I completely agree with you here as I commented in my last post it is up to me when I purchase new content or if I wait so why would I begrudge other players some free limited content? In fact I am happy for them in these circumstances lol however maybe we are in the minority?-)
A McDonalds employer comes to you, takes your nuggets and your fries away without even asking, and gives it to someone who hasn't even selected what they want to eat. How would you feel honestly?
That's a false equivalency. A more accurate comparison would be "you buy fries, a big mac, a drink, nuggets. A McDonald's employee gives a single free french fry to another customer." It doesn't mean I have fewer fries and it represents an infinitesimal proportion of my financial investment.
It still ain't nice to take one French fry to give to another customer. XD
Agreed, but in this metaphor that french fry - which is now becoming cold and limp - came from the kitchen, not from my tray.
Yeah we got some new swatches of that stuff through this if we have that stuff already. For a not cc user I'm good with that. Oh Heavens to Murgatroyd, I'm gushing! Forgive me..
I have the base game free and now I have that stuff for free too. But I empathize with the people who feel cheated because they paid for that stuff.
I also don't believe all those people who are fine with this. I don't know any of you so why should I let you influence me against what is obvious? It's just another smoke and mirrors move to get the rest of us to be okay with this.
Wait I'm confused... You think that people who are not okay with this decision, would pretend they are okay with it in order to convince other people to be okay with it? I am puzzled how this would make any sense at all. I mean I don't really care if people agree with me or not, but I certainly am not going to try and convince them to disagree with me.
This is EA's forum so they can make opinion sway their way as they please. If people think about it, no one here really knows anyone else. I often thought polls here were influenced to go the way EA wanted as a way to get others to accept the changes. If you go to other places on the internet where EA has no control, the real opinions come out.
For example, the Laundry theme won here and everyone is gushing over it (supposedly). But out there? A lot of people are going "plum? I chose <insert better theme option> and this won?!??"
So polls here are plum. Opinions that EA can't control elsewhere are more accurate. Doesn't matter anyway, because EAxis will do whatever it wants whether anyone agrees with them or not.
I'd like to know how they control our opinions? Are we getting some sort of reward for voting no? Is so I want my reward.
I'm not blowing a gasket over it. But I am somewhat annoyed over it yes. But not truly because of the items, no, my main reason for that and voting yes is the darn principle of it all. Because if this is fine, then where do we draw the line? When will it be too much? What will stop them from doing more of it later on?
Not only that, but this is such a cheap way to do it. Weren't we going to get new items? A general statistic of the Gaming Community is that it doesn't like cheap recolours of things, no matter what game it's happening in. And if we were going to get recolours then why not recolour a big bunch of base game items? I sure would like some more colours and patterns for the underwear.
I own everything, and it doesn't bother me. I say let the new people coming to TS4 have them. Plus with all the CC out there, it's just the icing on the cake. For me, I buy the expansions not for the clothes, hair, build items, etc but for the new worlds, gameplay features, scenery, etc and of course to support the TS4. However, this is my personal opinion and I can understand why some people would be upset about this.
Hell yes. I'm just as furious as when they did that with Toddler Stuff. I buy packs to get certain content now they're giving it away for freebies. They advertised these things as being special content for specific packs. Now anyone who has the game can just get it for free. That's not fair to those of us who already bought it. And even worse, they're calling them new. NO, that is not okay.
I buy packs - even Stuff Packs, like Perfect Patio (hello, hot tub!) - for the game play they offer, seldom for the clothes or hairstyles. Even so, if a few more options are added to the base game from packs, I don't mind. I think the Dev Team knows that TS4 base-game was thin at lauch, and as time goes on, are using later development to continue to make it more worthwhile on its own.
People who paid for those packs had that content years sooner than anyone else, and still have content only available through that pack, including (as I understand it) design swatches of the released clothing not otherwise available.
I find it ironic that the same people crying "EA are robbing me!" when pointing at DLC as a money grab are also saying "EA are robbing me!" when the content is made free. I guess people like to complain. Me, I like to play The Sims, and am grateful when I receive extended options to my base game.
I clicked the wrong button sorry, I meant to say no, not bothered because I still haven't found anything new in the outfits yet anyway....where is it all????

Are you suggesting there's some sort of shady conspiracy? Because if so I definitely want to be a shill for Big Sim.
@Simpatsyann Call me and I'll get you in but keep it on the down low. Don't want to cause a panic.
"Every child matters. If we fail our children, we are bound to fail our present, our future, faith, cultures, and civilizations as well."
I don't mind at all. I'm just sitting here reading through the comments and wondering why people even care. It is only a few things that got added. I bet most people don't even use the items that got added to the BG anyways... SMH
Here are 4 of the DLC to BG assets for comparison. Top row are the new swatches that got added to BG. Bottom row are the new BG swatches combined with the pack swatches. I took these screenshots before and after disabling all packs.
Nah. Not bothered since it's not the same items that I paid for but extra swatches for them.
It plum that the items are no longer searchable by their packs though, but it would likely be more of a mess if they added the new swatches as a duplicate item. (why they're no longer on the DLC item listings though, I don't know, since they're very much still DLC items)
For comparison: the hoodie/top from Fitness Stuff has 10 (or so) swatches when bought with the pack. In base game, there are 3, which got added to the list, making the total for anyone who owns the Stuff pack 13+. The only loss is that the item is no longer unique to the SP, only the swatches are. To me personally, that's not a big deal.
They aren't. They show up under BG items now.
In the in-game catalog, yes. But imo they shouldn't have taken them off the listing for the packs, since it's not like they just handed out the whole item as it was with all the swatches from the pack to BG. It's also why I said it may have been a better choice to make them a separate item.
I'm so confused about this. So is it just the swatches or all the swatches that have been made free?
i dont really care but i wish if they released some things for free they replace it with another item for those who own the packs so we're not paying for something that eventually gets released for free.
i know its a miniscule amount of money for one or two items but, when expansions are $40 im sure they can update those expansions with some new items once in a while if they wanna give it to base game
@Sigzy05 It varies, but the majority of assets have only had 3 new swatches patched in. Original DLC swatches are combined with them if you have the DLC

Of course I am, I paid for it, knowing that I had to pay to access them but what now? They make it free! How will I know if won't happen with any future pack? It happened once with a toddler hair before too.
No because what difference does it make if they did get it the packs have more then the things they gave free to everyone so they don't have everything from the packs.
Yes because a big factor in whether I buy a pack or not is the CAS. It’s really annoying for them to patch in something people have paid for. Like how hard is it to create new items instead of recycling old ones?! Literally every “new” item added was recycled besides that one hair. I don’t understand the point in adding paid content to the BG. If they wanted to give people who only own the BG more content, they could have made a few new items. I’m starting to wonder if all the money they claim to make from the Sims even goes into the game’s budget.
Revenue goes to the general operating account to be parceled out according to the pre-determined budget allocations. Only study of the financial statements and budget would tell us if we get back what we put in. In view of what we're getting for game quality, I doubt it.
Doesn't bother Me at all, in fact I am happy that those that didn't have these things can now have something extra. Kind of shocking to see the responses to this poll..wow

They didn’t explain that very well, then.

Apparently one pair of pants and the DO hair have been moved completely to base game. One hair is new. The rest are treated as above.
