      It's technically a fruit but considered a veggie (since we usually eat it like a vegetable).

      All my friends say it’s a vegetable. Not sure why. Maybe because they aren’t sweet like every other fruit

      Personally, I consider it to be more of a fruit than a vegetable because it has seeds. There's a lot of disagreement about which category it actually falls under, but I've heard a lot of people say it's actually both.

      It may also depend on where you live. Under U.S. customs law it's officially classified as a vegetable, for example.

      "Tomato fruit is classified as a berry. As a true fruit, it develops from the ovary of the plant after fertilization, its flesh comprising the pericarp walls.       We're always calling things wrong! This also......A peanut is not a nut because it is a kind of legume, that is, a kind of bean. :)B)

      ETA: an old saying, "Knowledge is understanding that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad."

      Scientifically, it is a fruit... but I classify food by how they are used and tomatoes are used like vegetables and are therefore vegetables.

      I googled it, and every single answer was "The tomato has been proven to be a fruit". Obviously not in those exact words, but I had to put it in a nutshell.
