What draws you back to The Sims?

«1
Sometimes we need to take a break from our favorite activities, try something new or play something else. But for me, even whenI take a break from any of The Sims games, I always get pulled back in again. Sometimes it’s new content or I hear of a good challenge to try or I just feel like playing it.

What draws you back to the Sims? What seems to pull you in?

The Sims I have created and the desire to accomplish the goals of set for them. I do know that when things get a tad tedious, it helps to have new content, be it a pack of some sort, or a mod, or even some cc.

I've been playing The Sims since The Sims Deluxe Edition. I'veplayed every version from Deluxe Editon to the Sims 4, Sims Medievela and all of the console games except for The Sims 4, as I prefer it for PC. Once ina while I uninstall it for a break, but I always come because I just love how I can tell my own stories and create families, legacies, and lol even try to recreate the entire Pleasantview Neighboorhood. Sometimeslike you said, new EPs and etc but mostly because The Sims is a great way for me to be creative and just have fun. I will do a while playing Sims 2, 3, 4 and Medieval. I don't think I will ever not be playing.

Usually, I form new stories in my head that I have not yet completed in the sims. I am a creature of habit and it's easy for me to do the same careers, the same type of stories. There is still so much I haven't done yet in the sims with certain careers and collectibles. It's just a matter of having the desire to really explore something new. When I tried fishing for the first time with the Angler aspiration...I was enjoying it at first but it became so boring. Just sitting there watching my sim fish. And there really is no workaround or anything to make fishing more exciting...

    The next pack. :#
I am currently playing through the Mass Effect series.

I will drop it if a Witches game pack is announced. The timing would be perfect for what is going on in my TS4 game.

For me it's when I get over a writer's block. Sometimes that can be for a few days, sometimes it's weeks. And of course, there is always gonna be general burnout, which only lasts for how long I'm playing another game until I get bored/burned out from that. Which can happen often sometimes as I have the attention span of a puppy...oh look a gameboy!

It is just one of two franchises that I play on a regular basis. I play Sims or Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons. I only play to relax, so right now I can not play Sims 4 as there are too many bugs making the game unplayable for me. Ironically, the other franchise I love never gets to an unplayable state.

Usually a new story idea. I'll think of something I'd like my sims to do/accomplish and I head right back in. I play many games though and sometimes its just a matter of needing a break from the one I'm currently playing and going back to something familiar and loved.

To play out story ideas, to watch a story unfold before me, and a desire for family

I just really love the stories that you can make. You can live vicariously through them since we can't control everything in our own lives! The designing is great too. I can design a perfect home with unlimited funds (which I dont have in real life!)

Usually I'll watch videos with other simmers, online and that will spark an idea or inspiration, or they create characters or challenges that I want to try. Plus anytime I see shows with houses or interior design, that makes me want to build new houses.

For me, it's usually because I watch LPs of other Simmers. But here and there I end up getting the urge to play the game.. However, I usually get those urges at the wrong time, when I physically am unable to go to my laptop. I do end up imagining what my real life job would look like in the Sims though, which gets me through the day pretty well at work.

For me it's when a new pack is released, even if I don't get the pack it still draws me back into the game; been doing that since TS1, somehow I couldn't imagine life without The Sims, too many good memories.

A variety of things will pull me back since I play different ways. Mostly just me though, my moods and how I feel. I get the most fun out of it when I'm feeling creative and can tell stories in my head that my sims help me play out.
I can get pulled in by new content that can jump start that creativity if I'm not feeling it... but often I don't jump right into new content anyway even if it's there. I use it when it fits the story and sometimes have to work up to using it.. but if it jump starts me that's pretty good also.
I just need the inspiration to start a story or sometimes keep one going that sometimes comes also from outside sources like movies, tv and even something as simple as driving around and seeing a "sim house". Then I just start thinking about it and a story can form. Who would live there? What are they up too.. ect.
Sometimes I go in to "test" something out and get drawn in by just playing without over-thinking it too.

Ever since I was young I loved creating very short stories, and drawing designs of homes and towns. I remember when I was a kid, my parents didn't believe in letting me stay inside, and once video games came around that was definitely something that was not allowed in our home. So I would either draw on paper, and tape all the pieces together, and then go into my imaginary world. Anyways fast forward to 2001, I came across a Sims game (for the console) and it was like living my childhood all over again, but this time I was married and had two young sons, and no one telling me I can't play a video game. lol

But what draws me in, is I just love this series. I didn't have too much time to play it when I first got started, those two boys of mine kept me really busy. The fun will be starting up again because my daughter-in-law will be having my first grandson this October, and she's living with us, along with my her hubby (my son) until they can gather enough income to move into their own apartment. But I'm in no hurry for them to move out.

For me that got me back into the sims is the achievements on Xbox 360. Sims 3 has been a very fun game. For me its like an escape from reality and do what i really want inside of a game. I believe the Sims games were one of the first games i really got to love and enjoy. Sometimes i do take a break and then i watch gameplay and get into the mood of playing it again.

I aways come back to the sims for some reason. I love being able to create story line and romances. though eventually I do get sick of playing and will stop for awhile than I come back again.

You were playing the Sims before it was released! That's great.

My story is similar, and I've never told anyone this. When I was little I filled a notebook with people who lived in a madeup town. I had all the professions I could think of at age 10. I made families and assigned the parents jobs and assigned the children classes. I still remember the names and occupations of these people 40 years later, lol. I've considered populating a sim town with some of them. I should really do it. The mayor's name was Myron Mistletoe, lol. I am so going to make him mayor in a sim game.

But yeah -- when the Sims first came out it caught my imagination. I've loved it since Day 1. There are always possibilities to explore with it.

New content. I'm still enjoying Seasons at the moment but I don't really play often. I still feel like a lot is missing in this game.

Currently replaying Final Fantasy X series and some Sims 3.

The creative aspect. There isn't another game like it that allows me to build and tell stories. Whenever I need to scratch that itch, TS4 is the only option.

Escapism - sometimes I don't want to watch a film or read a book, I want to create and play my own stories and just get a little bit lost from the world!

The Sims has been my favourite game since TS1, it's a constant source of guilty pleasure happiness!

What other game allows me to build worlds and fill it with people? Have always loved this game. I play it to relax after a tough week at work.

I've been playing consistently for the last 20 years. Don't think I've ever gone more than a week or two without playing.

I love the building aspect of the game! That makes me go back to it everyday but it would be even better if cars were introduced into the gme instead of having to get mods!
    Anyone agree with me?
