Syndicate is a small, quiet European village, and a mysterious place it is too. Being the tight-nipped neighbourhood that it is, rumours spread fast, secrets are short-lived, and gossip soon becomes public. Each resident of Syndicate is unique and distinct from each other. In the far corner of Syndicate lived a wealthy family: The Joneses.
The cause of the family’s wealth was down to their business ‘Jones’ Inc.’ Holding such great wealth meant that a grand reputation was put upon them. Each member of the family was expected to act and behave in a certain way, and Mr Jones was by no means going to let anyone or anything ruin this anytime soon. Unlike her perfect sister, Jazmine, Mayfia was a much more mischievous girl, she didn’t care for rules, and would much rather be outside running around, getting dirty, and playing like any child should, rather than sitting at the dining table being taught which fork should be used at what time.
Mayfia soon took a liking to the farmers’ son, Clancy, due to his playful personality, but this friendship was not approved by her father. He did not want her socialising and mixing with people below their class - something like this could greatly harm his reputation, and so with that, he banned any future contact between the two of them. This did not stop Mayfia and Clancy from seeing each other though. They soon found a way to keep their friendship hidden from the rest of Mayfia’s family. A magical place hidden within the bushes in the middle of nowhere was discovered by the two adventurous children, now allowing them to spent every day together throughout their childhood and into their teen years. But this friendship soon turned into lust. One day, the two took things a step too far, stopping them from keeping their relationship hidden - Mayfia, one day, fell pregnant with Clancy’s baby. When Mr Jones found out about his unborn grandchild, he immediately banished Mayfia from their home, and the family soon forgot that they ever had another daughter. Jazmine, their favourite, from now on was the only daughter they recognised. He could not let this news become public, because his egocentric views of the world were the only thing that mattered to him.
Sad and depressed, Mayfia was alone. Despite having moved in with her childhood sweetheart, she wasn’t as happy as she thought they would be. The two were struggling for cash, and Clancy’s drinking habits did not help. Every night he spent at the pub, and would return home drunk, hoping for love. The bills kept piling up, and Mayfia could not see any way that the bills would ever get paid if they carried on like this. So one morning, she got out of bed, bright and early and ventured into the town centre where she knew a job listing for the Mayor’s PA had recently opened. This job was soon to be hers.
Having now worked at the town hall for some time, Mayfia began to once again find enjoyment in life. But perhaps this was not due to her new job. The Mayor of Syndicate was known to have a sweet spot for younger women, and Mayfia perfectly fitted into this category. The two became closer and closer every day, until they were one day caught making love in a closet. The news spread like wildfire around Syndicate, the mayor was embarrassed, Mayfia was humiliated.
Madame Rouge is the fanciest woman in the whole of Syndicate. Her fashion has flair, and her mannerisms have panache. She will do anything to be seen in a positive light amongst the other towns folks, especially the mayor. Her crush on the mayor is so big that it is obvious to everyone else in town, except for the mayor himself. She instantly came to the aid of the mayor to help him get back to his feet, despite too being furious at Mayfia for stealing the heart of the one man she loved the most.
Returning home, guilty and shameful, Mayfia knew that Clancy would have heard about the scandal by now. Filled with pure anger and hate, Clancy denied Mayfia access into her own home, and insisted that she found somewhere else to live from now on. The relationship that the two had grew and cherished for years now was over.
The scandal had reached every paper, and the Jones’ name was now shamed. The reputation that Mayfia’s father had built over the years was destroyed. It seemed as if the Joneses now had no way of rebuilding the town’s turst, and with that, the business had to shut down.
Walking the streets of Syndicate, tired and hungry, with little to no change left in her pocket. Mayfia knew she’d have to find food somewhere, and so the local café seemed like her only option. One night, she watched Sheila and Simon Lacewing, the owners of the café lock up, ready to soon break in when no one was watching. She sneaked into the shop and took whatever she could find. She was not careful about her actions as she hastily ran around the store like a headless chicken, trying to find anything she could get her hands on. And as she charged over to the till, she knocked over a burning candle, setting the place alight. As she left the shop, she looked back to see what she had done. In the distance she heard the faint sound of sirens coming towards her. Unsure what to do, her natural instincts told her to run.
