumpkin pie (!)
    Key Lime pie
    Baked Angel Food cake

    Useable Objects:
Bake oven and bake table for kids
    Food processor
    Bunk beds and loft beds
Sleeping bag (and fun sleepovers for kids)
    Strollers
    See saws
    Treehouses
    1 tile dollhouse
Small teddy that kids can play with and sleep with, and the cute “teddy time” moodlet
Hopscotch (this time as more than a mat)
    Music boxes
    Drums
    Bass
    Electric guitar
    Pool table
    Soccer
    Ballet barre
    Pizza oven

    Lifestates :
    Fairies, Witches, Werewolves
    Plumbots
    Revamped Plantsims
Revamped Aliens (sims 3 had the best aliens)
    Imaginary Friend

    Animals (Pets)
    Horses
Unicorns (not really a pet but sims can interact with it and ride it)
Playable small animals (birds, lizards, turtles, snakes)

    Wild animals
    Deer
    Raccoons
    Skunks
    Tiger sharks
    Reef sharks

    Harvestables
    Lime
    Lettuce
    Plum
    Pomelo
    Coffee beans
Many varieties of mushroom (used in spells)
    Watermelon
    Ghost Chili
    Ginseng
    Lavender
    Mandrake
    Flame fruit
    Life fruit

Hopefully, we will get a few of these excellent and fun elements back in Sims 4 someday (I am certainly not expecting them all — if I want them all I can play Sims 3), although I like the new things they’ve given us in TS4 too.

If they took all the things that were the best from 3 and the few things from 4 that are the best and intertwined them correctly it could be a fantastic game (if it played right)

Sims 3, as well as Sims 2, just had so many amazing items, interactions, world's. I hardly know where to start.

    Just a handful of memories...

Midnight Hollow and all of the wonderful build items and weird townies it came with.

Building a roller coaster, and then expanding it to a giant amusement park for my Sims.

Helping my Sim become a wealthy superstar flirty playboy and then introducing him to a jealous gold digger. I could watch those two Sims interactions for months and never get bored. Sims actually had individual personalities once upon a time.

Faries, my all time favorite life form, and the magic shop from Supernatural. Miss Faires so much.

Romance and the attraction system from Sims 2. I loved the way Sims who were in love would follow each other around, always wanting to be near their romantic interest.

The way that Sims cheating on each other used to actually matter.

Sims children who actually acted like children.

The fact that expansion packs used to actually expand the game, making it much more exciting to play.

Having my Sim get into his car and drive to a venue, or take a vacation, or head off to University. Actually being able to follow them anywhere in town while watching all the other Sims going about their lives.

The Sims 3 store, for those periods between expansion packs, feeling bored with your game? Try a new world on for size, or how about a new green house to play in, or a casino..

Sadly my Sims 3 game outgrew my computer, otherwise I would still be playing it.

Because....sims in TS4 have great shooting and they don't pee on the toilet seta? :p I don't know lol, but TS4 lack a lot of depth in details like these.

I miss the teens. I liked it when they got acne, having proper mood swings rather than just a mood let or a phase that doesn't really affect the game as positive moodlets outweigh the mood swings, curfews etc. Used to love it when the police brought them back. Teaching your teen how to drive. I find teens a little boring in TS4 and I'd love for a pack to improve them a little.

Oh and I miss sims having a midlife crisis when they aged from young adult to adult.

same! i have yet to play sims 3 teens but even as a sims 4 player i find teens lacking.

i wish they were separated from all the adult life stages cause i hate having to remove the braces and acne skin details i add when they age up. and when i had the height mod to make them shorter and their heads a little bit larger to make them look like they were 14 and not 17 i had to manually edit them when they aged up too. its very annoying. i wish they had a bit more focus
