  Do you know if you have integrated graphics or a dedicated graphics card?

  My card is Intel HD Graphics. My computer runs fine with it unless I want to edit a pet only in Sims 4.

  I was just thinking of it's a dedicated graphics card you may need to update your drivers. The pet editing in CAS from what I understand is graphics processing heavy.

  My computer says 4GB but the tower that my computer comes with says 500GB of hard drive, if that's what you mean. If not, then 4GB of memory.

  What method are you using to take them into CAS? Does this only happen when adding existing pets? Can you make a pet in CAS first, then add them to your household later? (You can always add a human sim temporarily when making the family.) Have you tried taking the family to CAS instead and adding a pet that way?
  
  Lastly, if you have any mods, remove them, delete the localthumbcache.package file and try again.
