Hi everyone! I hope I am doing this correctly (lol). I recently got back into Simming, actually partially because I discovered someone who had done a Sims version of a Sear's Kit Home from the 1920s. I am passionate about all 1910s-1940s architecture, and love kit homes. I have decided to try my hand at creating a few. Starting with something very simple. Please be kind, I am pretty new to creating lots

I have been studying kit homes over 10 years. You mail ordered a complete house and it was delivered by rail car for you (or your contractor to assemble. Sears and Montgomery Ward as well as a few other companies (Gordon Van Tine, Aladdin, etc) offered these homes up until about the early 1940s. I tried to match the actual floorplan as best I could.

The Selby is a very nice home!

You have reflected the design so very well! The simverision is just like the picture and floor plan! Vertner nice seat bench sitting area in the front garden for Sims to enjoy resting in the outdoors air. The flowers look very pretty on the edges of the pathway and either sides of the entrance. Kids will have fun on the swings. Very nice back patio outdoors bbq dining patio. Sims will enjoy cooking meals on the grill and eating them in the sunshine at the umbrella covered table. Very nice furnishing of the interior! The green and brown colour scheme is very nice. Very nice sofa seat sitting area for Sims to enjoy resting on the sofa watching tv. The fruit bowl is a homely touch on the dining table. Very nice type of ceiling lights used. The floor rugs add a nice look to the rooms.
It is a very nice family home!

Thank you @rosemow ! I tried to use the more period light fixtures to go with the age of the home. Love how you give so many kind comments on posts

I am pretty happy with the way this one turned out. I still have some issues with rooflines, but I am not sure how much is me, and how much is the Sims 4 interface.

It features a very spacious Dutch Colonial home based on the Sears Kit/Catalog Home of the same name. A few changes had to be made to make it work in Sims 4. There is a matching Dutch Colonial garage with a full mother-in-law suite or apartment over the garage. #nocc in this lot.

The Marquette is a very nice Dutch Colonial style home!

The exterior design is very nice! Very nice colour of the exterior, and the front porch is very nice! Sims will enjoy sitting there in the outdoors air. The plants are nice either sides of the front door. It is nice that the is a garage with an upper level apartment. The layout and furnishing of the home is very nice! Very nice colour scheme to complement with the exterior. You have reflected the inspiration floor plan and picture very well!
It is a very nice home!

The houses are great! I think you followed the floor plans really well! And I love how you used the turquoise colors, so 40's! lol

I can't believe The Selby was $649!!! Or am I reading something wrong there? My eyes aren't great

The Marquette is just gorgeous! Holy cow, love it! I think you got the roof very well. That seems like a mansion compared to the size of the Selby

It's all very well done, the interior decorating looks as great as it could possibly be in order to match that time period, and all of your pictures are really nice. They show off the houses very well

Thank you! I actually tweaked the roofline on the Marquette and it looks even better now. That is the actual price! Of course it was the 1920s, so there’s inflation. It also cost more for a foundation and if you had someone build it for you.

I finished my build of the Sears Kit Home 'The Alhambra'. One of my favorite kit homes Sears offered, and one of their most popular. A foursquare decorated with mission style Spanish details, it is one of a kind. Really pleased with how this turned out. I haven't uploaded to the gallery yet, as it has some cc. I will do a no cc version soon so I can share.

The Alhambra is a very nice home!

Very nice exterior of the home! The roof covered front porch is very nice. Very nice pool patio. Sims will enjoy swimming in the pool, or sitting around the firepit toasting food and keeping warm. They will enjoy relaxing in the hot tub. Very nice furnishing of the interior! The colour scheme of the living room is calming and peaceful. Very nice sofa and arnchairs fireplace sitting area for Sims to enjoy resting there near the fire watching tv. The placement of the cabinets in the kitchen are very nice, and the wooden texture looks warming and homely. The red colour of the dining room walls is nice. The butterflies picture and the flowers on the side table are pretty for Sims to see when eating a meal.
The home is very nice!

I love love love the idea of building Sears kit homes. I am a history teacher and use Sears catalogs in my lessons about industrialization. Its so cool to see some of them come to life.
