Sims 4: Discovering Brindleton. Adding snow and a polar bear to it!

Sims 3: Realizing that my new computer can actually handle ALL the expansion packs at once!

Sims 2: Making an entire town from CAS bin Sims and realizing how fun they were to play!

I keep switching between different saves, each of them in a different world and using completely different settings. Some favourite moments from this year:

I used the Supernatural EP and played in Moonlight Falls for the first time. My gardener sim Cora bought an elixir and became a fairy, and joined efforts with her two roommates, an angler and a cook, to prepare ambrosia and revive a local ghost (another thing I'd never tried before).

    h3JQAG7.jpg

    cttoMVe.jpg

I have had the beautiful custom world GlenDonnach installed for a few years, but I only played in it for the first time this year. Since the creator of the world built their own buildings to replace the rabbit holes, it was also the perfect place to try out Zerbu's open careers mod. My sim Tamsin moved into the world and joined the medical career, and found love with a painter called Stuart.

In my Sunlit Tides save, the Surfing Academy students have aged up to young adults and graduated both from their regular high school and from the Surfing Academy.

    wUPfFEz.jpg

    uecyCuc.jpg

    KDlhfmM.jpg

Most of my saves are not generational - in fact, sorting through these screenshots, I've realised that most of my saves can be summed up as "red-haired YA woman moves into new town and pursues her lifetime wish", with aging turned off or very slow. But I have a generational game in Sunset Valley that I started specifically to have a family with an enormous family tree and related to half the town. Their family photos from this year, with notes:

    rJvAkxn.jpg

    Y2xzLCq.jpg

This was not a part of any played save, just a Carnival photoshoot that was very fun to arrange:

    ejbZaRx.jpg

    LCVPLRC.jpg

In a very short-lived save, my simself worked in a bakery in Monte Vista. Although the bakery set is beautiful, I didn't like how selling the food to townies works in game.

You definitely should try. They look generic at first but the become endearing after a while.

It's fun to name them and give them a personality based on your first impression.

And you feel more free to do whatever with them because you did not create them, and they're free of any house/relatinship/job.

I even tried to match some of them because they looked like families.

Managed to get all the EPs for Sims 3, and Grandpa's Grove (oopsies...my mistake)... Deliciously Indulgent Bakery as well as a few other things...and well...now have to go after the stuff packs and the store. :D Can't remember all of it... since my memory is going bad. Can't wait to start going after the other store stuff...like the Grove and Dragon Valley. :D

Of course and who can forget memorable, opportunistic shots like this one... That's gotta be one of my best moments in Sims 3. :D Capturing the risque...yet clean enough to be posted. :D

First I am extremely grateful to have got through two operations and still be here to play the sims :)

I spent most of 2018 working on my CAW project so there hasn't been much time for gameplay. I did, however, have time to play around in CAS and came up with these two lovelies.

    My newest fairy.

    NyIAuJe.png
And my new vampire. I should warn you he is already engaged to Melody the witch. Coughs politely even though he is adorable he does have a biting reputation :D:D
    MhZ1SE4.png

One of my best pieces of work from my CAW project is the castle ruins. I was particularly pleased with how it turned out, although I will say using the castle kit is plum hard work.

    XgvwoQ0.png

    zBnyPOT.png

And a more seasonal pic from when I was testing the weather functionality.

And last I hope everyone has great fun and some really memorable simming moments in 2019 :)

@Bettyboop55 - Wish I could give you more than one "awesome" just on that account alone. Mirroring @Mikezumi's wish that your two operations were successful in taking care of what the problem is. Glad that you're here to still play the sims too. Love seeing your progress with the CAW world that you're working on. That castle is stunning.

Excuse me a moment OP but I would like to say thank you to @Mikezumi and @Nikkei_Simmer for their kind words.

As I said I am extremely grateful to be able to visit the forum and play the sims. I am really looking forward to making some memorable simming moments this year. The hospital are extremely pleased with the way both operations have gone. They have resolved a fairly serious condition and now it is up to me to get physically fit again. I have never been a gym bunny but I am doing my exercises and walking when I can.

Thank you again for your kind words and thank you OP for allowing me to disrupt your thread :)

@Mikezumi Congratulations on your first Genie  I now know that he has since had his own family!

@Bettyboop55 Nice work on the castle ruins  I went to Portchester Castle the other week near Portsmouth which is part ruins but part intact. I have not uploaded my own pictures of it yet but you can see pictures of it online:

I think that the keep is Norman and still standing. By question is how did they ever build castles so high up such as your is on top of a hill? My guess is they used a similar technique that the Egyptians used centuries earlier when they built the pyramids

I have been to Porchester. If I am right I think it housed French prisoners of war during the Napoleonic wars. Medieval masons were very clever and did indeed use skills known about in ancient times. Early castles would have been constructed of wood because they were fairly quick to build and timber would have been plentiful in the UK then. The stone constructions came later when the Normans were more settled, with some stone being imported from Europe and presumably French masons as well. The good old fashioned block and tackle would have been used to lift the heavier stones into place and I should imagine that serf labour played a large part in the process too. Just like the Egyptians using slave labour for their pyramid building. Among the most famous castles built on sheer cliff is Lindisfarne Castle in Northumberland. Although greatly modernised in the Victorian/Edwardian era the original portcullis, keep etc are definitely medieval.
