Sitting Here Wondering …

I am very dependent on two separate mods and the only cc I have in my game for the one save I've got going at the moment. I was wondering what everyone else is planning to do in the interim, between the Mod-Busting patch set to drop today, and the time it takes (if necessary) for the creators of the mods you depend on to update them?

I may attempt for the umpteenth time to restart my Ancestral game save. I've played my Cantrell family exclusively since we got GF. Admittedly, it was an old save, as I started the family from scratch, using a Sim I made for Erik Cantrell (my singer Sim of choice in Sims3). But, I didn't keep him. I used him to create his parents and then all five of their children were born in game. I wanted to make use of the Values system. Erik was a teen with level 10 singing ability and not far behind in his guitar skills. Then I set it aside to play my ancestral save.

Until GF came out, that is. It was my intention, using MCCC and an earlier version of RTF to create a singer career, more or less, on my own. Once I learned of GF I dropped RTF figuring I wouldn't need it anymore. Afterwards I learned it, too, had been upgraded to augment GF with a singing career! I was one very happy camper. But, then I returned my Mods folder prematurely and that's when things went from bad to worse. (The bright shining moment was discovering there was an upgraded RTF out already.) I installed it readily, but things just weren't functioning as they should.

Turns out not only was the old game save corrupted (as I discovered after the StrangerVille patch dropped), but Erik as well. Face/palm. I have spent all of this time on a brand new game save and a fresh copy of him (starting as a teen) to get him back to his Global Superstar status. So, you know I'm going to be very cautious this time around. I will pull my Mods folder, but without MCCC and RTF, I don't dare play my Global Superstar.

I am curious to know what your post-patch plans are. :)

I have been playing a game with a mod not to be mentioned ;) so I will go back to my generation save and do a vanilla game (and hope I don't kill anyone off) for a bit until the one mod I can't play without is updated. The rest are fun but I don't need them.

Luckily(?) for me, I won’t get to play until either my day off Friday or my other one one Sunday. Very long afternoon-into-night shifts for me this week, so no Sims!
So I’m hoping by the time I actually do get the chance to update and play, my favored mods will be updated as well. Which they should be; while I use a ton of mods for my game, I rely on UI and MC Command Center the most, which both always get readily fixed.

Thank you for responding. I think I'm going to go ahead and set-up my ancestral game save again. :) I will also spend some time recovering my builds that are spread across two or three separate Trays. (At least I had the foresight to save the Tray, right?) Oi! It's my intention to place the builds into a game save (more if needed) and then remove the older Tray so that as I save them all to my library, hopefully, they'll all show up in the same Tray. Then, if successful, I shall make a copy of this new Tray and place it on a flash drive for safer-keeping. :)

Hope it works out the way you want! I also use MCCC and the newest Road to Fame.

I don't use any mods to avoid these situations.

I had some needs the game can't fulfill, so I turned to mods. Mind you, I only use two and they're updated rather quickly. It was totally MY error that created the mess I just got out of. Totally me. LOL

I have a vanilla test save with my unlocker character. She gets to the top of every new job to unlock career clothes for other sims.

That's what I do every time I have to wait for mods to update, before I go back to my carefully curated normal save.
I'm not sure there are clothes to unlock with the freelance career though. I hope so.

I'm to afraid of messing my game up with mods to try any. :D

I rely on so many mods it's ridiculous... But most of them are simple mods that get rid of some annoyances, I'm not expecting a lot of them to break since they haven't so far (and I have them for years now). The bigger and more important ones like NPC control, MCCC, Meaningful Stories, etc. are always updated rather quick, so.

But still. Patches like these are both a blessing and a curse, haha. I'll probably not play at all until the most important mods are updated, but chances are I won't play my official save until I know for sure which mods/CC are broken. You're lucky you only have a couple!

I think I’ll start my game offline and play without the patch long enough to let deaderpool and roburky do their thing.
I shouldn’t have to play with laptops for too long ;)
    Then I’ll backup and patch.

Mostly it’s my Sims ages I’d be worried about messing up. I customise heavily.

I don't really depend on a majority of mods ( MCCC rarely gets borked and deaderpool is always quick to update it and roburky is my only bigger changing mods) Usually have small mods that are rarely ever affected by patches breaking them completely. (Sacrificial mods ALWAYS break and glitch badly I've never bothered with them)

I always end up backing up my Sims save file and tray files uploading it in the case that it does get borked. Happened in too many previous Sims games.

What I do is wait until the mods get updated before I patch, it usually does not take too long and I play without internet on everything is fine. I do this at least till the big mods (like MCCC or Slice Of Life) get updated then wait to the other ones come back~.

I'll mainly build and or create sims. I sometimes share things if I've done something that I'm particularly proud of and having a pure vanilla game makes it easier.

I spend the time continuing on my main save, where it is purely unmodded, and so I can continue where I left off on the stories. It was about time too, seeing as I neglected it sometime before even GF came out.

Well, my hard drive died two days ago and I forgot to back up my mods and CC. Also lost many lots that I didn't upload to the gallery. So I'll be playing vanilla until I feel like conjuring up some energy to start over.

deaderpool already has a hotfix out.

And roBurky said their mods were fine. I'd double check that info, to be on the safe side.

    @GalacticGal and @ChelleJo

I know, and I’m sooo happy! :) Updated MCCC, patched my game and everything seems to be working fine.
I only use MCCC, Meaningful Stories and one little one that takes away/hides the lot trait FX
