For the cottage, instead of using the pre-built chimneys, you could just build decorative/nonfunctional ones if you're going for aesthetics. It wouldn't require any cheats, you would just need to build a 1x1 second story room with brick/stone exterior covering and adjust the roof height accordingly!
@KhemKat19 thank you for the suggest The cottage looks so much better this way.
I will look round for a suitable topper. I don't use CC but I think I have seen something.

Decided over the weekend I needed to do something about the uneven terrain before moving on to work on new areas. So the last couple of days has been spent levelling ground and reinstalling the Bridge Inn and Merchants House. It has also meant I could add the Grace Memorial Cricket Pitch which will act as my Stadium and the Georgian Cottage on Cliff Top Road. Also on Cliff Top Road is a new lot, Gable End Cottage. Still some work to do on the ground levelling, WIP on many of the lots and according to hubby I really should find something to be the big white screens for the cricket pitch.

I have finished all the building I want to do this week and a little landscaping. Now I must go back to levelling terrain and reinstalling lots. This I shall tackle over the weekend and into next week.
Gable End Cottage with some more landscaping.
The 3 lots of Cliff Top Road. You can clearly see how uneven the terrain is.
Finally a sad little tale to relate. I used Google Earth yesterday to locate a property on Hayling Island seafront. I spent many summers here as a child and loved going past this house. I envied the owners the clear view of the sea and the fantastic little balcony with the green railings. Only yesterday it was gone, along with a couple either side of it. The reason was a newly built complex of retirement flats . Plum ugly. So I have rebuilt the house from memory. It is nothing special, a lot of these places were built between the wars and you can find them in just about every seaside town. But there was only one with the green balcony railings

I have had a really unsuccessful weekend with the laptop nearly going out the window. Try as I will I can't get the terrain level between the High St and Cliff Top Road. I get one lot sorted only to discover another one is now on uneven ground or there is a massive adverse camber in the road. So I have taken a deep breath, drunk loads of coffee and decided that the whole area must be sorted out properly. I was hoping to move on to the Bridge this week but I need to do this first for my own peace of mind.
I am taking a couple of days off to get my head straight, then all the lots in Cliff Top Road, the Ristorante, the Bridge Inn and the two closest High St lots are all being saved to bin. Then I shall really get to work sorting out the terrain.

I have been busy all afternoon sorting out my terrain issues. There are no pictures but it has been a case of levelling and reinstalling lots all afternoon so there is nothing new to show.
I would like to thank very much indeed both @Rflong7 and @Karritz for their instructions and videos on levelling terrain or placing lots on uneven terrain. I might well have abandoned this project without that guidance to sort out the mess. I have learned now that it is far better to make sure terrain is totally flat before even attempting to build.

After all the frustration of this week I decided to do a little landscaping this afternoon. I have gone back o 1 Riviera Drive. This is going to be the most modern lot in Fenbury and owned by the richest family. Today I have put in the pond under the protruding sitting room.

There isn't much to show for this weekend. I am spending most of my afternoons asleep because I am getting increasingly tired. Sept can't come soon enough.
Enough of the maudlin. I have been landscaping and revisiting a couple of old sites to do more work. I really need to get the road network completed so I can test it and put down markers for the remaining lots.
By the harbour entrance I have added a boat shed.
And I have found a gate which completes the entrance to the church and graveyard. It is the nearest thing to a lych gate I have found which isn;t cc.
Finally I decided on the site of the second fishing spot which is just off Willow Tree Lane.

I'm glad you found something useful in one or more of my videos.
I've never tried to make a world although I've thought about it a few times. I've got the tool but it looks like a huge project so I've never done much with it.
I'll be very interested to see more of your world as you progress with it - I have people from that general part of the world (not exactly the same place but geographically close) in my family tree (Real Life) so I would probably like to download your impression of the area and have it in my game.
I enjoy using worlds made by others and occasionally feature them in my various story videos. Since I use NRAAS Traveler mod I generally have more than one home world in a few of my videos.
@Karritz thank you for your lovely post It's a small world. We do not have family in Australia that I know of but some did travel to America and Canada.
I'm lucky to be in a very pretty part of England but I don't think Fenbury will ever do it justice. As for the future of the project I have a major op scheduled for Sept after which I hope I can complete it. But I am incredibly slow
It was the lovely @Odonata68 who kindly gave me a link to one of your videos and I really am very grateful. There is a lot of guidance on CAW both here on the forum and on the net. It can be very temperamental and frustrating but it is lovely well something works out the way you want.

