Looking Forward To the End Of TS4

and I get why most of us (yes, including myself) are annoyied, frustrated and even furious about the marketing Maxis threw on us with their over recycled "expansions", no follow-up on the "story" (sorry but I'm extra furious about memory system gone and the Sims not being synced with their stories), prices not matching the content of the packs, the packs being almost "empty" additions to the game. Another thing is that we actually have to rely on Mods to change the gameplay and that Maxis even wants you to cheat and add Mods, so what? Is it nice to have someone else make things for people to add to their game so they don't actually have to add new stuff? I mean, it seems convenient alright.
BUT
Am I the only delusional person here that reeeeally doesn't want a TS5 to be released?
Basically what I'm trying to say:
This game is on a platform. Even if it's not an open world game, its still online. It can still take updates and changes in the game through there. SO, whould it be THAT bad if everything was pushed through update patches from now on? Just as they took back some or brought back other features.
And yes, ok, I don't really want to face another series of expansions in a different title. I enjoy playing TS, I just want to see a compromise made for us who have invested for their gameplay so we don't "have to" buy everything from scratch again.
I know this isn't how companies work, but I know that whatever the reason, a budget is a budget and every company should address their players regardless of budget.
The problem is that a game lives or dies by its foundations, if the foundation is badly made it will limit what you can add to it... Such is the case of TS4. Its foundation was made too rigidly, and they seem either unwilling or unable to add in the necessary parts to bring it closer to its predecessors in terms of gameplay.
To date, I have 'rarely' seen a company willing to rewrite the foundation of a game and if they try to add the various gameplay systems to actually improve the Sims in TS4 it'd probably cause critical errors in the game, rendering it unusable.
The sad thing is the new trend of Games as a service:
Adam: Would you buy a car in the state/condition most games are shipped in?
I wouldn’t.
Sören: But they'll put the tires on sometime within the next 4 years
Pelle: Make sure to buy the Engine dlc
With cars they put the tyres on and you get an engine but you pay for all the extras. That's why our latest advert by a car manufacturer bleats on about how it has got everything included as standard with videos of poor customers not getting what they want from the others!

I thought you put me on ignore. Oh, I'm not wishing my life away. I see a big world, a big game, a more mature game, with consequences, not a baby game where everyone is always happy. I see new technology that we don't even understand yet, I see a new team, a new director, a new vision. I will be happy to see something actually new and not limited to this box. ETA: Let me just say this without saying much. Would you have chosen not to see the way TS4 handles CAS just to hold on to TS3? I'm not that type of player or consumer. I'm excited to know there is some new technology that is coming that is worth looking at just as much as those who liked TS4's CAS manipulation were happy to think about and see even though they liked TS2 and TS3. Not sure what a new game will be, but I'm sure, positive it has new tecnology I want to see.

I feel like a need of "divorce"! The good moments of the past will be forever with me but the present its making me sick and future seems dark.
TS4 is not the game I fell in love with in 2000 and kipped me with it until 2013. Its not the same anymore.
Everyone should be happy when TS4 ends. Because of lots of reasons. One, they will finally get all the mods they need to fix everything and not put up with any more patches that break everything again and again.
It will finally come down to do players actually really want an online game or not, and the proof will be in the pudding, only those who really, really do will move over to TS5. The SImming community will become a great place again. Where those that love online (if it is) will have their community where most of us will never go and they will be happy. And those of us (if it's online) will stay behind and continue to make mods and patches for our own particular versions we love and never have to worry about a new game again.

Also keep in mind if they did start the Sims 5 - it still has years before it comes out as the call for a new Sims game workers only went in September 2018 and if they are part of the seed Atlas program it still has about 2 to 3 more years of work before EA mentioned it will be ready to start up...

I hope it's not online, but afraid it will be. But then if it is, as I said it means we can all go back to playing whichever game we like best and can keep making mods for them without anymore annoying patch updates that break mods and vanilla gameplay. It's a happy day!
https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/958714/cinebar-custom-content-clothes-updating-links/p1
Well not as long as they keep the game a service - as that can keep the game getting monthly patches but no other new content. As monthly updates come with the service. EA does have games like that as well in the service. Access is not just for new games content keep that in mind.
Hopefully it does not turn into activision and charge us a monthly fee to play our game like WOW is.

Do you really think after TS5 they will continue to work on and keep patching TS4 other than a DRM update for Origin?
https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/958714/cinebar-custom-content-clothes-updating-links/p1
Yes I do and Origin really does not have a DRM, well not like Securom anyway - it has a check game system. It checks that the game belongs to the account holder before you can play. As far as I know it can never come off that system either so technically it will remain a part of the service and the service is what gives us the monthly or bi-monthly updates.

