The question of how players got started was posed on the FB page and after reading many of the comments, I was just curious what the numbers would look like in a poll. How many newer players are there, like my younger kids who've only played 3&4? My oldest son, who started with 2? How many like me who are practically dinosaurs and started before there was a Sims as we know it?
Edit: I'm sorry, I missed some titles when I was making the poll. So I guess you'll just have to comment if you started with any of those. I also just noticed the Sims 2 option should be 2004.
SimEarth, SimAnt, SimLife, SimFarm, SimRefinery, etc. 1990-2009
Streets of SimCity, 1997
Sims Medieval, 2011
We had a PC in the house, but my mom bought SimCity for her Mac. No one really got into it, maybe because the Mac version was in black and white? Then she bought SimCity 2000 in 1993 and I loved it.
I saw Sims 1 at my sisters house much later, and was completely hooked after that. We bought the console Sims 1 for ourselves (I was a year into my marriage).
Actually, SimTown, before several other Sim titles (including SimCity but I don't remember which one) then Sims 1.
SimTown was 1995. I thought about including those as a choice when I was looking at Sim titles, (SimTown, SimEarth, SimFarm etc.) but then forgot when I actually started making the poll. It would be nice if you could edit them.
I started with the console version of TS1 back in I think it was 2003. Not long after, I got the PC version and loved it. Then Sims 2 came out and I've been addicted ever since!
i played sims 3 in middle school. specifically, i remember playing it on a garbage little laptop while on a family vacation. then one day my saves just got wiped and i was really confused, stopped playing after that... still don't know what happened.
I took turns playing the Sims 1 one time as a child round a friend's house, but I first started properly on the Sims 2. I think there'd been a recent expansion release or something? So I skipped Sims 1 for the newer version and have played each release since then.
It was back in 2007 or something and the middle school me first played the Sims 2 at my friends house. After that I was so hooked I had to get my hands on the game. I bought the deluxe pack which had Night Life and Celebrations Stuff. Good times.
My friend had sims freeplay and she let me play it. And then sims 4 came out some time later and i got it. I also played sims 3 but i don't have it anymore🙈
I started playing SimCity back in 1998 and then got The Sims when it released, actually upgraded the ram in my old IBM pc to do so. Really fond memories of comparing cities with my brothers back then.

I only ever played the console version of Sims 1 and had console games all the way up to Sims 2. Then hubby bought it for the PC. I was reluctant to switch at first because it was so different. Lol. But I fell in love with it and have been playing on a computer since, though I've had a Mac since midway through 3.
I started with Sims Bustin' Out on PS2. I remember being addicted to the game, was great fun and even had cars back then which we don't have in Sims 4 haha.

I've been wishing forever they'd do a PC version of Bustin' Out and Urbz. I loved those games.
I chose sims 3, but I only played it much later. (around 2012). I was a toddler around 2009, but I often saw my mother playing the sims 3 basegame, later late night and so on. I always wanted to play, but that was not allowed by my mother . She was afraid that I would destroy her house or something else (killing her sims ofc mwhahaah). Later my grandfather put a crack version on his pc, sims 3, ambitions, high lot stuff (or something) and world adventures. It was super fun! Eventually I got my own super fast PC and I got the sims 3 from my mother, which she already had, and now I am a super fan of the sims. I have all sims 4 games, almost all sims 3 games. I did play sims 2 once, but that doesn't catch me ... That is probably because it comes from another time, I don't know. But I will enjoy the sims forever (I hope).
