Best way to move a stuck pet

Since I don't use cheats or mods, I'm not familiar with the various cheat codes that are necessary when you have a problem. I have a cat who had started to jump onto a counter to sleep (naughty kitty!) and is stuck in the motion of starting to jump. He's completely stuck. No one can pick him up, I can't make him do anything. If I leave him alone, all his stats go to red and I assume he will die. I closed game without saving and came back and apparently I saved last time after he had gotten stuck.
