I Think I Figured Out How To Fix The Toddler Glitch

This glitch has been the bane of my existence since I started playing this game. Basically, when a toddler glitches and doesn't age up, your game is borked and you can't go into edit sim and age them up because it just runs and runs, etc so you lose that whole family. I have had it happen to me so many times that I became determined to figure out a way to fix it.

I can't believe how the answer was so obvious and I missed it.

Anyway, the other day I started a family that I was really liking. I had been making a habit of saving my household (with house) into the library because I had lost a bunch of building I had done on a house and it made me mad, lol. On this particular family, I had just saved the family to the library and went to age up the toddler. GLITCH. After I got over being mad, I remembered I had saved the family in the library so I went into edit town, bulldozed the lot etc, and put the copy family and house on that lot, went back into the game, did a save as, and tried to age the toddler up again.

SUCCESS!

So, now, right before every birthday, I just save the household and/or house to the bin and no one has glitched out yet. I have no idea why I didn't think of this before!

I really hate losing my sim families and houses, and I really, really hate that toddler glitch. Let me know if it works for you as well!

I feel silly too, because I never had this glitch and I raised over 60 toddlers in this game

What could trigger it?

You are lucky!

I have no idea what triggers it. It's done it when I've triggered age transition to age them up AND when they have a regular birthday with the cake. A few other people have had it happen to them as well and we couldn't figure out what makes it happen. Sims 3 corruption, I guess? I dunno. I'm just happy that I won't lose my imaginary peoples anymore, lol

I've had it happen once or twice but I always managed to get them to age up eventually. Only bad side affect was one of them turned into pudding but I fixed that too by manually adjusting his features after the successful age up. I do recall resetting him a few times in the process so I don't know exactly how I fixed him for sure. I was using NRAAS Master Controller when I reset him so that builds a new sim.

I've had this happen maybe twice in the time I have been playing. In recent times when it happened I took it back to a previous save (I always do several save as saves during a sim day and generally just before birthdays) and reset the sim using MC before I tried again. Like @Karritz, I ended up with a pudding sim when I kept trying before the hard MC reset. It worked after the MC reset and, more often than not, I save my sims to the bin at all life stages so that, should it happen again, I can do a body swap with the bin sim.

I have never had it and I've been playing the game for ten years. I wonder what it is.
