There are already 4 versions of this game, and each version has offered something new. If a Sims 5 is ever made, though, I doubt that it would be able to bring something completely new to the table, other than combing all the best features from the previous games. Even so, though, I feel that this would become quite repetitive. I have basically no interest in a Sims 5, and many people on the forum and other platforms have said the same. Even those who do want Sims 5, would still have to wait years for all the DLC like Seasons and Pets to arrive all over again.
My suggestion is a spin-off game that will knock the socks off of both simmers and gamers from all over the world: a truly sandbox Sims Medieval.
The Sims Medieval that exists now, is wrought with missions, options that have already been planned to follow certain storylines etc. Many simmers play Period style with decor, clothes and mods, and many gamers wish that they could create characters and play out their lives in a Period setting without any interference from the game. I think that this spin-off would be hugely successful and an absolutely amazing experience that is far superior to yet another version of modern-life sims.
To make The Sims 5: Medieval (TS5M) truly intricate and amazing, I suggest that social systems are super super detailed. There will be social classes that have unique roles in society and each class has certain interactions and relationships with sims from other classes.
The classes are:
- Peasant. Lowest rung of society. Cannot own land - only work on land or in buildings owned by nobles. (Thus weekly rent and can be kicked out if they do not pay up). Must pay taxes as well and do all the "lowly" work.
Pros: can do what they want with little social pressure, as long as they obey and conform to the nation's rules and higher-ranked sims
Cons: literally on the bottom of the food chain; has little freedom when it comes to money and creating a better life for themselves and their families
- Knight. Serve nobles (such as lords/ladies and royalty) in exchange for land and honor.
Pros: doesn't have to worry about housing or food, as employers provide this. More freedom than peasants. Can move around the world and maybe work for royalty, if sims make a good enough name for themselves.
Cons: job can be dangerous. Knights often get killed in battle, while trying to maintain peace etc. If a knight is sacked, they're plummed until they get a new employer. If a knight loses their honor, it is easy to fall back into misery and Peasant status.
- Noble. Luxurious life with high societal status. They often work for royalty and own land, workers etc.
Pros: The lifestyle that offers the most freedom, especially when it comes to money and managing estate etc
Cons: High societal pressure. Reputations are exceptionally fickle and it is easy to become an outcast in certain circles.
- Royalty. Rulers of kingdoms. Make the rules and live however they please.
Pros: Can live however you want. Be the greatest ruler of all time or an absolute tyrant.
Cons: Obviously you have to make sure the kingdom is prosperous. If the people are starving, mistreated etc, they will riot and maybe even try to assassinate you. Wars may break out and you'll have to govern strategies etc. If not, it's on you if your royal advisors make a booboo.
- Wizards, mages and witches can be added in an expansion pack with dragons and other magical beings.
Sims are not stuck in their respective social classes, as there are ways to move up the ladder. Examples are being an apprentice and then getting a job in a higher-ranked field, being a knight and working your way up to high reputation among nobles etc. It is much easier to lose class and move into a lower one, if you're not careful. Getting into royal status is exceptionally difficult if not born into it and not creating your own kingdom. The easiest way is to marry into a royal family after raising your reputation and class to as high as possible.
The
world is very large and is divided up into kingdoms, hamlets and wilderness. There are pre-existing kingdoms in which sims can live, or a new kingdom can be created. Sims can also go off into the wilderness and live their own lives, although they'll have to protect themselves from vagabonds, wolves and royal officials if they are found to be avoiding taxes. They can create a new hamlet if they wish.
I feel that, in the essence of TS4, there can be multiple world maps, but sims should be able to travel freely between them. Of course this game would have to be open world, so I suggest that each world has borders and when sims wish to pass the border into a new world, a loading screen ensues.
Create a World would be amazing for this game so players can completely create their new kingdom from the ground up etc.
There are many jobs that sims can do:
- Farming (produce, animal products, cotton, wood etc.)
- Processing (making clothes, weapons, armor, crockery, furniture etc)
- Business (selling things in a business, owning an inn/tavern/bar etc)
- Arts (creating paintings, sculptures, music, poetry, literature, architecture etc)
- Religious (working in a church as a priest, kitchen person, cleaner, holy choir member etc)
- Service
Low-level (peasants): cleaning, cooking, looking after children, being an apprentice, assisting sims in things like getting dressed and brushing hair etc
High-level (knights and nobles): teaching, war strategy, strategies to govern kingdom etc
- Crime. All sims can steal things and there is a PG way to murder sims. The animation could be similar to fighting: a dust cloud and fists/swords etc, but one of the sims may lie dead on the ground afterwards.
A big part of the game would be using resources to create new things, such as creating jewelry, armor and fancy weapons from jewels; using wood to create furniture, paper etc. There will be a Minecraft-like ability to use most things you can find in nature to create something.
Seasons will have to be included in the Base Game:
- Crops need rain and there are seasonal crops.
- Weather brings challenges to survive and makes it very important to find/buy adequate shelter. Peasants especially will feel the effects of leaky roofs etc.
Horses will need to be included for transportation. They can be ridden as is or drag carts and carriages, as well as help to plough fields.
Livestock like chickens for eggs, sheep for wool and cows for milk should be included for farming and processing.
Falcons and doves can be included in the BG to send messages. Falcons can also aid in hunting.

