I have installed the following Expansion Packs: All

I have installed the following Stuff Packs: All except Katy Perry Sweet Treats

I own the following Store Content: A LOT of it, probably less of the clothes than other stuff. Can pick up something you might use if I don't have it. A few sets I don't own and don't want are the casino/Las Vegas-ish stuff (except I do have the poker and roulette tables), through the looking glass (although I have a few small decor pieces from those), and futureshock.

I own the following EA-made Worlds: All

Some of my favorite colors are: I love blues and greens and shades in between, lavenders and purples that are on the blue side, as well as neutrals/earth tones. I prefer subtle shades, ranging from light to dark.

I really don’t like this color: Any color is OK, but if it's in the red/orange/reddish purple family or something very bright or intense, I'd probably rather only see it in small accents that add a bit of a color pop rather than whole walls of it or flooring, etc.

^^ Above is what I've said in the past, and it's basically true, but being totally honest with myself, I just don't like red, except in some flowers. In fact, I spend a lot of time in game eradicating it from any lot I'm very interested in.

I love to use items from this set: I use a lot of different things, but I always seem to find a spot for *something* from the Contemporary Comfort sets, the Bayside kitchen stuff, BahHaus, I like anything related to gardening/farming that comes from the store.

I prefer to play in this EA-made World: I'm never sure what to say here. Basically, I don't play the built worlds. I have stripped versions of them that I build up myself. I still play in my Sunset Valley where I've done the waterfront and part of the downtown with Greencats' Barnacle Bay builds and some others in that style, which becomes more conventional/suburban as it goes back from the water, and eventually turns to farms and a couple cabins at the back. I also play in my redone, non-supernatural version of Moonlight Falls that I started by putting in all the cabins from a contest aricarai did a couple years ago. While they're both pretty well built up, there's room for some more houses (not sure about lot sizes but smaller would probably be safer) and some interesting neighbors for my sims wouldn't go amiss. I really like Sunlit Tides and Appaloosa Plains and have been planning to start something in those (stripped) worlds but haven't gotten around to it.

I enjoy playing in this custom world (please include link): Right now, I'm only playing in two very tiny custom worlds, one being Hylewood and the other one a small farming type world by MySimRealty (can't think of name right now and think she didn't take it to her new site). Since they're so small, it took no time to pretty well fill them up, and so we just don't need to worry about them.

I enjoy this style of build the most (Examples: Craftsman, Victorian, Modern): I like a lot of styles really, from Victorians to Contemporaries. Cape Cods have a special place in my heart. For a couple years, I've been rather into rustic and rustic contemporary type builds - I guess I like them more on the sophisticated, eclectic side of rustic.

I really don’t want this in my game: I guess those few mentioned excluded store sets above and overly huge and/or over-stuffed builds.

I would or would not like lots in the following sizes: I like a variety of sizes. Small to medium are easier to find spots for on the map. I'm not really interested in having "just a house" on something like a 64 x 64, but would rather reserve those for farms/ranches or certain community lots.

I want/don’t want berry sims: Don't want. I've seen some really pretty and interesting berry sims, but I don't play them.

I want/don’t want occult sims: I play a few, but basically, I'm not really looking for more right now.

I want/don’t want pets in the household: I love the pets. Dogs, cats, horses (and unicorns) are all welcome. Fish are fine, too. The other small pets are hard for me to manage, so I rarely put those in. If you're making a household, it's easier for me if I only have to deal with one or two pets.

Do you want your sims and/or pets skilled up for you? If so, how much? A little skilling is fine if it fits the sim's (or pet's) background. I don't feel I have to start every sim as a blank slate. But, unskilled is quite OK, too.

Are there certain skills you want skilled because you really like having them ready when you start with a new sim or household? A little cooking skill is nice to have right off the bat but isn't totally necessary. Otherwise, if it fits the sim's backstory, go for it if you like but don't feel you have to.

Are there particular skill items that you really like having in a build? I tend to have a lot of cooking, gardening, painting, writing sims in my games, so anything that makes them feel at home is great. I always like to have an easel and chess set in my houses. On the flip side, sims that want to work out all.the.time drive me a little batty, so I'm very conservative about including any exercise equipment on home lots.

