I would like to share with you a tutorial of mine where you can learn how to build usable bunk beds without customer content My comments in the video are in German, but I wrote down all needed cheats before starting building and I think you don't need my comments to understand it, if you're not a novice to mooing. If you have any questions, I would love to answer them all

Okay, I have figured this out so I'll help break it down. Most functional cc bunk beds need two things: A bunk bed frame and a zero footprint mattress. Regular vanilla game mattresses don't work, and that's why I was having trouble with using the posted tutorial. So here's a pic of my large family of a mom and 4 toddlers using toddler sized bunk beds:
First, you place the bunk bed frame. Then grab one of the zero footprint mattresses and place it on the bottom. With MOO cheat, place the second mattress on the top by pressing the 9 key to raise it off the ground. (For those that may not know, the 0 key will lower it if you place it too high.)
She also has a child sized bunk bed and some loft beds that can accommodate a double bed. Here's another link to some zero-footprint mattresses and frames, including for double beds:
So here's a pic of the loft bed idea, first the frame and bed are separate:
Then placed together:
Here's a pic of my sim sleeping in it:
Since there's no animations tied to bunk beds, she sorta jumps up and sits on the bed really quickly. Getting out of bed is also odd looking. Once they are completely out of bed, they stand mid-air, but the minute they start walking, they are back on the ground like normal. So here's the awkwardness in all its glory:
And back down to earth:
And if you love (or have to) live in a very small space, some loft beds come with a zero footprint desk and stool so you can make use of some of that room. Here's my sim at her computer:
And while I'm on the subject of tiny spaces and sleeping arrangements, one of my other faves are day beds. Are they couches? Are they beds? Why choose:
No, the pillows don't match, but I have so many pillows I didn't feel like sorting through them. And you'll notice that the sims sleep through pillows if you leave them on the beds.

This looks great and I made one of her rooms exactly, but my kid just waves frantically. They won't jump up. Is that a mod?
