I hope TS5 will have more diverse settings

The Sims has many different players from around the globe. I am a Dutch Simmer for instance. And I have never really felt like my Sims were at home in TS4. I get that the original The Sims was inspired by the American suburbs. And I get that that is mostly emphasized in this franchise, because after all it is an American game. But I just hope that we will have way more different worlds and ways to live in the next iteration(s).

With this idea we also need way more architectural freedom. Right now Build Mode is great for American blue suburbans, which are not very complicated. But it's hard to build anything other than American that actually is architecturally realistic in TS4. Like with Get Together we got a Bavarian/Tudor inspired world with that theme of objects and wallpaper. And while that is nice, it doesn't change a lot in building. The buildings all have the same construction. Just with a different dressing.

Which brings me to my next point. All of the buildings are detached. Again, great for blue suburbans but very unrealistic for a Bavarian/Tudor world. I would like it if we could build terraced and semi-detached buildings in TS5. And our own apartments. These are all things that contribute to feeling like you are not living in an American suburb, but somewhere else.

This square in Windenburg doesn't represent any European city centre. Everything is detached!

In TS4 the only non-American worlds we have gotten are Windenburg and Selvadorada. And while that problem is mostly because we have barely gotten any worlds at all, it's still a shame really. I really like those towns though, but it's just not enough. If we could just build our own worlds, or neighbourhoods. That would actually give me the freedom to play the game like how I would live. It would simulate my life much more.
Not so obsessed anymore with building in TS4!

I completely agree! I wish there were more diverse worlds and building options. I'd love to see more worlds and build tools with east Asian, African, and Indian influences! I love a lot of those countries architectural designs and cultures, so it'd be awesome to see that in the Sims franchise. I just hope if they did decide to add that diversity it would be tastefully done.

    I couldn't agree more, OP.

I googled the meaning of terraced housing and it's exactly what I've been wanting for this version of the game. The only difference is that, in my neck of the woods, we call them row houses or townhouses.

It's inexcusable that an EP called City Living shipped without conjoined lots that could help players to recreate that type of housing and urban feeling. In addition, players should be able to draw walls and fences along the lot boundary.

Roughly translated we call them rowhouses too!

It really is inexcusable about CL. Hence why I consider the pack to be such a fail, with other factors included. We really do need to at least have fences on the lot boundary again!

What I can’t stand is their lack of European food. I mean coffee shops are nice, and spaghetti is too but why not more French foods. I was however happy with the culture in the adventure game pack. I got a real South American feel.

I agree about the food. The Jungle Adventure pack did have a very nice South American feel!

When you say all the buildings are detached, do you mean like a duplex/fourplex type thing? I feel as though the sims 3 had more diversity in such ways than the sims 4 but I can't say I remember correctly. I guess I may just be ignornant to it all because I am American.

I do wish that you could create apartments and duplexes in all the worlds instead of only the one.

@citysimmer I actually believe that with every new pack or expansion they ad more textured hair. I've actually really enjoyed it.

If anything, the 'worlds' in the Sims 4 aren't even worlds to begin with, but simply neighborhoods, so if a Sims 5 is released, I wish to have the size and grandeur of Sims 3 and Sims 2 worlds, including the ability to actually customize the worlds, and maybe even create our own worlds, which would at least allow us to diversify the worlds that we play in our games.
