This may belong under EPs, not sure. But ever since I got Seasons, my Rock Climbing machine keeps breaking. Yes, rain does it no good, snow is almost worse. Now they we've rolled back into Spring, the machine is still broken. It doesn't seem to matter how many times it gets repaired, either. Nobody has a chance to use it before it simply shorts out again. I have to say I've lost two butlers to the cause, too. Butler number three had to be diverted from his desire to repair the device — at least until the sunny days of Spring. This time around it's not raining constantly. I tried to build something on the order of a Green House, as for gardening, so that I could put a roof over the machine, but I can't place the machine inside. I do know there is a gym that has Rock Climbing machines inside, so what am I doing wrong. Or, is there some kind of awing available?
How do you keep your Rock Climbing machine in good order after Seasons?
Please, and thank you, in advance. Looking for any and all solutions.

I think I found said awning. But it's not tall enough, sadly. I even attempted to build a Green House but even after building and upper floor without a floor, I couldn't place the machine. I either did something wrong, or something. Ultimately, I just ended up removing the machine from the yard. Heavy sigh …

I think I tried that. I was having issue with my computer that day. Things ran so slow that when I clicked on the highest wall, it didn't appear to lock in place. Perhaps, I was just impatient. I may try again. For now, there's more room in their large backyard. LOL

Huh. The house is already a three story. Can't begin to conceive a fourth floor. It's a copy of the Wright Way House from Sims2. Unless, I make that empty tower higher … Has anybody tried it in a basement?

How about you make the basement (1st floor, or 2nd floor) the tallest wall height? It might look a little wanky, but it should work.
My Sims are living in the Iconic Wright Way House. Doesn't seem right to wreck it for a simple rock climbing machine my Sim can use at the gym. But, thank you anyway.

That one is an indoor electronic device and not meant for outdoors - so it needs to be inside in gyms etc. The real versions of these practice trainers - are operated by a computer system. Computers do not do well in moisture.
The devs would have to make a version of the Sims 3 rock wall climber as that one was much bigger and not considered a computerized trainer - but a practice wall which are actually meant to be outside.

It works fine in the gym - my athletic Sims loves it. Unlike the Sims 3 version which is made for outside - this one is made for inside. The gym they show in the trailer has them inside and your sims can compete against each other on them. Everytime I take my athletic female to that gym she runs right to those. I think she likes it a little too much.
That pack also has some cool gym wear among other things in it. I love the windows and door that came with the pack as well.

No, I didn't knock out the floors. I may give this a try when I get back to that household. Thanks!

Confirmed - they work inside a house as long as the walls are as tall as you can make them.

as for the knocking ceilings out, i haven't tried that (but should at some point). but did have one house with a rock climbing machine 'outside' with the second floor roof extended over it as a sort of protection. that build is long gone, so no clue if it would actually work to protect the machine in seasons
Well, in terms of making a shelter for the thing, what dimensions do I need to work with? I know the thing can tilt some, but is that still within its default "footprint"?
And, when I say "shelter", will a three-wall-and-roof design suffice? Or does it need to be fully enclosed?
> Have you tried building a two- or three-story building, and knocking out the floors? (I'm hoping this will work for trees in my greenhouse. It's rather annoying that all buildings on a lot have to have the same wall height.)
I did this for my rock climbing wall and (though I had to buy another one as the last one was still breaking inside and saying electronics couldn't be used in the rain) it was able to be put indoors and worked perfectly! Thanks for the tip!
> Sort of off-topic, but sort of relevant - do you need a thermostat in all the out-buildings on a lot, or is one thermostat the master control for the lot?
I'm sure you've had this answered or figured it out on your own by now, but just in case you haven't one thermostat will cool/heat any room on the lot thankfully.
of course, it's not a bug, it's a design feature.
god the Sims 4 sucks. what an awful game full of lazy oversights. once again.
how do you create a product in a series of products which is inferior to its predecessors? ask EA.
