I'm glad to see that there are actually a significant percentage of people who are over 60 playing the games. I'm quite tired of ageism in the gaming community particularly from some places overseas (I'm from Britain). I hope that I can get my mum into playing as I'm sure she'd enjoy it if she would just give it a chance.
🐸🐸🐸🐸 why is the oldest category 60+ when humans are known to live to their 110s? Seems as if that + has to cover more than all the other groups combined.

But I have severe anxiety and can't help but care, to an unhealthy degree, what people think of me. So, when someone asks what I like to do for fun, I freeze and am like "fun???? I uh... pay taxes. Like an adult. No, I don't play a silly computer game for hours. Don't be ridiculous."

Do you mean social anxiety disorder?

I simply put 60+, because I don't know how long people may live. Some may die at 70, some may die at 80, etc. I didn't want to offend anyone, so it was easier to just say 60+. That refers to anyone 60 and older. Sorry if I offended you.

I'm 39. Been playing since the original sims. Actually I started with sim city before sims was even a game.

I try to get my teenage daughter to play sims, but she just doesn't get into video games period. I've been in love with video games since Nintendo first came out, so the fact my daughter doesn't like them makes me sad.

I honestly did not know that the Sims community was so diverse in age, though. That's actually really interesting.

I can totally relate to this. I'm embarrassed to say that I play video games so much, but I love it too much to ever stop. So, I'll just do it secretly and hope I meet fellow Simmers, who won't judge me. But hey, there are lots of older Simmers on the forums who proved me that age truly is just a number! :)

What? You're embarrassed you play video games? I dont understand...

Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only 20+ person on here!

I'm 24, and have been played The Sims since I was around 7/8 :)
    Summer and Tinkles
    friends to the end
    Group text the whole crew,
    my mother f***ing friends
    Ketchup to the salt,
    salt to the fry
    "T" to the "Inkle"
    with a capital "I".

Well, some people may see it as childish or it just won't interest them to talk about it. My parents are two of those people, though two of my uncles still game. I don't want to risk boring people, getting made fun of or people thinking I'm childish, lol.

It is nice to see all ages are represented in the poll. I hope EA realizes the target group is not just teenage girls.

The "target group" is whatever they want it to be. It could be 90 year old men if they wanted. Of course that doesn't mean everyone who plays the game is inside that target group, but I think it's probably the largest demographic. This type of poll is fun for discussion's sake but it's not really going to give us an accurate picture as to who's playing the game. The players who use the forum make up an extremely small part of the overall community and it seems to attract older players (which makes sense since it also serves as a platform for people to discuss older games)

I totally agree with you. I also realized that when I created the poll.

Uh, yeah. I genuinely meant that this polls makes me feel better, because I get legitimately distressed at the thought of admitting that I still play computer games at 25, lol.

In the Facebook group I'm in most of the members are well over 18. Theres over 50,000 people in that group. More than half of simmers are women/girls also.

At the end of the day, nothing of this really matters. If you enjoy playing the game, then play it. It doesn't matter how old you are, what your gender is, what your sexual orientation is, what race you are or where you come from. Part of why I love this game so much is because it can be enjoyed by anyone. This poll was just made for fun and is not meant to be an accurate representation of people playing the game, nor should it be taken seriously.

Started with the launch, go through spurts of playing for weeks on end, then take breaks for months. I agree with the statement above, it IS a lifestyle! :D I'll be 60 this year.

<3 I love that theres more women that play sims than guys. Its most likely the only popular game out there dominated by girls.

I don't . I just love that so many women do enjoy sims, because its one of the few games that attracts women that dont really play any other game. They just play sims! Not all , but a lot of them <3

True. I think it's really cool and sexy if women play violent games that are dominated by men, lol.

Well, I have decided that people who think gaming is for kids and not a woman approaching 40 are simply out of the loop - stuck in the past and its old norms. I am the trendy and modern one o:)