@Bettyboop55 I'm glad I could help in a small way. I lurk often in these forums and love tutorials and Karritz has some great ones. I'm in awe of anyone who has the patients and talent to tackle CAW. I have dabbled with it a bit but I lack said patients. I'm sure I'll revisit it someday.

It has been an odd week. I tried to build my art gallery and hit a major snag. The nearby railway tunnel which is a game object kept disappearing. I have not yet worked out why this should happen since the railway tunnel was added very early in the build but I have also noticed that the waterfalls also disappear when I am in EIG and reappear when in build mode. Very odd but no doubt there is a logical answer somewhere.
I have managed to finished laying out the road map for the isle part of Fenbury.
I have also started work on one of the new streets which I am going to call Tennyson Avenue. The town where I live has a habit of naming streets after famous British poets so I chose Tennyson Avenue to represent them.
I also couldn't resist building on the biggest lot in the street. This one was going to be an Edwardian design in white stone and white siding with lots of fancy woodwork but as you can see the design has been changed to a 1930s design. Of course there is still plenty to do both inside and landscaping the garden.

This will be the last post for this weekend I promise. More pics of what I have been up to over the last week that I was too tired to post yesterday.
First the back garden of 1 Tennyson Ave which actually faces towards the beach so the views from the bedroom windows is a good one. I was a bit naughty because I have already put the pool in and decorated round it. Not the most sensible thing to do with EIG but it did save. The room at the bottom right is a garden room which is a cross between a greenhouse and a conservatory. It will be filled with plants and comfy sofas once I get round to decorating the interior.
Part of what I have been doing this week is landscaping round the river mouth. The next three pics show the hospital which now has greenery round it, the river mouth with the hospital on top of the cliff and the Mock Tudor, one of my pre builds which I installed.
Finally I have installed another pre build, The Old Rectory by the church. I was never really happy with the build so I have started to rebuild bits of it. Consequently it looks very stark at the moment.

I have finished the exterior of the Old Rectory and installed another pre build - Holly House. The following pictures show both the Old Rectory and 1 Tennyson Avenue.
I have also started work again on the art gallery which I plan to house in an old railway station. This was only started today so it is very rough and ready.
The interior and the external art work will have to wait until I export the world into TS3. At the moment I do not want to make the save file too big otherwise EIG will crash.

Hurray I am out of hospital but still waiting for my surgery. That looks like being in early Oct but in the meantime I am to rest and if there are any more problems I am to go straight back. So I have been resting by playing around in CAW. I would like to thank everyone for their get well wishes that certainly helped while coping with hospital food
I am thinking of using the mill wheel from the store but that means building on uneven terrain. While I think that one over I have built some mill cottages.
For the first time I have used a shell for a community lot. Fenbury Cinema
I wasn't going to put in a swimming pool but I am not sure my sims will be able to swim off the beach. I have based the pool on the lido which was popular in the 1920/30s. Unfortunately many of these were allowed to fall into disrepair when the local councils decided to build utilitarian indoor pools. Some have been restored so I think I am alright to include a lido in Fenbury.
I have also been thinking about my version of Hogan's Diner. So I have created the Farmhouse Diner. There are a number of food chains that specialise in building ersatz farmhouses and old mills etc in which to serve fast food. I need to find a fancy neon sign for the forecourt.
I have also taken two lots and recoloured them. The fire station and the equine training centre.
Just about everywhere has it's place for villains. Fenbury Recycling centre is where you will find the local criminals. This is one of my pre builds.
Finally I have finished the road layout and in the process done this to the bridge. I am hoping I can repair the damage which was done when I was tired and not paying proper attention.
