If I move a retired sim out without waiting for them to be kicked out by the game, will they still appear in the portrait's "previous generation" area?

Yes, they will appear in the family portrait in Previous generation section.
If you move them out in the family portrait, you can still socialize with them and they will still appear in the town. However, once it is time for them when the game forces them to move out, they'll just disappear with the stories related to them. The position in family portrait may change after that moment.

Thank you :). I've done that, but my game says that there is no room in my household to move a sim in as a husband to one of my active sims. I now only have six in the household, so does anyone know why I can't move him in?? The player whose sim he is wants him moved out but I can't get the option to do it! The relationship is at level 8 and they're married!! All three active slots are filled at the moment, with the sim who just got married, and her aunt and uncle.

You need to have a playable sim slot free as the sim has stories with him. Try freeing one up by retiring a sim or buying a new slot.

I started the relationship story "Better Late than Never" with a retired sim character & now that sim & 2 others that I retired have greyed out socialize buttons. I was level 7 in that story-line but can't complete it cuz I can't interact with that sim anymore. Is there a reason why this happened?

    Hello
After a few days, retired sims disappear from the game. They have a birthday cake icon above their head, and when the icon is pressed they say goodbye. You can then not socialise with them again.

I am new to the Sims Mobile, and there are many things that I am still not clear about, and retirement is one of them. I am currently level 16, and I have two Sims that have four traits. One of them has completed a career and working on a second career. Their hobbies are not maxed out yet.

Now my question is... what did she mean when one of the posters on here said to work on a fifth trait? Do I have to work on an imaginary trait or a hidden trait? How can I work on this fifth trait? I am quite confused about that one. Do I have to make my Sims maxed out on everything before they could retire?

I would very appreciate any clarification about this matter.

There is an additional trait, called good upbringing, but you don’t have to worry about it. Your new sims that you raise from babies will have it if you do social interactions with them as they grow.
As for retirement, the game will begin to suggest retirement as soon as you have enough experience with that sim to have earned an additional trait beyond 4. There isn’t actually another one you can earn.

In the following image, Shaun has earned all 4 of his traits (plus the bonus one that he started with because I raised him from a baby before I activated him). The next time he would earn one, I will start getting prompted that he is ready to retire.

In this image, Cody, who was activated today only has his bonus trait for being raised from a baby and his starting trait that I chose for him when I activated him.

Thank you so much for clarifying that. I really appreciate it. I guess I just have to keep doing events with my SIM until I will get a message telling me that they are ready to retire.

Hi all, I have been making my Sims work, go to parties, socialise, etc. As I mentioned in my previous post, two of my Sims have four traits, my third Sim is waiting to unlock the fourth trait. I am level 17 currently, and I started to get a bit worried if my Sims are bugged or not. Is this normal? The reason why I am worried is because my game is currently bugged, with the fourth Sim slot not working correctly and not letting me to make a Sim. Technical support is aware of it and trying to fix the bug.

Anyway, one of my Sims is now working on her second career after she finished the Barista one. My second Sim is working on "Out of the Frying Pan" career story and hasn't finished that one. They don't have kids yet, since everything cost a lot of Simoleons. Do I have to max out on everything before retirement message will pop up?

I am sorry, I am new to this game. Any help will be appreciated.

I usually get the retirement message on each sim about the time I finish one career and one hobby. Keep in mind that there are a few social and/or events in their daily routine as well, but I mostly focus first on a career and then on a hobby.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Since neither of them finished the hobbies, and my second Sim is still working on his career, I will start focusing on their career, and hobbies. Thanks again for your help.

With regards to retirement and mentoring, how long after retiring a sim (the mother) will the newly promoted son see a mentoring event?
  • phoebebebe13phoebebebe13 Posts: 19,400 Member
@danielscolbertfamily The family icon should appear over the retired sim's head. you should get the option to have regular interactions or mentor in a hobby. if you don't have the hobby option did your retired sim complete their hobby? you may not get this option if they did not complete their hobby story

Haha you replied to my question from yesterday as well. How funny. Well my sim who retired is just hanging around the house (not thrown out) but nothing appears on top of her head when her son is around. She completed the writing hobby and the business job but her son is doing fashion design (lol) and currently does not have a hobby.

Also I think I confused you with someone else as I was chatting to someone in the party chat and received a notification from this reply at the same time, my apologies for the confusing response above!

    @danielscolbertfamily
Have your sim click on his mother and see if you get the interaction. you may need to start a quick friendship for the bubble to pop up? The game has a glitch. Even though your sim may have good upbringing from interacting with his mother, the game does not add to the relationship bar while the sim is baby, toddler, child. I just aged one of my children up and she had to introduce herself to her adult family

Hey @phoebebebe13 thanks for your response. Looks like we have a bug with this son / mother relationship. I've done begin a friendship twice (first one must not have saved) and even tried begin a rivalry and it hasn't progressed. I've emailed EA to get some help. I do wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I can't retire my other two sims who have maxed out traits and hobbies for the last few days!!

@danielscolbertfamily Did they tell you to uninstall and reinstall or go back to a previous save of sorts? I have the party notice stuck on my screen. the one that says yum, maybe i can sneak a lick of cake lol it's annoying trying to go in cas with the bar there.

    Hello Clsims,

The sims must be adult status and be retired for them to move out. Also, there could be a glitch since the newest update. If the family portrait frame still is not working correctly for you .. create a ticket in the forums area under bugs and explain your situation. Best of Luck to you.

    On retirement,
I am interested in knowing how many of you get decent heirlooms and if anyone has found that the skill levels impact this at all. I always complete a story mode for the hobby, the career or two and at least one relationship. This is for each sim prior to retirement. Completing every category prior to retiring each sim takes forever and I question know if it is all in vain since I keep getting common heirlooms and so far one uncommon.

If I complete only the career and retire them is it going to make any difference, or does it really not matter?
  • phoebebebe13phoebebebe13 Posts: 19,400 Member
@bubblybunnie I do all my sims to level 10 so I can't answer you on early retirement. All the uncommon ones I have gotten were through retirement and not through heirloom tickets so far . I have gotten 3 uncommon from all the sims I have retired. The rest were either dups or higher level than I had before and more common.

So, I really wanted to retire my sims since it has been prompting me a lot of time now. I’m just really concerned about a few things. For those who have done it, it would be really helpful! Standard smile Thank you in advance!

    1. Will I be spending some life tickets if I will create a new sim after retiring one?
    2. What happens to the events that my retired sim has not completed? Say it was Chapter 9/10? Will all these not be saved?
    3. Will the 10/10 Events be saved?
    4. How about the outfits? Will it be saved, if I retire all of my sims together?

I have 2 playable Sims married to each other. If I retire one will the other retire as well?
Also why can some of my Sims get married but not others?