How do your sims travel around town? Taxi ... vehicle ... bicycle/scooter ... horse ... broom? (Mention your preference and whether you want a parking spot or two, garage, bike racks, stable, broom stand. Some sims prefer to put transportation in their inventory, if applicable.) I'm OK with whatever you'd like to put in that fits your idea - or with nothing. It's not likely I'll be playing witches and need brooms, though.

Other: I've been thinking about starting out a household with "nothing" - except like a tent and fire pit and and a bit of a bathroom - probably in an empty world but at least out somewhere away from others. I haven't done that for a while, and in the past I had fun with it. Someplace islandy for it sounds fun to me right now, although other settings could work, too. I think I'd like to start with either a couple (the male/female traditional type) or maybe a few singles that could get to know each other and eventually split into more than one household. The reason I'd rather not start with just one sim is that I just don't like to play any of the game generated sims, or usually even any of the premades. As I start to develop the world further (assuming it's basically empty), the first kinds of things I would probably add would be something with the consignment registers, a fishing spot (if not already there), and a community garden (I admit I like to "cheat" and have better quality plants than what you get with seeds you pick up off the ground.). Having an interesting background story of how these sims came to be in this remote place would be great. (By the way, while I wish I did, I don't own that neat castaway preorder set that would be perfect for this kind of thing.)

Mostly, I want my buddy to have fun and not worry too much about what I might or might not want. I'm sure I'll like your creativity and thoughtfulness the most.

I went back and copy/pasted my letter from last time and then updated it a little. It looked to me as though the form stayed the same, but if I'm wrong and need to change something, I'll be happy to figure that out tomorrow.

    Thanks @Ciane, I didn't realize I had missed a question.

I fixed my letter and hopefully I can get my test lot uploaded later today. I wasn't able to finish it last night. Hi everyone! I meant to say hi after verifying that I could upload but now that it's going to be longer I didn't want to go without saying anything. I hope you had a lovely weekend.

I'm all caught up on reading every letter now. I love getting to know you all a bit better through your letters with glimpses of how you play and what you like or don't.

I have installed the following Expansion Packs: ALL

I have installed the following Stuff Packs: ALL

I own the following Store Content: I own pretty much the whole store. IF you happen to use something that I don't have, it's ok. I'll try getting it.

I own the following EA-made Worlds: ALL

Some of my favorite colors are: BLUE! (my favorite), Red, Green ... Other Colors -- PASTEL EVERYTHING.

I really don’t like this color: Brown (( I will use brown for accents. NOT FOR main colors ))

I love to use items from this set: Hard to say. If it looks good with what I am building, or creating (sim-wise), then I'll use it.

I prefer to play in this EA-made World: I haven't played in ANY EA world in a while. ((because I haven't played my sims 3 in a while))

I enjoy playing in this custom world (please include link): My *own* world -- Misty Falls https://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8753643

I enjoy this style of build the most: (Examples: Craftsman, Victorian, Modern) While I am partial to Victorian homes, I think this time around, I would like to see (have built) something in a MODERN style. Nothing *too* ultra modern.

I really don’t want this in my game: NO CC

I would or would not like lots in the following sizes: (If you’re a fan of tiny lots, then here is a great place to mention that! If larger lots make your game lag while loading them, mention it!) I don't like lots that are huge. It makes trying to find your sim, really hard to locate. I prefer lots that are 20 by 30, 30 by 30, and an OCCASIONAL 30 by 40.

I want/don’t want berry sims: NO BERRY SIMS. Not a fan

I want/don’t want occult sims: (Be sure to specifically list those that you are fine with or mention which ones you don’t want to see in your game!) NO OCCULT SIMS. Not a fan

I want/don’t want pets in the household: (Like cats more than dogs? Prefer cute puppies to horses? Don’t want any critters? Mention it!) While I *lovvvvve* cats, I DO NOT WANT ANY PETS

Do you want your sims and/or pets skilled up for you? If so, how much? (Example: A couple of points, but not maxed out) IF you create a sim for me, I **would like** him or her to have SOME cooking skill. (( I wouldn't them to burn down their new house, or anything. )) Having a few points in gardening would also be nice to have! OH!! And handiness. I think that would take care of the "basics".

Are there certain skills you want skilled because you really like having them ready when you start with a new sim or household? (Example: A few points in Cooking would be nice so sims don’t burn the grilled cheese and can make more than a mean bowl of cereal!) READ ABOVE ANSWER

Are there particular skill items that you really like having in a build? (Example: I love having sims that can cook, garden, paint and write so having those skill objects would be awe-sim!) A bookcase that I can add (buy books) skills books to.