Ahhh yeah, the build mode would be sooo awesome! Just imagine building your own fantasy castles, cathedrals etc, a modest or massive farm, a luxurious estate for your nobles or just a small wooden shack that is leaky and miserable.

I agree! The thing is it would also be quite fresh and worth investing into. After investing in everything TS4 has to offer and will continue to offer, I really don't want to start all over again for a similar product. A medieval and fantasy setting would definitely be worth investing into. Of course, keeping it in the same concept as the regular Sim game but with medieval and fantasy adaptations.
And just imagine how awesome the DLC for this would be!
A super cool magic EP with epic wizards, mages, dragons etc.
A fantasy fairy EP that brings elves, fairies, unicorns etc.
A cave and dwarf EP that expands greatly on mining and metals, jewels, magical things found underground etc.
A pirate EP that allows you to wreck havoc on the 7 seas.
Basically, it would allow us to play out any story we want, whether it be a fun adventure, a miserable struggle for survival, a Lord of the Rings experience etc.

I agree we need a fresh spin on the sims, and going back in time might be the best way to do this.
Question regarding royalty and nobility how would who gets the "estate" would we be able to set that up in either CAS or in live screen? Because from 1066 to before the birth of Prince George of Cambridge in England it was "primogeniture" which means "first born son"
When I talk about estate, I mostly mean property. Like, a noble can own many farms, shops, factories, residential lots etc. and get an income from these lots. This would be managed in Live Mode as these sort of things cannot be "assigned" in CAS.
The player can decide which sim they wish to make the heir and can do with the other children what they please. However, in royal and noble families, it is expected for the first-born to be the heir, so not doing this might cause controversy. If you wish to make the siblings knights, this is completely possible since knighthood is an honorable profession and a royal-turned-knight sim will simply have much more honor, a more luxurious lifestyle etc. A knight can still bring disgrace upon their family if they mess up, which can be a very bad thing for royalty and noble families.

Arranged marriages would be cool! I think it would be appropriate since The Sims 3 Medieval handled producing heirs as a sort of business matter.
Arranged marriages would make sense among higher ranks, as well for peasants wishing to marry for money.
Archery and sword fighting would be amazing and also necessary for theft, self-defense and assassination etc.

@fruitsbasket101 I'm a bit of a historical fanatic (in Gen 4 of my Swanson-I'm rewriting my Swanson Legacy- I combined different aspects of Earth's history into one family's backstory (think=Russian (what happened to the Russian Royal family?), Germany (what did Germany do to "Jewish people?) and not-so-longer ago Afghanistan history-( having to wear a burka and can't go outside without a male escort).)
While this is a good idea for a game (and it is) I don’t think it would be wise to have ‘this as a main sims game a lot of people want the original moden sims style. It could work as a spin off or even a EP ( somthing to do with time travel prehaps) I think it should use the new Sims 5 engine. I agree Sesons should be in the main game of sims games. It I don’t see that happening. So it’s a good idea but I don’t see it happening as a main line sims game.
@MadameLee I'm a history fan myself. I love doing medieval style play the most but also love to write. I like coming up with my own histories and sims and play them as they evolve through the generations. Sorta like a decade challenge but with my own made up sim cultures and history.
