help just got windows 10

in The Sims 2
my daughter just built me a nice new gaming computer and we put windows 10 home on it. I have still been with windows 7 on my old computer. So I download Origin on new computer and download my Sims 2 ult. just fine, but when I go hit play it instead of running it turns my desktop icons large and freezes up the whole computer. I tried looking on search for the answer but was not finding one. Moist was saying runs great on 10, so I don't know what to do. Might there be something yells I need to download on my new computer to run it besides Origin? Or do I need to try re-install again? I pray this is an easy fix. Thanks everyone ahead of time for just looking at this and even more for any help.