Other: (Describe here anything that you’d really like that might or might not have been previously mentioned!) As far as the house.... IF you are unsure as to HOW you would design and build something, I find that GOOGLING for house plans are the way to go. SOME TIMES the same plan can be found on several floor plan sites. Jut remember! Floor plans are just a guide. But, IF it will help you, then go for it!!!

What I really want, is for my buddy to HAVE FUN creating whatever they come up with. We're not all master builders or Picasso's. If you are enjoying WHAT EVER you are making for me, I will love it.

** IF YOU WANT - I don't mind if you want to add a garage, or a car spot, to my gift.

My lot uploaded okay, and I answered the question I forgot so I should be good to go.

I got a chance to read through the buddy letters so far, I'm really excited to see what everyone will come up. There are some great builders already signed up, and hopefully some new faces will join in the fun too.

    Buddy Letter form:

    Username: Kgaff

Link to your Sims 3 My Page: http://mypage.thesims3.com/mypage/Kgaff

I have installed the following Expansion Packs: All of them

I have installed the following Stuff Packs: All EXCEPT Fast Lane, Katy Perry Sweet Treats and Movie Stuff.

I own the following Store Content: Everything except pre order sets, Katy Perry, Dr. Pepper and a few misc. clothing items.

I own the following EA-made Worlds: I have all the EA worlds

Some of my favorite colors are: blue, peach, yellow, soft greens. Beach colors, woodsy colors, mellow colors

I really don’t like this color: Bright orange, purple, really dark colors and please go easy on the brown (except for wood of course)

I love to use items from this set: I use it all and mix it up so whatever you have, go for it!

I prefer to play in this EA-made World: I use all of them except Midnight Hollow

I enjoy playing in this custom world (please include link): N/A

I enjoy this style of build the most: Ranch, Victorian, Second Empire, traditional style family homes. For commercial lots I enjoy having multiple things to do on the one lot like eating, something fun or athletic or artistic.

I really don’t want this in my game: can't think of anything

I would or would not like lots in the following sizes: 20x20, 30x30 are best but if you need more or less room that's okay too! [Please no 40x30 lots] I usually play a single sim so one or two bedrooms if perfect if you are going build a house

I want/don’t want berry sims: no thank you

I want/don’t want occult sims: Witches or fairies are okay. I don't really play with the occult too much.

I want/don’t want pets in the household: Sure! I like all of them but only one per household

Do you want your sims and/or pets skilled up for you? If so, how much? A couple of skill points of any kind is great but not necessary

Are there certain skills you want skilled because you really like having them ready when you start with a new sim or household? If you have time but totally not required Cooking, charisma, handiness

Are there particular skill items that you really like having in a build? (Example: I love having sims that can cook, garden, paint and write so having those skills would be awe-sim!) I love having a computer, starter garden and I really like my sim to have the sketch pad and/or the drafting table instead of an easel. Oh and the Multi Tab 6000

How do your sims travel around town? Taxi ... vehicle ... bicycle/scooter ... horse ... broom? (Mention your preference and whether you want a parking spot or two, garage, bike racks, stable, broom stand. Some sims prefer to put transportation in their inventory, if applicable.) Mostly my sims just use a taxi, however, if you are building a ranch they would probably use a horse, same goes for a witch would use a broom. It depends on the build and/or sim. I sometimes give university kids a bike. All that being said, I do like to have a garage with a house if there is room on the lot.

Other: I have been playing around with the Late Night and Showtime things lately. Every time I load a new game in any world the first thing I do is fix up the bars and venues so there is actually a bar and some thing fun in them. So if you want to a new venue/bar/night spot would be fun.

I'm open to everything, just have fun, use your imagination, let yourself go!

If you don't like to build, there are lots and lots of homes and/or businesses in all the towns that really could use a remodel.

I have installed the following Expansion Packs: All

I have installed the following Stuff Packs: I most all of them except for Diesel Stuff, Master Suite and 70's, 80's, & 90's.

I own the following Store Content: I own most of the store content but not all. I own all of the venues except the Olympian Physique. I own most of the compilations except for February 2011, April 2011 (I don't own The street couture set for kids and teens), August 2011, November 2011 (I don't own the Atomic Age set), Fun for kids of all ages, Make a wish (I own a lot of items in this set so if there is something you want to use feel free to ask :)), No tricks, just treats, and April 2013 (I don't own the Tutor of Tutors set).