My main points from all of them that I wish would be incorporated in a patch for features added back in for a TS5:
Building: (I'm a builder, sooo...)
- Stairs! Circular stair cases, stairs with landings (stage base - more than 1 level, preferably) and ability to put stairs in pools (I don't get why that hasn't been done - no new animations required.)
- Ability to recolor objects like TS3 so things match nicer - I really like my colors of wood to match and it can be a struggle when trying new combinations in a room - I get tired of the same ensembles because the pieces I'd prefer don't come in the right shade
- Concave (not just convex) curved foundations
- Ability to connect different foundation levels together (would be nice with pools if you could have a shallow end and a deep end)
- Ability to customize the neighborhood, terrain, etc. like TS2 - I really enjoyed making a center city/town square with businesses, apartments, then farther out suburbs with family homes, a rich section, a rural section.... These worlds are very pretty but too limited. Back to placing the lot size of your choice along the roads was fabulous! Plus you could decorate the world, not just the lots. With the right plant assortment and terrain assortment, we could create our own tropical paradise, arid desert, etc. TS2 was great.
GamePlay:
- young adult/adult Lives are too short. Relationships aren't built quickly enough. A young adult can't date and fall in love multiple times (like RL) or you run out of time to have a family and raise them all before becoming a senior citizen.
- Activity times are way too skewed. Putting away laundry is instantaneous but preparing a salad and eating it takes 3 hours. Different meals should take different prep times and eating should only take 15 for a "quick meal", 30 minutes for a regular meal or an hour or 2 max if there is a lot of conversation like on a date. Dine Out is not fun when a friend asks to go out to breakfast and you aren't done until 3pm, even with rushing to the hostess, placing main order as soon as drinks/apps arrive, etc.
- Get to Work careers - some are fun and some aren't - example: I like the doctor having to diagnose, run tests, etc. but the doctor shouldn't have to check in patients - they line up with no one at the front desk doing anything and then they complain - that's annoying. Being a detective is fun but having to go on patrol suddenly causing people to have street brawls to break up is also silly.
- Salaries are ridiculous and don't anywhere near mirror what RL is like - apartments should come back and not just in Myshuno - that way young folks can build careers without living in some tiny hovel. It takes too long to progress to any time of salary that would support a family size home on a decent 20x20 lot or bigger. I used to not use cheats EVER but it takes too long to build wealth (mirroring the US economy perhaps? haha)
- Romances take forever to develop - you can woohoo but they'll turn down a kiss? WTH? Crushes would be lit because you could fall hard and heavy and then cool off quickly. (You'd think this would be a natural interaction for a game with a Teen rating.) Dating more would be fun to bo my first point - lives are too short - I end up marrying off to the first person flirted with because otherwise I run out of lifespan to build a family; one kid and suddenly they're a senior citizen!
- I agree with the point it was nice to watch kids walk off to school, get picked up for work... and I liked University and how you automatically start off at a higher level in a career - makes sense! Plus that was a great time to build lasting friendships to keep the social needs full.
SO if developers are reading - food for thought.
Only saw it as I had signed off. I have to sign on to Ignore. Hope it comes soon for you and hope you won't be disappointed all over again.
I agree with you. If sims5 is not better than this, there is no point in moving on. If it is online, I'm certainly not interested. I would still be playing sims3, but I can no longer download it. There came a point where I had to completely redo it, and it just would not work. No more game breaking patches would be a plus.

Don’t get me wrong there’s ample opportunity to add various things thru patches, but the underlying issue with Sims 4 is the framework from which it’s built. The time to make major corrective action was a long time ago, at this point it would be incredibly complex and costly. They would be better off creating something new that doesn’t have to accommodate an already assembled game, and the plus on that is they can make money off of it. They don’t make money on the free features and they only release them when they can offset the costs against a DLC pack.
Editing worlds is the least of TS4's problems.
Even as a storytelling tool, TS4 is an exercise in frustration. Try to seat a family of Sims at a table with food and drinks. Direct them to converse. Then, pull all of your hair out as every single Sim leaves your carefully created tableau in order to get up from their seats and have their conversations elsewhere.
Or, try to create a scene where two Sims need to have a standing conversation. Fight back the figurative tears as one or both Sims immediately seek out chairs to sit in. It's especially bad when the seats that the Sims choose force them to continue their conversation with their backs turned.
In other words, using TS4 is a constant struggle and a fight. The easiset way to 'play' the game is to simply let the Sims do as they like, with no interference. Because, inevitably, the coding is going to do the exact opposite anyway.
It's really bad when, in order to get Sims to do what you want them to do, you have to go looking for poses. Or, worse, you have to whip out Blender and create the poses yourself because the Sims just won't do as asked! Leave them alone for two seconds and they're off doing something totally unrelated.
The worlds have already story in them like strangerville and island living. What if i would want that sulani is mysterious island whit that secret. It can't happen since this game already tells some part of that story. If we could get like create a world and you could choose traits to that world also, like you can do whit lots. There would be things like Helpfull sims, kiss on a cheek, mysterious sims, busy sims. etc. And ofc that we could create our own worlds how we want. That would be upgrade.
We got 'better' emotion system but it's not that different on what we did have. I mean not that different that we should make so much trade offs.
I've been very hopefull about sims 4 future but now when time past on i have seeing that we really don't get the things i thought.
Everything on laptops to sunbeds, i was fine about laptops honestly but i feel like every new added feature is just fast made and poorly made feature. All i have seeing is gurus complain about budget and how everything is too hard..
I've heard some people say that sims is so big game that they can't make fit all things in base game but in fact there are a lot of bigger games than the sims and games that have a lot bigger budget for it and cost less.
I mean i get that i can't compare games like that and i know that sims is costly to made but still.
But if the budget is low and they would like to still add those things if they would just have time. They could maybe add create a world tool and save in budgets when the world don't take big part of that. Or something. I mean for now we got really many worlds, even tho i would love to get more of them i think that most of these packs budget goes to those worlds but i would really want new things that expands this sims game.
I know i can't always get what i want in this game but i do think i'm being really patient and accepted a lot of things that bother me.
And I don't want to see the sims 4 to an end for now we need so much stuffs to enjoy !