It seemed as if everyone in Syndicate was now angry with Mayfia Jones, and wanted to seek revenge. The Mayor’s reputation was ruined by Mayfia. Clancy’s heart was broken by Mayfia, and Madame Rouges’ heart was stolen by her too. The Jones’ business was terminated due to their daughter. The farmers were now occupied trying to help comfort their son. And the Lacewing’s café was now burnt to a crisp due to Mayfia’s reckless actions. Running away from what she had done, Mayfia stumbled upon an ominous figure, holding a gun, and within a split second, Mayfia’s life was taken away from her.

Mayfia Jone’s death came as a shock to the whole of Syndicate, despite her actions having angered many townsfolk, everyone could agree that this despicable crime should not go unpunished. And so, Officer Byron, the town’s local police officer, was put in charge of investigating the mystery behind this barbaric act.
Officer Byron called in several residents of Syndicate to be investigated by Officer Byron on suspicion of murdering the poor girl; those included Mayfia’s family, husband and parents-in-law, The Mayor of Syndicate, Madame Rouge and the owners of the town’s local café. Each day and each night, the 10 of them would seat themselves around a table in the neighbourhood pub and plead their innocence to the officer.
The Farmer’s Wife was the first person’s innocence to be proven. The night of the crime she was busy in the farm shop closing up and preparing for the next day, so despite being angry with Mayfia Jones for breaking the hear of her son, she could not be responsible for the crime.
Simon Lacewing’s innocence was next proven, for he on the night of the crime was busy salvaging anything he could from the pile of rubble that used to be his livelihood. Which was later followed by Jasmine Jone’s alibi too.
After having asked where Madame Rouge was on the night of the crime, she froze. The room that surrounded her was dead, quiet and oddly disturbing. Each and every pair of eyes glared at her waiting for her to provide her alibi. Dumfounded and guilt-ridden, she was unable to come up with an excuse. She exhaled before exclaiming that she in fact shot Mayfia Jones, because she was jealous. She confessed her attraction for the Mayor, and explained that the scandal broke her heart. Everything she does is to impress the mayor, but he never notices, and for this girl to steal his heart in under five minutes hurt her.
The Mayor admired Madame Rouge’s bravery, and followed her response by backing her up, and confessing to be involved in the crime as well. Despite not having actually shot Mayfia Jones, he explained that she only did it because he asked her to. His reputation was on the line, and needed to cover up the story as quickly as possible, and something as dramatic as this seemed like the only way. Madame Rouge was shocked by this confession, the mayor had done no such thing, so why would he confess to this. Bewildered, she decided not to say anything, as a smile from the mayor as he turned around to look at her assured her that everything would be ok.
Knowing what this meant, they prepared for a life sentence locked away in the prison cells on the outskirts of their small village. But before Officer Byron could arrest the two of them, three ominous figures, all dressed in black, came charging through the door and into the pub that the villagers were sat in…
The Mayor of Syndicate is a kind and generous man, who has a sweet spot for younger women, so with Mayfia Jones working for him as his PA, he let his feelings get the better of him.
When the news that the two were having an affair spread across the town, the mayor knew that his reputation would decrease, and so would his votes in the next election if he didn’t do something. Perhaps he was responsible for her death?

Clancy Smith
Clancy, the son of Syndicate’s local farmers, was born into a relatively poor household. Due to this, Mr Jones, arguably the richest man in the whole of Syndicate, wasn’t happy to find out that his daughter was beginning to take a liking to him. Despite of this, however, both Clancy and Mayfia didn’t let this stop them from seeing each other, and spent every second escaping to a magical place, hidden from the rest of society.
Now that he’s all grown up, his playful ways are beginning to harm his relationship, and his drinking habits are putting an enormous amount of pressure on the very little money the two now have.
After finding that Mayfia had fallen into the hands of the Mayor, Clancy immediately called things off and kicked her out the house. Perhaps his drunken ways and anger issues were the reason for Mayfia’s brutal murder.