I own the following EA-made Worlds: All

Some of my favorite colors are: I love jewel tones, and blue is my favorite. However, I also love pastels. Any color palette is fine as long as it blends together.

    I really don’t like this color: N/A

I love to use items from this set: Some of favorite sets for the store are bohemian garden and the bakery set. I also just purchased the bistro set so I've been having a lot of fun incorporating the restaurant aspect into community lots.

I prefer to play in this EA-made World: Twinbrook

I enjoy playing in this custom world (please include link): N/A

I enjoy this style of build the most: Craftsman, Victorians, Shacks that fit the swampy area of Twinbrook and don't look the best ;) Basically, I'm looking for residential homes that suit the area of Twinbrook. One thing that I would love to also have in Twinbrook is a lot that incorporates the Boardwalk Venue as well as the World of Wonder set but I can't figure out where would be a good place to place an amusement park in Twinbrook.

I really don’t want this in my game: Modern houses aren't my favorite

I would or would not like lots in the following sizes: Any lot size is fine.

I want/don’t want berry sims: I don't want berry sims.

I want/don’t want occult sims: Any occult sim is fine :)

I want/don’t want pets in the household: I love any pets!

Do you want your sims and/or pets skilled up for you? If so, how much? You can if it would suit the sim that you created.

Are there certain skills you want skilled because you really like having them ready when you start with a new sim or household? Nope, it's up to you.

Are there particular skill items that you really like having in a build? Gardening is one of my favorite skills.

Other: Have fun! I'm sure I'll love what you create! :)

Ahh! I'm so excited!! Especially after missing the last one... I'm going to have to buckle down to finish my current project (for the Gift of Creation game) before buddy names get handed out.

Anyway, I'll be back later with my buddy letter, but I wanted to drop in and say hi! Lots of familiar faces and amazing creators already signed up  Looking forward to a fun exchange with you all. And as always, thank you to the wonderful and generous Addie for hosting yet again! <3

Its been a few years since I first participated, but I'm always watching on the sidelines and even bookmark all the threads. I don't always keep up with the chatter, but I always love seeing the gifts at the very end and recommend till my my index finger is blue! Jk. :D

I think I missed the last go around by just a hair, so I've been looking forward to it. We were definitely due.

By the way, it's nice to see lots of familiar faces! *waves hi to everyone*

And what a lot of beautiful people and wonderful creators here! <3 *Waves* :kissing_heart:

I have to say that I am thinking of join or not. I have a build done and ready to upload and I´d love it was for a gift. But I´m not sure if I could build a new one. And I really don´t play sims 3 since long time ago, so I really don´t need a gift back.

I´m going to wait and think.

So! I've actually been PLAYING my Sims 3 game, since I created and uploaded my tester house!! :# There's only a *small* handful of times when my game wants to freeze up. ((mostly whenever _I_ want to live stream it)) But, it's been SOOOOO nice to be able to play with the OPEN world again... to actually be able to FOLLOW your sim (in map view)... *and* to be able to HARVEST all the plants we don't have in 4.

OH!! And GO TO University!! :D:D (a place where my sim is at NOW)

    *****************

Anyway ..... since my "absence" of the past few days, I noticed that a FEW MORE PEOPLE have joined!! Familiar faces!! HI GUYS!!! *waves*

Can't wait to see if we get more people to sign up for this! :#

I was wondering, how do you feel about parking lots and/or garages on lots? It wasn't really covered in the buddy questions. My sims usually ride a bike or scooters, and only need a bike rack, so I rarely think to leave space for parking on lots.
  • suzsessuzses Posts: 2,433 Member
@Jessabeans A lot of times, if I'm making a lot for my own sims, I don't include them. Sometimes it's because they ride bikes or their horses, but sometimes I just think putting cars in their backpacks is perfectly normal and OK. ;) When I do include them, it's either to fill up space I don't really want to do something else with or, if it's a garage, to fill up with other things I don't really want in the house itself. Occasionally, it's for other reasons, such as, I love how an old pick-up truck looks in a driveway on a farm, or a big garage with a couple expensive cars might seem the thing to have for wealthy sims (and those are usually not the sims I'm playing).
