@Simpocalypse, thanks! I'm seriously so inspired after reading this thread that I think I may try to replicate that world. Let's see if I can dredge up the patience and discipline I had 15 years ago
Of course you show poor quality, bare photos of TS2. If you take the time and add things the neighbourhoods, they can look amazing and the game is over 10 year old and looks good. TS2>TS4
I never read/heard that Magnolia Promenade was supposed to be a renewed Bluewater Village, personally I see nothing similar with those.
I like the sims 4 worlds though, for casual players they are great (lively, pretty etc without effort, because creating a world and making it beautiful takes a lot, a lot of work).
I do hope that they'll release a Create a World for Sims 4 though, it would bring a lot to the game
Love all the pictures on here, my sims 2 worlds never looked like that, but it's nice to see what you can do with them
O_o I hope it wasn't supposed to be a renewed Bluewater Village because if that was their attempt, they did worse than fail! The point is Magnolia promenade is the *shopping district/neighborhood*, and Ts2 ten years ago had one. And now 2015 Sims 4 Get To Work makes a corner...it's just that it has really failed where it shouldn't have.

Oh, I know, but that wasn't the point. The point was to compare just how much better Sims 2'a Bluewater village is and was than Sims 4's brand new Magnolia Promenade. And the results? Magnolia is put to shame.
While it may not be a renewed version of Bluewater Village, it is definitely newer and more vibrant. It suits Sims 4 perfectly, so I don't see the reason in comparing two equally attractive areas. But that's just my absolute biased opinion on my two favourite games.
And that's probably because they weren't trying to make it like Bluewater Village.
Magnolia Promenade is a useless waste of a world.
People told EA that. Guess what EA said:
Magnolia Promenade is an extension of Willow Creek.
Please EA, that's still no flipping excuse.
You make an extension. You do it PROPERLY.
Not 2 shops and an empty lot.
Ha! Some extension...
Me watching GT at Gamescom.

Well, it is newer..But other than its color, I wouldn't say it is more vibrant. I compare them because they are both the shopping districts that shipped with a business type expansion. Bluewater Village is vast, and Magnolia Promenade is a sort of light version of Willow Creek.

Maybe a bit like an extension on horribleness?
They should call it:
The pointless Promenade.
What's the point of calling it a promenade when it only has 2 shops and you cant even go on a boat or see Sims going on boats.

There is a town near me that has a population of about 1000 people. And the shopping district's promenade has more lots than the Pointless Promenade.
Could Magnolia Promenade be the smallest town ever released for The Sims? I think even Neighborhood 1 (from the original Sims circa 2000) had like 1 more lot than that lol.

No matter what EA says, I stand by what I said.
I thought that it was going to be an actual world, not an extension.
God knows if they're even telling the truth.
Its sad really. I'm loosing trust and faith in EA.
No wonder everybody hates them.
When I watched EA I found it hilarious that the mob dance was in the WORST, CRINGYEST MOMENT IN TIME.
I guess I'm gonna get my beach but...I can't even swim in the Ocean.
Why go to the beach then?!
All my hopes of Swimming lessons at the beach are gone .
I don't know about you but I get my sims in the water a lot at the beach. Now I don't see the point
You see things like new worlds always seems to end in disappointment in EA.
The only successful free thing from EA was Newcrest...AN EMPTY WORLD!!
Magnolia Promenade has a nice name and then everything else is a waste of time.

My sims don't even visit Magnolia Promenade. Why would they with just 4 lots and nothing else to do? If I have to load something (the load screens kill me) it need to be worthwhile. We can't even edit the world to make it more interesting.
They should have added Magnolia Promenade to Willow Creek or something. I never use it for anything cuz i forget about it.
